50 home run club
–
In Major League Baseball, the 50 home run club is the group of batters who have hit 50 or more home runs in a single season. Babe Ruth was the first to achieve this, doing so in 1920, by reaching the milestone, he also became the first player to hit 30 and then 40 home runs in a single-season, breaking his own record of 29 from the 1919 season. Ruth subsequently became the first player to reach the 50 home run club on four occasions, barry Bonds hit the most home runs to join the club, collecting 73 in 2001. The most recent player to reach the milestone is Chris Davis, in total,27 players have reached the 50 home run club in MLB history and nine have done so more than once. Of these, fifteen were right-handed batters, eleven were left-handed, two of these players have played for only one major league team. The New York Yankees are the franchise to have four players reach the milestone while on their roster, Ruth, Mickey Mantle, Roger Maris. Ten players are members of the 500 home run club. Ten players won the Most Valuable Player Award in the year as their 50 home run season. Mantle is the player to have earned the Major League Triple Crown alongside achieving 50 home runs. Albert Belle is the player to amass 50 or more doubles in addition to attaining 50 home runs. Prince Fielder, at 23 years and 139 days, was the youngest player to reach the milestone while Bonds, at age 37, was the oldest. Due to the infrequent addition of members into the 50 home run club, Baseball Digest called it a restrictive fraternity comprising slugging elite in 1954, of the seventeen members eligible for the Baseball Hall of Fame, eight have been elected and three were elected on the first ballot. Some believe the milestone has become less important with the number of new members. Additionally, several of these recent members have had ties to performance-enhancing drugs, List of Major League Baseball home run champions Major League Baseball single-season home run record List of Major League Baseball home run records General Specific

400-series highways
–
The 400-series highways are a network of controlled-access highways throughout the southern portion of the Canadian province of Ontario, forming a special subset of the provincial highway system. Although Ontario had been constructing divided highways for two decades prior, 400-series designations were introduced in 1952, initially only Highways 400,401 and 402 were numbered, other designations followed in the subsequent decades. Modern 400-series highways have high standards, speed limits of 100 kilometres per hour. As a result, they experience the lowest accident and fatality rate comparative to traffic volume in North America. When the 400-series designations were first applied to Ontario freeways in 1952, originally inspired by German Autobahns, Thomas McQuesten planned a network of Dual Highways across the southern half of the province. The Queen Elizabeth Way was first, an upgrade to the partially constructed Middle Road in 1934, the construction boom that followed World War II resulted in a great number of new freeway construction projects in the province. Seeking a new way to distinguish the controlled-access freeways from the two lane Kings Highway networks, the Department of Highways created the 400-series designations in 1952. By the end of the year, Highway 400,401 and 402 were numbered, catharines, Highway 406 south from St. The first sections of freeways were opened in 1963,1977,1963,1965,1997,1974. Highway 420 was designated in Niagara Falls, though it had built as part of the QEW in 1941. Other major works included the skyway bridges along the QEW and the expansion of Highway 401 into twelve lane collector-express systems, by the mid-1980s, the network had more-or-less taken its current shape, with only Highways 407 and 416 not yet built. Instead, emphasis was placed on expanding existing routes to accommodate increasing traffic volumes, however, extensions of Highway 400 towards Parry Sound, Highway 403 between Woodstock and Hamilton, Highway 404 towards Newmarket, and Highway 427 towards Vaughan were underway. By the end of the decade, construction of Highway 407 and Highway 416 had begun, Highways 407 and 416 opened in the late 1990s. Until early 2015, Highways 407 and 416 were the most-recently designated freeways in Ontario and this has changed with the designation of Highways 412 and 418. Of note are the Ontario Tall Wall median barrier and the Parclo A-4 interchange design, the Institute of Traffic Engineers subsequently recommended this design to replace the cloverleaf interchange throughout North America. Highways in Ontario are among the safest in North America, with 0.63 fatalities per 10,000 licensed drivers in 2010, conforming with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, Ontario utilizes green signs for guidance purposes. Generally, blue signage is used to list services and attractions at upcoming exits, however, several exceptions exist, notably blue guidance signage for toll highways like Highway 407 and Highway 412, in addition to the collector lanes of highways. The baseline standard for the construction of or expansion to a freeway in Ontario is a daily traffic count of 10,000 vehicles per day

1992 Major League Baseball expansion draft
–
The 1990 collective bargaining agreement between MLB owners and the MLB Players Association allowed the NL to expand by two members to match the American League. In June 1991, MLB accepted bids of groups from Miami, Florida, the Marlins and Rockies used the expansion draft to build their teams using different strategies. As the Rockies had an operating budget than the Marlins. All three rounds of the draft were televised by ESPN, as opposed to previous expansion drafts, players from both the American League and National League were available to the expansion clubs. Each existing club could protect 15 players on their 40-man roster from being drafted, at the end of each round, NL teams could protect an additional three players and AL teams could protect an additional four. To further protect the AL teams, a maximum of eight AL teams could have three players chosen, all unprotected MLB and minor league players were eligible except those chosen in the amateur drafts of 1991 or 1992 and players who were 18 or younger when signed in 1990. Players who were free agents after the 1992 season were not eligible for selection in the draft, the Colorado Rockies and Florida Marlins, however, were not restricted in offering contracts to free agents. The Rockies signed their first free agent, Andrés Galarraga, to a contract the day before the expansion draft. Colorado won the toss and chose to pick first overall, with the first pick, the Rockies chose David Nied, who had a 3–0 win–loss record with a 1.17 earned run average in six MLB appearances with the Atlanta Braves. The Marlins first selection, Nigel Wilson, spent the 1992 season with the Double-A Knoxville Smokies of the Toronto Blue Jays organization, in total, the Rockies and Marlins chose 41 pitchers with their combined 72 selections. Of the 72 players chosen,11 were All-Stars during their careers, the following trades were announced at the conclusion of the expansion draft, The Marlins traded Danny Jackson to the Philadelphia Phillies for Joel Adamson and Matt Whisenant. The Marlins traded Greg Hibbard to the Chicago Cubs for Gary Scott, the Marlins traded Eric Helfand and Scott Baker to the Oakland Athletics for Walt Weiss. The Marlins traded Tom Edens to the Houston Astros for Héctor Carrasco, the Rockies traded Kevin Reimer to the Milwaukee Brewers for Dante Bichette. The Rockies traded Jody Reed to the Los Angeles Dodgers for Rudy Seánez, the Cincinnati Reds traded Norm Charlton to the Seattle Mariners for Kevin Mitchell. Several older star players who were left unprotected, including Danny Tartabull, Jack Morris, based on the results of the expansion draft, the Marlins were projected to have a higher payroll in 1993 than the Rockies. The Rockies payroll appeared to be $4 million, less than what the Marlins would pay Bryan Harvey and they attempted to revoke the assignment of Hayes and Ausmus to the Rockies and Everett to the Marlins. Invoking the best interests of baseball clause, Commissioner Bud Selig, in the 1993 Major League Baseball season, the Marlins and Rockies both finished sixth out of seven teams in their respective divisions. Ritz and Painter, both selected in the draft, started Games 1 and 2 of the 1995 National League Division Series for the Rockies
