300 is a 2006 American epic fantasy war film based on the 1998 comic series of the same name by Frank Miller and Lynn Varley. Both are fictionalized retellings of the Battle of Thermopylae within the Persian Wars, the film was directed by Zack Snyder, while Miller served as executive producer and consultant. It was filmed mostly with a chroma key technique, to help replicate the imagery of the original comic book. The plot revolves around King Leonidas, who leads 300 Spartans into battle against the Persian god-King Xerxes, as the battle rages, Queen Gorgo attempts to rally support in Sparta for her husband. The story is framed by a narrative by the Spartan soldier Dilios. Through this narrative technique, various fantastical creatures are introduced, placing 300 within the genre of historical fantasy, the events are revealed to be a story told by Delios, the only one of the 300 Spartans to survive the battle. 300 was released in conventional and IMAX theaters in the United States on March 9,2007, and on DVD, Blu-ray Disc. A sequel, entitled Rise of an Empire, which is based on Millers unpublished graphic novel prequel Xerxes, was released on March 7,2014. In 479 BC, one year after the famed Battle of Thermopylae, Dilios, the Ephors consult the Oracle, who decrees that Sparta will not go to war during the Carneia. As Leonidas angrily departs, a messenger from Xerxes appears, rewarding the Ephors for their covert support, at Thermopylae, they construct the wall made up of stones and slain Persian scouts as mortar, angering the Persian Emissary. Stelios, an elite Spartan soldier, orders him to go back to the Persian lines, meanwhile, Leonidas encounters Ephialtes, a deformed Spartan whose parents fled Sparta to spare him certain infanticide. Ephialtes asks to redeem his fathers name by joining Leonidas army, warning him of a path the Persians could use to outflank. Though sympathetic, Leonidas rejects him since his deformity physically prevents him from holding his shield high enough, potentially compromising the phalanx formation, the battle begins soon after the Spartans refusal to lay down their weapons. Using the Hot Gates to their advantage, as well as their superior fighting skills, in response, Xerxes sends in his elite guard, the Immortals, later that night. Despite some Spartans being killed, they defeat the Immortals. On the second day, Xerxes sends in new waves of armies from Asia and other Persian city-states, including war elephants, to crush the Spartans once and for all, but to no avail. Meanwhile, Ephialtes defects to Xerxes to whom he reveals the secret path in exchange for wealth, luxury, the Arcadians retreat upon learning of Ephialtes betrayal, but the Spartans stay. 2 Become 1 is a 2006 Hong Kong romantic comedy-drama film directed by Law Wing-Cheong and produced by Johnnie To. The film stars Miriam Yeung as Bingo Leung, a woman who discovers she has breast cancer. The film is based on Xi Xis published diary Mourning For Breasts, Bingo Leung, an advertising executive, lives a carefree life with her friends until she bumps into a doctor, V, who becomes infatuated with her after she rejects him. His interference leads to her discovery of a malignant lump on her breast, everything begins to fall apart as she tries to cope with the loss of femininity in a series of bittersweet events. With the help of V and a shy but talented teenage singer Sing, Bingo is able to cope with her cancer, revive her career, the epilogue shows Bingo years later at a shop buying a bra for her daughter. The posters were replaced with a traditional design, showing portraits of the leading actors. Miriam Yeung reacted strongly to the ban, and noted there was no nudity in the film. Reaction to the teaser poster differed in Mainland China, the Chinese Film Bureau, which is in charge of movie censorship, praised the design for its social value. 10 Items or Less is a 2006 American comedy-drama film written and directed by Brad Silberling and starring Morgan Freeman and Paz Vega. Shot in fifteen days,10 Items or Less made its release as a digital download – the first such release via the Internet – while it was still in theaters. ClickStar, founded by Morgan Freeman, made the film digitally on December 15,2006. This event was highlighted by the American Film Institute in their AFI Awards 2006 Moments of Significance, big D Freeman served as executive producer. The film was entirely in Carson and Brentwood. The film was released in fifteen theaters, taking in $35,929 in its first weekend. The total domestic box-office take was $83,291, the film was more successful internationally, grossing $1,315,931 in the foreign box office, with $486,895 grossed in Vegas home country of Spain. In contrast, Desson Thomson, of The Washington Post, believes that the film is a natural, critical reaction to the film was mixed, with general praise for the work of the two main actors. 5ive Girls is a 2006 Canadian horror film starring Ron Perlman, Jennifer Miller, and Jordan Madley. It was written and directed by Warren P. Sonoda and has available on DVD since March 6,2007. The story takes place at St. Marks, a Catholic boarding school for girls, one day, a young student, Elizabeth, is studying in a classroom on the third floor when, without warning, she is attacked by unseen evil forces. Marks priests, Father Drake, attempts to save Elizabeth from the apparently demonic aggressor, but he proves to be powerless against it. The school is shut down, and all of the students are removed from campus by worried families. Five years later, the school reopens, five troubled and unwanted girls are left by their families at the school, Alex, Mara, Cecilia, Leah, and Connie. The girls are forbidden to go to the third floor. Cecilia and Mara enter the floor, prompting Miss Pearce to punish the responsible party. Alex takes the blame and is beaten with a ruler. Alex begins to have visions of Elizabeth being possessed by a demon, other strange things begin to happen, revealing that all five girls possess supernatural gifts. Connie attempts to drown Leah and the passes into her while Connie falls dead. The possessed Leah goes to confront Father Drake, at time the name of the demon is revealed. They argue, Father Drake attempts to exorcise her, and Leah uses her demon powers to stab him with gold crucifixes. Alex, Mara, and Cecilia have been reading Elizabeths journal, which appeared after Connies possession and they split up to search for the others, Mara finding Father Drake, Alex finding Connie, and Cecilia running into the demon. After a prolonged fight where Cecilia is severely bloodied and Leahs head is smashed in with a book, Legion moves on to Cecilia, terrified, Mara and Alex try to flee, but Ms. Pearce locks them in and breaks Maras healing hand. It is revealed that Ms. Pearce is Elizabeths sister, and is trying to save her from Legion, Mara and Alex then hole up in the bedroom and use Connies spellbook to create a protective circle. Cecilia/Legion finds them and, while she cannot initially penetrate the circle, uses her own blood to cover over the lines, Miss Pearce is in another part of the building, chanting. Elizabeths body slowly begins to appear before vanishing again, Mara is chasing Alex, who gets stabbed in the stomach

7 Years is a 2006 French drama film starring Bruno Todeschini, Valerie Donzelli and Cyril Troley. It is written and directed by Jean-Pascal Hattu, the film explores the sexual tension between a wife and a husband serving a long jail sentence. Valerie Donzellis performance in the film won her awards at the Seattle International Film Festival, Maïté is the devoted young wife of Vincent, who is serving 7 years in prison for an unspecified crime. She brings Vincent clean clothes, and puts money in his canteen account and she and Vincent obviously still need each other sexually, and it is difficult for both of them to be separated. One day Maïté is approached by a man named Jean. They quickly embark on a relationship, but Maïté is cold. She has a relationship with her neighbour, Djamila, who has a small son. Maïté looks after him frequently whilst Djamila is at work, eventually Maïté discovers that Jean is in fact a guard at her husbands prison. The affair takes a turn when Vincent finds out, instead of stopping them and he advises Jean how to move Maïté emotionally and sexually, however, Jean tells him she is empty. As Jean falls in love with Maïté, she tries to distance herself from both of them, however, as Jean leaves to take up a post in Lille, Vincent attempts suicide and in final scene she is seen walking confidently into the prison to visit him once again

Filmmakers Ray Nowosielski and John Duffy first became interested in making a film about the September 11 attacks when they found Paul Thompsons Complete 911 Timeline website in spring 2003. After obtaining funding, they met Thompson in September 2004, who agreed to let them adapt his work and he agreed to join the production as executive producer, and in the spring of 2005, helped them get interviews with three of the Jersey Girls. Production ended in December 2005, with post-production completed in July 2006, the film premiered theatrically in September 2006 in New York City and the San Francisco Bay area. It received a simultaneous limited DVD release in over fifty cities across America as well as Canada, Great Britain, the Czech Republic, Australia, and Japan. 9/11, Press for Truth follows three of the Jersey Girls, as well as other family members in their search for answers about the September 11 attacks. Among their questions were, Why had the U. S. military defenses failed to any of the four hijacked planes. Why was there a lack of response by the president. How did U. S. intelligence miss the escape of terrorists from Afghanistan to Pakistan during time of war, why did the U. S. consider Pakistan an ally in the fight against terrorism when Pakistans own intelligence service, ISI, apparently was funding terrorism. The film uses archive footage, interviews, press conferences and newspaper clippings to document the attacks. The family members in turn, set up a group called the 9/11 Family Steering Committee, to monitor the Commission, the segment ends with the Jersey Girls complaining that the eventual report of the 9/11 Commission failed to meet their expectations. The second part begins by expounding the Jersey Girls complaints of what they perceive as unsatisfactory coverage by the U. S. news media and he then describes the August 6,2001 Presidents Daily Brief that gave a general warning about a possible attack. It also elaborates briefly on the Soviet-Afghan War and how the Afghan Muhajadeen, the film concludes with a final reflection on what it sees as shortcomings in the U. S. news media. The film was reviewed by New Zealand news site Scoop. co, Nowosielski and Duffy later produced the documentary Who is Rich Blee, deducing the identities of several CIA agents inside the Bin Laden Issue Station in the years immediately before 2001. Before publication, the CIA threatened them under the Intelligence Identities Protection Act and their documentary was posted with the names redacted. 9/Tenths is a 2006 film directed by Bob Degus about the conflict between a wealthy couple and a poor laborer after a worldwide terrorist attack isolates them in a small remote ranch. The film stars Gabrielle Anwar, Henry Ian Cusick and Dave Baez, the film was filmed outside of Los Angeles, CA in Canyon Country. The world premiere of the film was at the 2006 Sedona International Film Festival on February 24,2006, the film takes place sometime in the not too distant future where terrorist attacks are on the rise and cities are the primary targets. Jessica and husband William have fled the city amid the increasing terrorist threats, William is excited to relocate to his newly purchased ranch hundreds of miles from nowhere. Jessica reluctantly humors her husband and his fears by going along. On their arrival, William and Jessica discover someone already living in their house, Elias proves quite an intimidating presence when the couple discovers him in their kitchen butchering a freshly killed animal. But Elias soon explains in his broken English that he was the caretaker for the owner who had promised to let him continue living there as a reward for his services. William knows of no such arrangement and quickly attempts to get rid of this man he sees as nothing more than a trespasser, Elias sees the couple the same way and develops his own ideas about sending them back to the city. Meanwhile, it becomes obvious that William is of little use in this rustic environment that Elias calls home. Even a simple task like fixing a broken water heater is beyond Williams range of expertise, I pay people to do these things for me, he blurts out. Obviously successful in the world, William is at a loss in his newfound sanctuary. Williams frustration festers as he observes Eliass adroitness with such tasks, the three are cut off from everything, completely in the dark as to whether anybody at all, is left alive in the area, the country or even the world. Civilization as they have to know it may have ended and this alters the dynamic between the pampered city couple that are totally invested in what is known as civilization, and the self-sufficient Elias. As time goes by and the couples supplies diminish, Elias, formerly a second-class citizen at best, the music score for the film was composed by Brian Ralston. The score features 3 solo instruments that are symbolic of the three characters in the film over an orchestral foundation. 9mm Sunrise is a 2006 action-adventure film that was directed by Scott Shaw. This films stars Scott Shaw and Conrad Brooks, 9mm Sunrise follows its lead character Jack Quick as he foils the plans of two battling gang lords who are attempting to start a gang war on the streets of Hollywood, California. As is apparent in all Scott Shaw films this film follows a storyline and presents images of Hollywood, California, including the Hollywood Sign. Several of the scenes for film were shot on Hollywood Boulevard at night. This film also presents scenes filmed in Los Angeles Union Station. This railway hub was built in 1939 and is considered to be The last of Americas great rail stations. ”It was created in an art style of architecture and is a very visual location that has been featured in many films. Union Station is also a commonly presented location in the films of Scott Shaw and this film is riddled with the unexpected characters, storyline twists and the music video style edits apparent in all Scott Shaw films. One character is a rag doll that walks as if she has no bones. Also included in the characters of this film are a biker, a vampire, a prostitute, Shaw frequently references all of these characters in his films. This film is considered a Zen Film in that it was created in the style of filmmaking formulated by Scott Shaw known as Zen Filmmaking. 10 Questions For The Dalai Lama is a 2006 documentary film in which filmmaker Rick Ray meets with Tenzin Gyatso, the 14th Dalai Lama at his monastery in Dharamsala, India. The film begins as a chronicle of Rick Rays journey through India to interview Tenzin Gyatso, the interview with Tenzin Gyatso begins midway through the film. This section is inter-cut between sections addressing philosophical questions and current affairs, the film also features the daily life of Tenzin Gyatso, his international peace efforts and his work with Tibetan refugees. The film features interviews with a Buddhist monk who fled violence in Tibet and Tenzin Tethong, towards the end, the film touches on the issues of internet censorship in China, changes in Tibetan culture, and the 11th Panchen Lama controversy. Ray asks a range of questions, touching on philosophical, social and political issues, some of the questions asked, Why do the poor seem happier than the rich. How can one reconcile an attitude of non-violence when faced with a threat to ones safety and security. Should countries be dedicated to preserving their traditions or embrace modern culture, will there be another Dalai Lama. The questions are not numbered in the film and Ray admits to asking more than ten questions during the interview. Three years were spent tracking down rare, archival footage of the young Tenzin Gyatso, in the end, the licensing of some of the footage for the film cost more than all the other expenses combined

10th & Wolf is a 2006 film about the Philadelphia Mafia directed by Robert Moresco. It is based on a story of a mob war in South Philadelphia. The film stars James Marsden, Giovanni Ribisi and Brad Renfro and features appearances by Dennis Hopper, Val Kilmer, Piper Perabo, Lesley Ann Warren, Tommy Lee, and Brian Dennehy. While the film is set in Philadelphia, it was filmed in Pittsburgh, with scenes at Toms Diner and Bloom Cigar Company in the South Side and Hartwood Mansion. Tommy is the son of a Mafia hitman, who, after his father is killed by a rival, moves with his brother to live with his aunt, uncle. The sole member of his family who is not involved in crime, Tommy joins the Marines, becoming disillusioned when the conflict ended with Saddam Hussein still in power. And disenchanted with military service, Tommy assaults an MP, arrested when the jeep runs out of gas, the movie opens with Tommy in the brig at a US Marine base. An FBI agent coerces Tommy into infiltrating the family business, the agent tells Tommy that he can protect his brother and cousin, if hell get evidence against the Sicilian mob trying to take over the heroin trade in the US. Tommy is instructed to wear a wire to record negotiations between his cousin and gang leader, Joey Marcucci, and Mafia boss Luciano Reggio, Tommy tries to get incriminating evidence against Reggio, while protecting his cousin and younger brother in their fledgling attempts to become goodfellas. His efforts to strike a balance between his loyalties, and the FBIs need for evidence, take up most of the films bulk.
