Season 1924–25 was the 48th Scottish football season in which Dumbarton competed at national level, entering the Scottish Football League for the 26th time and the Scottish Cup for the 37th time.

Overview[edit]

Dumbarton's third consecutive season in the Second Division was boosted by losing just 4 games out of the first 20, and at the turn of the year were just one point off the top of the league, however these high hopes for promotion were dashed by taking only one win from the subsequent and in the end an 8th place finish was achieved out of 20, with 40 points - 10 behind champions Dundee United.[1]

In the Scottish Cup, Dumbarton reached the second round before being knocked out by Falkirk.

Locally, Dumbarton were runners-up in both the Dumbartonshire Cup and the Dumbartonshire Charity Cup, losing to Helensburgh and Clydebank in the respective finals.
