ABC News

ABC News is the news division of the American Broadcasting Company. Its flagship program is the daily evening newscast ABC World News Tonight with David Muir. ABC began news broadcasts early in its independent existence as a radio network after the Federal Communications Commission ordered NBC to spin off the former NBC Blue Network into an independent company in 1943; the split was enforced to expand competition in radio broadcasting in the United States as the industry had only a few companies such as NBC and CBS that dominated the radio market, in particular, was intended to prevent the limited competition from dominating news and political broadcasting and projecting narrow points of view. Television broadcasting was suspended, during World War II. Regular television news broadcasts on ABC began soon after the network signed on its initial owned-and-operated television station and production center in New York City in August 1948. ABC news broadcasts have continued as the television network expanded nationwide, a process that took many years beginning with its launch in 1948.

However, from the 1950s through the early 1970s, ABC News' programs ranked third in viewership behind news programs on CBS and NBC. Until the 1970s, the ABC television network had fewer affiliate stations, as well as a weaker prime-time programming slate to be able to support the network's news operations in comparison to the two larger networks, each of which had established their radio news operations during the 1930s. Only after Roone Arledge, the president of ABC Sports at the time, was appointed as president of ABC News in 1977, at a time when the network's prime-time entertainment programs were achieving stronger ratings and drawing in higher advertising revenue and profits to the ABC corporation overall, was ABC able to invest the resources to make it a major source of news content. Arledge, known for experimenting with the broadcast "model", created many of ABC News' most popular and enduring programs, including 20/20, World News Tonight, This Week and Primetime Live. ABC News' longtime slogan, "More Americans get their news from ABC News than from any other source", was a claim referring to the number of people who watch, listen to and read ABC News content on television and the Internet, not to the telecasts alone.

In June 1998, ABC News, Nine Network and ITN sold their respective interests in Worldwide Television News to the Associated Press. Additionally, ABC News signed a multi-year content deal with AP for its affiliate video service Associated Press Television News while providing material from ABC's news video service ABC News One to APTV. On August 7, 2014, ABC announced that it would relaunch its radio network division, ABC Radio, on January 1, 2015: the change occurred following the announcement that Cumulus would replace its ABC News radio service with Westwood One News. On September 20, 2019, ABC Radio was renamed as ABC Audio as the network has evolved to offer a podcast portfolio and other forms of on-demand and linear content. On September 10, 2018, ABC News launched a second attempt to extend its Good Morning America brand into the afternoon with Strahan and Keke. Europe (Paris M├ętro)

Europe-Simone Veil is a station on Paris Métro Line 3 located in the 8th arrondissement of Paris. The station is located under Rue de Rome at its intersection with Rue de Madrid, west of Place de l'Europe. Oriented along a north–south axis, it is located between Villiers and Saint-Lazare metro stations; the station opened on 19 October 1904, nine days after the first section of Line 3 opened between Père Lachaise and Villiers. It is named after the Place de l'Europe, a square from which streets named for various capitals of European countries radiate; this was the site of the first railway station in Paris, known as the embarcadère de l'Ouest, the temporary terminus of the Compagnie du Chemin de fer de Paris à Saint-Germain, opened in 1837. The new terminus of Gare Saint-Lazare replaced it from 1842; as part of the RATP's Renouveau du métro renewal program, its corridors were renovated in March 2000. It was one of the stations to have platforms culturally developed for the centenary celebrations of the metro.

On 25 April 2018, the president of the Île-de-France region Valérie Pécresse, announced that the metro station will be named Europe - Simone-Veil, named after the former Minister of Health and first president of the European Parliament, deceased on 30 June 2017. The inauguration took place on 29 May 2018, it saw 1,694,103 travelers enter the station in 2018, which places it at the 273rd position of the metro stations for its traffic out of 302. The station has a single entrance entitled Rue de Madrid, leading to the right of No. 1 of this street. Consisting of a fixed staircase, it is adorned with a Guimard entrance, the subject of a historical monuments decree of 29 May 1978. Europe is a standard configuration station, it has two platforms separated by the metro tracks and the vault is elliptical. If its decoration is classic with bevelled white tiles covering the walls, the vault and the tympans, it has the particularity of being equipped with liquid crystal screens since the celebrations of the centenary of the metro, broadcasting short films or slideshows.

Lighting is provided by two tube strips and the platforms are equipped with benches made of wooden slats. The advertising frames are metallic and the name of the station is written in Parisine font on enameled plates; the station is served by Lines 66, 80, 94 and 95 of the RATP Bus Network and, at night, by Lines N02, N15, N16, N51 and N52 of the Noctilien network.
