A film, also called a movie, motion picture, theatrical film or photoplay, is a series of still images which, when shown on a screen, creates the illusion of moving images due to the phi phenomenon. This optical illusion causes the audience to perceive continuous motion between separate objects viewed rapidly in succession, the process of filmmaking is both an art and an industry. The word cinema, short for cinematography, is used to refer to the industry of films. Films were originally recorded onto plastic film through a photochemical process, the adoption of CGI-based special effects led to the use of digital intermediates. Most contemporary films are now fully digital through the process of production, distribution. Films recorded in a form traditionally included an analogous optical soundtrack. It runs along a portion of the film exclusively reserved for it and is not projected, Films are cultural artifacts created by specific cultures. They reflect those cultures, and, in turn, affect them, Film is considered to be an important art form, a source of popular entertainment, and a powerful medium for educating—or indoctrinating—citizens. The visual basis of film gives it a power of communication. Some films have become popular worldwide attractions by using dubbing or subtitles to translate the dialog into the language of the viewer, some have criticized the film industrys glorification of violence and its potentially negative treatment of women. The individual images that make up a film are called frames, the perception of motion is due to a psychological effect called phi phenomenon. The name film originates from the fact that film has historically been the medium for recording and displaying motion pictures. Many other terms exist for a motion picture, including picture, picture show, moving picture, photoplay. The most common term in the United States is movie, while in Europe film is preferred. Terms for the field, in general, include the big screen, the screen, the movies, and cinema. In early years, the sheet was sometimes used instead of screen. Preceding film in origin by thousands of years, early plays and dances had elements common to film, scripts, sets, costumes, production, direction, actors, audiences, storyboards, much terminology later used in film theory and criticism apply, such as mise en scène. Owing to the lack of any technology for doing so, the moving images, the magic lantern, probably created by Christiaan Huygens in the 1650s, could be used to project animation, which was achieved by various types of mechanical slides

Werewolf

Early sources for belief in lycanthropy are Petronius and Gervase of Tilbury. From the early period, werewolf beliefs also spread to the New World with colonialism. Belief in werewolves developed in parallel to the belief in witches, in the course of the Late Middle Ages, during the early period, accusations of lycanthropy were mixed with accusations of wolf-riding or wolf-charming. The case of Peter Stumpp led to a significant peak in both interest in and persecution of supposed werewolves, primarily in French-speaking and German-speaking Europe, the trappings of horror literature in the 20th century became part of the horror and fantasy genre of modern pop culture. The word werewolf continues a late Old English werwulf, a compound of were man, the only Old High German testimony is in the form of a given name, Weriuuolf, although an early Middle High German werwolf is found in Burchard of Worms and Berthold of Regensburg. The word or concept does not occur in medieval German poetry or fiction, Middle Latin gerulphus Anglo-Norman garwalf, Old Frankish *wariwulf. Old Norse had the cognate varúlfur, but because of the importance of werewolves in Norse mythology. In modern Scandinavian also kveldulf evening-wolf, presumably after the name of Kveldulf Bjalfason, use of lycanthropy for supposed shape-shifting is much later, introduced ca. Slavic uses the term vlko-dlak, literally wolf-skin, paralleling the Old Norse ulfhéðinn, however, the word is not attested in the medieval period. The Slavic term was loaned into modern Greek as Vrykolakas, baltic has related terms, Lithuanian vilkolakis and vilkatas, Latvian vilkatis and vilkacis. The name vurdalak for the Slavic vampire is a due to Alexander Pushkin. Tolstoy in his novella The Family of the Vourdalak, Greek λυκάνθρωπος and Germanic werewulf are parallel inasmuch as the concept of a shapeshifter becoming a wolf is expressed by means of a compound wolf-man or man-wolf. Their underlying common origin can be traced back to Proto-Indo-European mythology and this is reflected in Iron Age Europe in the Tierkrieger depictions from the Germanic sphere, among others. The standard comparative overview of this aspect of Indo-European mythology is McCone, such transformations of men into wolves in pagan cult were associated with the devil from the early medieval perspective. In his Man into Wolf, Robert Eisler tried to cast the Indo-European tribal names meaning wolf or wolf-men in terms of the European transition from fruit gathering to predatory hunting, a few references to men changing into wolves are found in Ancient Greek literature and mythology. In the second century BC, the Greek geographer Pausanias related the story of Lycaon, in accounts by the Bibliotheca and Ovid, Lycaon serves human flesh to Zeus, wanting to know if he is really a god. Lycaons transformation, therefore, is punishment for a crime, considered variously as murder, cannibalism, Ovid also relates stories of men who roamed the woods of Arcadia in the form of wolves. In addition to Ovid, other Roman writers also mentioned lycanthropy, virgil wrote of human beings transforming into wolves

Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein

The picture is the first of several films in which the comedy duo meets classic characters from Universals horror film stable. In this film, they encounter Count Dracula, Frankensteins monster, subsequent films pair the duo with Invisible Man, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, and the Mummy. This film is considered the song for the Big Three Universal horror monsters. The film is number 56th on the list of the American Film Institutes 100 Funniest American Movies, Lawrence Talbot makes an urgent phone call from London to a Florida railway station where Chick Young and Wilbur Grey work as baggage clerks. Talbot tries to impart to Wilbur the danger of a shipment due to arrive for McDougals House Of Horrors, the crates purportedly contain the remains of Count Dracula and the Frankenstein Monster. However, before Wilbur can understand, a moon rises. He proceeds to destroy his hotel room while Wilbur is on the line, Wilbur thinks the call is a prank and hangs up. Meanwhile, the owner, McDougal, has arrived to claim the shipments. When Wilbur badly mishandles the crates, McDougal demands that the boys deliver them to his museum so his insurance agent can inspect them, Chick and Wilbur deliver the crates after hours. They open the first one and find Draculas coffin, when Chick leaves the room to retrieve the second crate, Wilbur reads aloud the Dracula legend printed on an exhibit card. Wilbur is so frightened that his attempts to call Chick result in helpless sputtering, before Chick returns with the second crate, Dracula climbs unnoticed out of his coffin and hides in the shadows. Wilbur claims that the opened, but Chick shows him that it is in fact empty. While the boys open the crate containing the Monster, Chick leaves the room to greet McDougal. Dracula now hypnotizes Wilbur and re-animates the Monster and they both leave, and by the time McDougal, the insurance agent, and Chick enter, both crates are empty. McDougal accuses the boys of theft and has them arrested and that night, Dr. Sandra Mornay welcomes Dracula and the Monster to her island castle. Sandra, a surgeon who has studied Dr. Frankensteins notebooks, has seduced Wilbur as part of Draculas plan to replace the Monsters brutish brain with a more pliable one — Wilburs. Wilbur and Chick are bailed out of jail and they assume that Sandra posted bond, but Joan Raymond, an undercover investigator for the insurance company, did so. Joan also feigns love for Wilbur, hoping he will lead her to the missing exhibits, Wilbur invites Joan to a masquerade ball that evening

An American Werewolf in London is a 1981 British-American horror comedy film written and directed by John Landis, and starring David Naughton, Jenny Agutter, and Griffin Dunne. The films plot concerns two young American men, David Kessler and Jack Goodman, attacked by a werewolf on a holiday in England. With Jack killed, David is taken to a London hospital, filming took place in London, Surrey, and Wales. It was released in the United States on August 21,1981, the film received positive reviews from critics. Who praised Rick Bakers make-up special effects, the film won the 1981 Saturn Award for Best Horror Film and the inaugural Academy Award for Outstanding Achievement in Makeup. The film was one of three high-profile wolf-themed horror films released in 1981, alongside The Howling and Wolfen, over the years, the film has accumulated a cult following and has become a cult classic. Two American backpackers, David Kessler and Jack Goodman, backpack across the North York Moors, as darkness falls, they stop for the night at a pub called The Slaughtered Lamb. Jack notices a star on the wall. When he asks about it, the pubgoers stop talking and become hostile, the pair decides to leave, although the pub landlady insists they cant let them go. Instead of changing their minds, the local clients only warn them to keep to the road, stay clear of the moors, while talking, David and Jack end up wandering off the road onto the moors. Jack and David hear sinister howls, which seem to be getting closer and they start back to the Slaughtered Lamb but realize that they are now lost. The boys are attacked by a supernaturally large wolf-like animal and Jack is killed, the attacker is shot by some of the pubgoers but instead of a dead animal, David sees the corpse of a naked man lying next to him. David survives the mauling and is taken to a hospital in London, when David wakes up three weeks later, he does not remember what happened. He is interviewed by police Inspector Villiers who tells him that he, David insists that they were actually attacked by a large dog or wolf. Jack appears to David as a corpse to explain that they were attacked by a werewolf. Meanwhile, Dr. Hirsch takes a trip to the Slaughtered Lamb to see if what David has told him is true, when asked about the incident, the pubgoers deny any knowledge of David, Jack, or their attacker. Upon his release from the hospital, David moves in with Alex Price and he stays in Alexs London apartment, where they later have sex for the first time. Jack, in a stage of decay, appears to David to warn him that he will turn into a werewolf the next day

An American Werewolf in Paris

An American Werewolf in Paris is a 1997 comedy horror film directed by Anthony Waller, co-written by Tim Burns, Tom Stern, and Waller, and starring Tom Everett Scott and Julie Delpy. In development for six years, it follows the concept of. The film is an international co-production between companies from the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, the United States, Andy McDermott is a tourist seeing the sights of Paris with his friends Brad and Chris. When Serafine Pigot leaps off the Eiffel Tower just before Andy is about to bungee jump and she vanishes into the night, leaving Andy intrigued – unaware that she is the daughter of David Kessler and Alex Price, the couple seen 16 years earlier in the first film. That night, Andy, Chris, and Brad attend a club called Club de la Lune. The clubs owner, Claude, is actually the leader of a society that uses the club as a way to lure in people to be killed. Serafine arrives, tells Andy to run away and transforms into a werewolf, the club owners transform into werewolves, as well, and butcher all the guests. Chris escapes and goes back to Serafines house, Brads heart is eaten by a werewolf, and Andy is bitten by another werewolf. The next day, Andy wakes up at Serafines house and he is still in shock, but Serafine allows him to feel her breasts to calm him down. She tells him hes transforming into a werewolf and this is interrupted by the sudden appearance of the ghost of Serafines mother Alex. Andy jumps out the window in sheer panic and begins running away, Chris tries to get his attention, but Claude grabs him and holds his hand over his mouth and takes him to the basement. Soon, Brads ghost appears to Andy and explains Andys werewolf condition. For Andy to become normal again, he must eat the heart of the werewolf that bit him, and, for Brads ghost to be at rest, the werewolf that ate his heart must be killed, too. After developing an appetite for raw meat, Andy hooks up with an American tourist named Amy, Andy also kills a cop who had been tailing him, suspecting Andy was involved in the Club de la Lune massacre. He begins to see Amys ghost, as well, and she begins trying to kill him, Claude and his henchmen ask Andy to join their society, but, to prove his loyalty, Andy must kill Chris. Serafine rescues Andy, explaining that her father prepared a drug to control werewolf transformations, but, instead, as a result, she killed her mother and savaged her stepfather. Claude and the other werewolves raid Serafines stepfathers lab and kill him, Serafine and Andy learn of a Fourth of July party Claude has planned and infiltrate it. They help the partygoers escape, and Andy manages to kill the werewolf that ate Brads heart, the cops arrive, and a fight ensues

Bad Moon

Bad Moon is a 1996 American horror film written and directed by Eric Red and produced by James G. Robinson. The plot involves a man who struggles to overcome the curse of lycanthropy. It stars Michael Paré, Mariel Hemingway and Mason Gamble, the film is based on the novel Thor by Wayne Smith, which mainly tells the story from the dogs viewpoint. Thor was published in the United States, and in the U. K. Germany, Bad Moon received poor reviews and was a box office bomb. While making love in their tent during an expedition in Nepal, photo-journalists Ted Harrison. The werewolf snatches Marjorie and Ted attempts to rescue her but gets bitten in his shoulder, hurt but determined he crawls to his shotgun and manages to shoot the werewolfs head off but not before the beast kills Marjorie. With the intent of living in isolation Ted moves back home into a trailer in the hours away from his lawyer sister Janet Harrison. One day in an effort to out to her and his young nephew Brett, Ted calls them up. Upon seeing him again the family dog, Thor, begins to sense something wrong with Uncle Ted and goes into the woods tracking a smell, meanwhile, having heard of Marjories death and in an attempt at comforting her brother, Janet invites him to stay with them. Shaken and fearful of hurting them, Ted declines and Janet, Brett and Thor leave before the sun starts to set, at Teds insistence. The next day there is a going on in the woods near Teds trailer where the mangled bodies of several missing hikers. Ted, under fear of being guilty, calls Janet. He parks his trailer in her yard in the hopes that in being near his family hell be able to control himself, Thor, however, is aware of Teds nature and becomes suspicious and eventually hostile towards him. Noticing that he out to jog at night with handcuffs. Tracking his scent, Thor follows Ted into the woods and finds him turned into a werewolf, meanwhile, Janet starts looking for Thor and goes into the woods. Aware of her danger, Thor manages to find and distract her back to the house before she finds Ted. While Brett throws out the trash, Ted tries to warn his sister and advises her to start listening to Thor and his change in behavior. She ignores his pleas and he retreats into his trailer where Thor follows him, Ted encounters a suspicious Thor but eventually leaves the trailer with the hopes of chaining himself again

The Beast Must Die (1974 film)

The Beast Must Die is a 1974 horror film directed by Paul Annett. The screenplay was written by Michael Winder, based on the short story There Shall Be No Darkness by James Blish which was published in Thrilling Wonder Stories. The film starred Calvin Lockhart, Peter Cushing, Marlene Clark, Michael Gambon, Charles Gray, Anton Diffring, Ciaran Madden, and Tom Chadbon. The story is, in essence, a conflation of Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None and Richard Connell’s The Most Dangerous Game and it revolves around the search for a werewolf on a far off island by a group of serious minded people out to find it. The viewer is invited to unfold the mystery along with the characters, near the ending, there an inserted 30-second break called The Werewolf Break, where the audience is asked to guess the werewolfs identity, based on clues from the movie. In the interview with director Annett on the DVD release, Annett says he hated the addition of the werewolf break and it was not in Annetts version of the film, he attributes the idea to producer Milton Subotsky. He does admit that some, including critic Leonard Maltin, liked it, an alternate version of the film was released under the title Black Werewolf. This cut omits the werewolf break near the climax, the group is composed of, Arthur Bennington – a diplomat. Jan and Davina Gilmore – a pianist and his ex-student, now wife, Paul Foote – an artist recently released from prison. Prof. Lundgren an archaeologist and a lycanthropy enthusiast and they all stay in the mansion where they are submitted to various tests to detect whether they might be a werewolf. The entire house is under surveillance by CCTV cameras as well as sensors in the grounds around the mansion set up and overseen by Toms associate Pavel. The only way to determine the identity of the werewolf is by for a combination of elements to occur all at once. These include the full moon, and pollen being present in the air from a wolfsbane flower, when this fails to produce any lycanthropic reactions, Tom makes each of the potential werewolves grab silver objects to provoke allergic reactions, but this too proves unsuccessful. Later that same night, Pavel is killed by the werewolf, Tom gradually focuses his suspicions on Paul Foote, who was reportedly arrested after eating human flesh. Foote denies being the werewolf as the creature continues killing, with the pilot, Arthur Bennington. Tom subjects the remaining group to one final test, to place a bullet in their mouth. As Caroline submits to the test, her hairy, clawed hand is shown before she transforms into the werewolf. She attacks Tom and he kills her by shooting her with a bullet, leaving him very distraught

Beast of the Yellow Night is a 1971 Filipino/American horror film, directed by Eddie Romero and starring John Ashley. Near the end of World War II in the Philippines, Satan saves murderer Joseph Langdon from death on condition that he become his disciple. Satan has Langdon inhabit the bodies of people over the years, bringing out their latent evil. His wife Julia tries to support and comfort him during the day, as does his brother Earl, Inspector de Santos recognizes Rogers as being Langdon, and takes him into custody, under house arrest. Rogers attempts to love to his wife but changes again. When he and Nan try to leave the city, they encounter the police and military and Rogers changes again, battling against the combined forces. When a gravely wounded Nan asks Rogers to pray for him, he does so, John Ashley as Joseph Langdon/Philip Rogers Mary Charlotte Wilcox as Julia Rogers Leopoldo Salcedo as Inspector Santos Eddie Garcia as Det. Lt. Campo Ken Metcalfe as Earl Rogers Vic Diaz as Satan Andres Centenera as Blind Man Ruben Rustia as Hospital Doctor Don Lipman as U. S, when the owner of that company fell ill, Romero suggested to Ashley that they finance their own movie. Additional funding came from Roger Corman for New World Pictures, the success of the movie led to Corman making a series of films in the Philippines, including The Big Doll House. Beast of the Yellow Night was released on DVD by Ventura Distribution on Aug 21,2001, the film was reissued several times after its initial DVD release, usually as part of a multi-disc combo pack. Big Fish

Big Fish is a 2003 American fantasy drama film based on the 1998 novel of the same name by Daniel Wallace. The film was directed by Tim Burton and stars Ewan McGregor, Albert Finney, Billy Crudup, Jessica Lange, other roles are performed by Steve Buscemi, Helena Bonham Carter, Matthew McGrory, and Danny DeVito among others. Edward Bloom, a traveling salesman in the Southern United States with a gift for storytelling, is now confined to his deathbed. Will, his son, attempts to mend their relationship as Bloom relates tall tales of his eventful life as a young adult. Screenwriter John August read a manuscript of the six months before it was published and convinced Columbia Pictures to acquire the rights. August began adapting the novel while producers negotiated with Steven Spielberg who planned to direct after finishing Minority Report, Spielberg considered Jack Nicholson for the role of Edward Bloom, but eventually dropped the project to focus on Catch Me If You Can. Tim Burton and Richard D. Zanuck took over after completing Planet of the Apes and brought Ewan McGregor and Albert Finney on board. The films theme of reconciliation between a father and his son had special significance for Burton, as his father had died in 2000 and his mother in 2002. Big Fish was shot on location in Alabama in a series of fairy tale vignettes evoking the tone of a Southern Gothic fantasy, at Will’s wedding party, Edward Bloom recalls the day Will was born, claiming he caught an enormous catfish using his wedding ring as bait. Will, having heard these stories all his life, believes them to be lies, three years later, Edward is stricken with cancer, so Will and his pregnant French wife Joséphine return to his childhood home in Alabama to spend time with his father. Edward’s life is told through flashbacks, beginning with his encounter with a witch in his hometown and she shows him his death but he reacts to it without fear. As he grows into adulthood, he finds his home too confining, and sets out into the world with a giant, Karl. Edward and Karl find a fork in the road and travel down separate paths, Edward follows a path through a swamp and discovers the secret town of Spectre, the cheery locals claiming he was expected. There, he befriends Ashton poet Norther Winslow and the mayor’s daughter Jenny, however, Edward leaves Spectre, unwilling to settle down but promises Jenny he will return. In the present day, Joséphine speaks to the bed-ridden Edward and asks him to tell her the story of how he met his wife Sandra, with Will listening outside the door. Returning to his reminisces, Edward reunites with Karl and they visit the Calloway Circus, Karl and Edward get jobs in the circus where the ringmaster Amos Calloway reveals to Edward one detail about the woman at the end of every month. Three years later, Edward discovers that Amos is secretly a werewolf, Amos, upon returning to normal, reveals the woman is Sandra, and she attends Auburn University. Edward confesses his love to Sandra, but she declines his wedding proposal despite numerous romantic gestures and he then learns she is already engaged to Don Price, a fellow Ashton citizen

Blood & Chocolate (film)

Blood & Chocolate is a 2007 fantasy-horror film directed by Katja von Garnier. Written by Ehren Kruger and Christopher Landon, their screenplay is loosely based on Annette Curtis Klauses 1997 young adult novel of the same name. An international co-production between the United States, Germany, Romania, and the United Kingdom, Blood & Chocolate was both a commercial and critical failure, Vivian is a nineteen-year-old werewolf born in Bucharest, Romania to American parents who then moved back to America. When Vivian was nine years old, her parents and two siblings were killed by two hunters who then proceeded to burn down their house. She then moved back to Bucharest to live with her aunt Astrid, to Astrids distress, Gabriel left her after seven years in accordance with pack law to choose a new mate. The culmination of seven years is only a few months away. This is not, however, what she wants and she begins a romance with a graphic novelist Aiden who is researching for his latest book. Though he is human, he knows much about her kind and their romance is closely watched by her cousin Rafe and his friends Ulf, Gregor, Finn, and Willem, together known as The Five. Gabriel then tells Rafe that Aiden must leave or he must be dealt with, Rafe lures Aiden to an abandoned church with the ruse that Vivian wanting to reconnect and attempts to scare him away. When this doesnt work, Rafe attacks and underestimates Aiden who defends himself, Aiden, who did not know prior what Vivian and her friends were, sees the golden glow of the Loups-Garoux and realizes what hes been dating. The two fight, with Aiden attacking Rafe with a pendant and Rafe turning to a wolf, until Aiden eventually gains the upper hand. Afterwards, Aiden confronts Vivian about what she is, tempting her with his blood and she does not give in but is hurt that Aiden would think she was such a monster. Not long after, Aiden is captured by the pack to answer for killing Rafe and he is made to run through the forest while being chased by the pack. If the pack catches him, he dies, if he makes it to the river and crosses it, he lives. Vivian is scared for him and changes into her wolf form, Aiden makes it to the river by confusing the pack, using his blood to spread his scent and make it harder for the pack to track him. Gabriel, however, is angry that Aiden made it to the river and attempts to him anyway. Vivian helps to protect Aiden by throwing Gabriel off, Aiden, not realizing that the white wolf is Vivian, strikes her with a silver knife causing her to slowly die unless she gets an antidote. After hiding from the pack, Aiden and Vivian find the pharmacist who has the antidote for the poisoning and steals it from him

Blood of Dracula's Castle

Blood of Draculas Castle is a 1969 horror cult B-movie directed by Al Adamson and released by exploitation film specialists Crown International Pictures. Then the real owners of the show up, along with Johnny. The owners refuse to sell, so Dracula wants to force them to sell, in a final confrontation, the vampires are forced to stand in the sunlight and dissolve. The role of Countess Townsend was originally intended for Jayne Mansfield, a sequel, to be called Draculas Coffin, was planned but never materialized. Ostensibly located in Arizona, the film was shot at Sheas Castle, near Lancaster. Other portions of the film were shot in the Coachella Valley, Jayne Mansfield was originally set to star in the film as Countess Townsend. A proposed sequel, titled Draculas Coffin, was announced but never filmed

The Boy Who Cried Werewolf is a 1973 horror film directed by Nathan H. Juran. The film stars Kerwin Mathews in the film he and Juran made after their earlier work. In this thriller, a boy visits his father in a secluded cabin, the boy constantly tries to tell others, but nobody will believe him. Robert Bridgestone, a father, takes his son Richie to the family mountain cabin. During a moonlight hike, the two are attacked in the darkness by a werewolf, during the struggle, the werewolf falls into a ravine and is impaled on a wooden fence, but not before biting Robert. Upon investigation, they find their attacker to be human, unable to identify the body, the local sheriff concludes their attacker was a crazy drifter. Richie insists it was a werewolf but his father and the laugh it off as childish imagination. Concerned with Richies story, Sandy insists her ex-husband talk with her sons psychiatrist, the psychiatrist says that Richies werewolf fixation stems from his inability to accept that his father killed a man, and instead has concocted a fantasy wherein his father bravely battles a monster. He suggests Robert take his son back to the cabin, predicting that when Richie returns to the scene and sees that everything is normal, returning to the cabin during another full moon, Robert experiences a wave of pain and sends Richie off to the stream. As he watches in a mirror, Robert changes into a duplicate of the creature hed killed, when Richie sees what is apparently the same werewolf resurrected, he flees to the woods, crossing a mountain road. The werewolf pursues, causing vehicles to crash, one driver is then dismembered by the creature. Richie comes upon two newlyweds camping, while they dont believe the boys story, they see his distress and agree to take him home. Arriving at the cabin, Richies father is nowhere to be seen, the next morning Robert, appearing dazed and confused, shows up at the camper, and tells the couple hes been searching for Richie all night. Richie tells his father about the werewolf, but Robert is clearly losing patience with his sons fantasies, during the following nights full moon, Robert transforms, and searches through the house for Richie who, in anticipation, has hidden himself. The werewolf then seeks out the newlyweds, pushing their camper down a hill and he mutilates their bodies, carrying away one of the heads. Returning to the cabins shed just before daybreak, he digs a hole to bury the head, Richie, hearing noises, sneaks down to the shed and witnesses the werewolfs changing back into his father. Moments later, the sheriff arrives to report on the previous killings, on the drive home, Richie questions his father about his actions, but Robert dismisses everything, clearly irritable and bothered about his memory blackout. The Boy Who Cried Werewolf is a 2010 Nickelodeon made-for-television film starring Victoria Justice, Chase Ellison, Matt Winston, Brooke DOrsay, Steven Grayhm, and Brooke Shields. The screenplay was written by Art Edler Brown and Josh Nick and it was filmed in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, taking 2 years to complete. Her father David is struggling to make ends meet, while her 14-year-old brother Hunter drives the family crazy with gory pranks and they then inherit their deceased mothers Great-Uncle Dragomirs castle in Wolfsberg, Romania after getting a package in the mail. After arriving in Wolfsberg they meet the strange and steely housekeeper of the castle, Varcolac discourages David from selling the property, but real estate agent Paulina Von Eckberg begins dating David to win him over. One day while snooping around Dragomirs lab, Jordan winds up stepping on a vial of LB-217 with her foot. Hunter manages to pull the, pieces out, but Jordans behavior changes soon after, such as her allergies disappearing, seeing without glasses, in Jordans case, it was revealed to have been LB-217, which is short for Lycanthrope Blood. Jordan continues to succumb to the changes, such as her eye color sometimes becoming blue, after her date with, Goran, the young butcher, Hunter returns home and witnesses Jordan turn into a werewolf. She flees during the night, and Hunter contacts his friends for help and they reveal that there is no cure they know of other than shooting a werewolf dead with silver. Hunter refuses to do this to his sister and they find Varcolac, who reveals that Dragomir was also a werewolf and was the Wolfsberg Beast, protector of the castle and Wolfsberg itself. Vampires had attempted to take over the castle, but Dragomir stopped them before he was ultimately killed, before his death, Dragomir was working on a possible cure to lycanthropy. However, it will take time to gather the ingredients, Varcolac warns Jordan and Hunter to return to the Manor before Jordan becomes a werewolf again. Paulina offers to them a ride, but Jordan struggles in trying to resist her transformation. The car eventually breaks down, and vampires come out, along with Paulina, as it turns out, she killed Dragomir to get the manor and will now kill Jordan. She and Hunter are locked in the trunk and brought to her hideout, Hunter leads David to the hideout as they witness Paulina crafting a silver bullet. Hunter suddenly turns into a werewolf himself, not only is he a part of the bloodline, the werewolves attack the vampires and Paulina before witnessing the rising sun. They use this to their advantage and burn the vampires to death, with Jordan defeating Paulina in a final showdown, Jordan and Hunter return to the manor, where Hunters blood is used in the antidote, which successfully cures Jordan. Varcolac is allowed to continue working there, and gives the Sands the money inherited from Dragomir. Hunter also becomes the Wolfsberg Beast to take Dragomirs place, the family returns to California where Jordan has demonstrated a new confidence and power at school, and Goran transfers to be with her

The Brothers Grimm is a 2005 adventure fantasy film directed by Terry Gilliam. However, the brothers encounter a genuine fairy tale curse which requires real courage instead of their usual bogus exorcisms. Supporting characters are played by Peter Stormare, Jonathan Pryce, in February 2001, Ehren Kruger sold his spec script to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. With Gilliams hiring as director, the script was rewritten by Gilliam and Tony Grisoni, MGM eventually dropped out as distributor, but decided to co-finance The Brothers Grimm with Dimension Films and Summit Entertainment, while Dimension took over distribution duties. The film was entirely in the Czech Republic. Gilliam often had on-set tensions with brothers Bob and Harvey Weinstein, the Brothers Grimm was finally released on 26 August 2005 with mixed reviews and a $105.3 million box office performance. This also marks Terry Gilliams first film to receive a PG-13 rating by the MPAA, wilhelm Grimm and Jakob Grimm arrive in French-occupied Germany during the early 1800s. They go to Karlstadt to rid the town of a witchs ghost, after killing the ghost, it is revealed that the Brothers Grimm have actually set up a fake witch to trick the town. Afterwards, as they are celebrating, Italian torturer Mercurio Cavaldi takes them to the French General Delatombe, Delatombe forces them to solve a mystery, The girls of the small village of Marbaden are disappearing, and the villagers are convinced that supernatural beings are responsible. Long ago, King Childeric I came to the forest to build a city while the Queen experimented with black magic to gain eternal life, a plague swept through the land, and she hid in her tower, while her husband and everyone below her perished. Her spell granted her immortal life, but not the youth and her youthful appearance now only exists in her mirror, the source of her life, as an illusion and nothing more. She needs to drink the blood of young girls to regain her beauty. The Queen is working an enchantment to regain her beauty with the aid of her werewolf huntsman and his axe, crow familiars. The Grimms, with the help of Cavaldi and Angelika, a knowing huntress from the village, after another girl goes missing, Cavaldi takes the Grimms and Angelika back to Delatombe. Because they have failed, Cavaldi is ordered to kill both the Grimms, but, after convincing Delatombe that the magic in the forest is actually caused by German rebels, while Cavaldi stays behind with Angelika in the village, the brothers attempt to get into the tower. Jake succeeds and discovers the Queen and the power of her mirror, meanwhile, another girl, named Sasha, is captured despite Angelika and Cavaldis efforts to save her. Jake rides into the forest alone after a spat with Will, after mistaking a dummy that is smashed into the tower for Jake, Will realizes that Jake needs him to believe in him and assists Jake in climbing up the tower. On the roof of the tower, Jake notices twelve crypts in which the twelve victims must lie, when Sashas body comes up from a well, the werewolf takes her to a tomb

The Cabin in the Woods is a 2012 American horror comedy film directed by Drew Goddard in his directorial debut, produced by Joss Whedon, and written by Whedon and Goddard. The film stars Kristen Connolly, Chris Hemsworth, Anna Hutchison, Fran Kranz, Jesse Williams, Richard Jenkins, filming took place in Vancouver, British Columbia from March to May 2009 on an estimated budget of $30 million. The film was slated for release on February 5,2010 by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and United Artists. In 2011, Lionsgate picked up the distribution rights, the film premiered on March 9,2012 at the South by Southwest film festival in Austin, Texas and was released in the United States on April 13,2012, grossing over $66 million worldwide. In a high tech facility, senior technicians Gary Sitterson. A similar operation undertaken by their counterparts in Stockholm has just ended in failure and they take bets from the different Facility departments as to what kind of monster they want to attack the teenagers and discuss the failures of similar rituals in other nations. In the cabins cellar, the group finds many bizarre objects, including the diary of Patience Buckner, Dana recites incantations from the journal, inadvertently summoning the zombified Buckner family despite Martys warnings. By releasing pheromones, Hadley successfully induces Curt and Jules to have sex, attacked by the marauding Buckner zombies, Jules is decapitated while Curt escapes to alert the group. Marty, a frequent marijuana smoker, discovers concealed surveillance equipment before being dragged off by one of the Buckners and seemingly killed. Later, the Facility workers learn that the ritual in Japan has also ended in failure, ending Japans streak of success and it becomes apparent that the ritual involves blood sacrifice. Curt, Holden, and Dana attempt to escape in their RV, Curt jumps a ravine on his motorcycle in an attempt to flee and alert the authorities, only to crash into a camouflaged force shield, killing him. Dana escapes and swims ashore and is beset in turn, as she is attacked, Sitterson, Hadley, and their staff celebrate her impending death and the successful completion of their ritual, viewing the events from their underground facility. The celebration is interrupted by a call from downstairs pointing out that Marty has survived. His heavy marijuana use has rendered him immune to Sitterson. Marty rescues Dana and shows her to an elevator he discovered under a grave. They take the elevator into the facility, where a menagerie of monsters, utilized by Sitterson. Dana correlates them with the objects in the cellar and realizes that those items gave victims the opportunity to choose the circumstances that will lead to their deaths during the ritual. Fleeing further, Dana and Marty discover a temple where they are confronted by The Director and she explains that, every year, worldwide rituals are held to appease the Ancient Ones, malevolent beings living beneath the surface of the earth, one of them under their own Facility

The Company of Wolves is a 1984 British Gothic fantasy-horror film directed by Neil Jordan and starring Sarah Patterson, Angela Lansbury, Stephen Rea and David Warner. It was written by Angela Carter and Jordan, the film is based on the werewolf story of the same name in Angela Carters 1979 short story collection The Bloody Chamber. Carter herself co-wrote the screenplay with Jordan, based on her own short story, Carters first draft of the screenplay, which contains some differences from the finished film, has been published in her anthology The Curious Room. In the present day, a girl named Rosaleen dreams that she lives in a fairytale forest with her parents and sister. While her parents are mourning, Rosaleen goes to stay the night with her grandmother, the superstitious old woman gives Rosaleen an ominous warning, to beware men whose eyebrows meet. Rosaleen returns to her village, but finds that she must deal with the advances of an amorous boy, Rosaleen and the boy take a walk through the forest, but the boy discovers that the villages cattle have come under attack from a wolf. The villagers set out to hunt the wolf, but once caught and killed, Rosaleen later takes a basket of goods through the woods to her grandmothers cottage, but on her way she encounters an attractive huntsman, whose eyebrows meet. He challenges her, saying that he can find his way to her grandmothers house before she can, the hunter arrives at Rosaleens grandmothers house first, where he reveals his bestial nature and kills her. Rosaleen arrives later and discovers the carnage, but her need to protect herself is complicated by her desire for the hunter, in the ensuing exchange, Rosaleen accidentally injures the huntsman with his own rifle. Upon this blow, the hunter contorts in pain and transforms into his wolf shape, Rosaleen takes pity on the wounded beast, noting that his pack could leave him behind. She sits down, and begins petting the wolf kindly and tenderly while telling him a story, ultimately the villagers arrive at the house some time later, looking for a werewolf within. Instead, they discover that Rosaleen herself has become a werewolf, together, she and the huntsman escape to the forest, joined by a growing pack. Back in the present day, Rosaleen awakes with a scream, perraults Le Petit Chaperon Rouge is then heard being read, with the moral warning girls to beware of charming strangers. He disappears and his bride is terrified to see wolves howling outside, a search the following day yields a wolf pawprint only. Years later, she remarries and has children, only to have her husband finally return. Angered at her having had children with a new husband, the groom transforms into his werewolf form, the Devil offers the boy a transformative potion, which he rubs onto his chest, causing hair to sprout rapidly. The boy is pleased, but shortly thereafter vines grow swiftly from the ground, twining around his legs and he wails in protest and fear, his face distorting with his cries, anguished visage appearing in Rosaleens bedroom mirror at the end of that dream sequence. The Creeps is a 1997 American comedy horror film written by Benjamin Carr and directed by Charles Band. After hes finished, Anna is about to return the manuscript to the stacks when she discovers that Jamison has switched blank paper for the manuscript and walked out of the library with it. Investigating, she learns he used a fake I. D. to access the Rare Books Room and so hires Private Detective, David Raleigh to track him down. Berber is meanwhile gloating over his collection of manuscripts, along with the Shelley manuscript, he has obtained the originals of Guy Endores The Werewolf of Paris. He now seeks the first edition of Bram Stokers Dracula to complete his collection, Berber has invented an Archetype Inducer and plans to use the manuscripts to bring the four greatest monsters from horror history to life to do his bidding. Before David can arrive, Berber zaps Anna with a taser, steals the Dracula manuscript and she regains consciousness and finds herself handcuffed to a table. Berber informs her that she is just what he needs, a virgin between the ages of 20 and 35 to be sacrificed naked in order to make the Archetype Inducer work, David breaks into the lab, having found Berbers address with an internet search. He overcomes Berber and releases Anna and she grabs the manuscripts, and the two hurriedly leave the lab. Unfortunately, Berber had already turned on the Archetype Inducer, and while David and Anna are making their escape, but strangely, The Mummy, Frankensteins monster, the Wolfman, and Dracula are all midgets. Dracula is unhappy that he has brought to life three feet tall, but Berber assures him that he and the other monsters can be increased in stature if he can recapture Anna. The monsters offer to get her for him, Anna isnt too happy either about the $6200 invoice presented by David for his services, and Annas supervisor, Miss Christina, is herself unhappy because Anna keeps dodging her romantic advances. When her advances are again dodged, Christina stays late at the library in order to love to the first edition of Jane Eyre in the Rare Book Reading Room. She hears a noise out on the floor, and in investigating falls prey to Draculas net, back at the lab, Berber is unhappy because Christina was not Anna, and insists he needs Anna. Dracula forces him to try the procedure anyway, and when it does not work, at Davids house, Dracula is unable to get Annas address from David, and tries to bite his neck. David exposes his crucifix and races out the door, assuming that he will lead them to Anna, the monsters and Berber follow as David leads them to the library. When the monsters attempt to capture Anna, David grabs Berber, David pulls out Berbers taser to threaten Dracula, who simply zaps it and causes it to explode. Anna and David are taken back to the lab and Berber prepares for the procedure, Dracula asks for assurance that it will work this time, but Berber wont guarantee it because Anna is not a virgin. Dracula suggests that they find another virgin in order to go through the procedure, the only way to keep everything balanced is to find a male virgin opposite of Anna

The Curse of the Werewolf is a British film based on the novel The Werewolf of Paris by Guy Endore. The film was made by the British film studio Hammer Film Productions and was shot at Bray Studios, the leading role of the werewolf was Oliver Reeds first credited film appearance. Benjamin Frankels score is notable for its use of twelve-tone serialism, the story is set in 18th Century Spain. A beggar is imprisoned by a cruel marquis after making remarks at the noblemans wedding. The beggar is forgotten, and survives another fifteen years and his sole human contact is with the jailer and his beautiful mute daughter. The aging, decrepit Marques makes advances on the jailers daughter while she is cleaning his room, when she refuses him, the Marques has her thrown into the dungeon with the beggar. The beggar, driven mad by his confinement, rapes her. The girl is released the day and sent to entertain the Marques Siniestro. She kills the old man and flees and she is found in the forest by the kindly gentleman-scholar Don Alfredo Corledo who lives alone with his housekeeper Teresa. The warm and motherly Teresa soon nurses the girl back to health, Alfredo and Teresa raise the boy, whom they name Leon. Leon is cursed by the circumstances of his conception and by his Christmas Day birth. An early hunting incident gives him a taste for blood, which he struggles to overcome, soon, a number of goats are found dead, and a herders dog is blamed. Thirteen years later, Leon as a man leaves home to seek work at the Gomez vineyard. Don Fernando Gomez sets Leon to work in the cellar with Jose Amadayo with whom he soon forms a friendship. Too late, he learns that Cristinas loving presence prevents his transformation and he begs to be executed before he changes again, but the mayor does not believe him. His wolf nature rising to the surface, he out of his cell, killing an Old Soak. Shocked and disgusted by his appearance, the local people summon his scholarly stepfather, though torn with grief, Alfredo shoots Leon dead and covers his body with a cloak. The film was adapted into a 15-page comic strip for the January 1978 issue of the magazine The House of Hammer and it was drawn by John Bolton from a script by Steve Moore

Cursed is a 2005 American werewolf body horror film directed by Wes Craven and written by screenwriter Kevin Williamson, who both collaborated on Scream. The film stars Christina Ricci and Jesse Eisenberg as two estranged siblings attacked by a werewolf loose in Los Angeles, the film was a box-office failure and was panned by critics, Craven himself was very displeased with the final result. On a seaside pier in Los Angeles, friends Jenny Tate, Zela foretells that they will suffer a horrible fate, but they dont believe her and walk away laughing. That night, high-schooler Jimmy Myers is picked up on Mulholland Drive by his older sister Ellie, Jimmy had a run-in with some bullies and his crush, Brooke. Driving home, Jimmy and Ellie collide with an animal and another car and they attempt to rescue the other driver, Becky Morton, but an unseen creature slashes the siblings before it drags Becky off and rips her in half. When interviewed by police, despite Jimmys belief that it was a wolf or dog-type animal, Jimmy does research about wolves in California and starts to believe that the creature was a werewolf, sharing his thoughts with a disbelieving Ellie. Later, Ellie is surprised to find herself attracted to the smell of blood on a co-worker, Jimmy is becoming much stronger and more aggressive, as shown when a bully named Bo coerces him to join the wrestling team. He easily defeats three wrestlers, including Bo, and calls Bo out for constantly making gay jokes towards him, at a party, Jenny runs into Joanie, who is paying attention to Jake. Jenny leaves the party, while Jake and Joanie leave as the moon rises. Jenny is torn apart in a garage by a werewolf – Zelas predictions for both Jenny and Becky have come to pass. Ellie starts to believe the werewolf hypothesis when she meets Zela, Jimmy proves they have been cursed when he holds a silver cake server and gets burned, discovering that the picture frame Ellie touched earlier was only stainless steel. Their dog, Zipper, bites Jimmy, tastes his blood, becomes a lycanthropoid monster, and goes on a rampage. Realizing whats happening, Jimmy goes to warn Ellie with Bo, who showed up at their house to confess that he is gay and has feelings for Jimmy, Bo is flatly rejected, Ellie has deduced that Jake is a werewolf. He confirms it, but claims it wasnt he who attacked her, when a fourth werewolf attacks them, Bo and Jimmy try to help, but Bo is knocked out. The new werewolf turns back into Joanie, who was cursed after a stand with Jake. She now wants revenge by killing all of the other girls Jake dates, when Jake refuses to let Joanie hurt Ellie, she knocks him out, then turns into werewolf form and starts attacking. Ellie and Jimmy fight her, and when the police arrive, the police open fire, apparently killing her in werewolf form, but she rises again as her head and heart are still connected. A policeman shoots her in the head, finally killing her, Bo is okay, but Jake has disappeared
