3 Colours Red
–
3 Colours Red were a rock band from the United Kingdom. They achieved their biggest chart success at the end of the 1990s, along with other Britrock bands such as Ash, the band was named by sticking a pin in a London listings magazine, Time Out. It landed randomly on an advertisement for the part of the Polish film director Krzysztof Kieślowskis, Three Colors. They went on to record two UK Top 20 albums, and six Top 40 singles, fox Soccer Channel currently feature their 1997 hit Copper Girl as background music when announcing scores and goal summaries at half time and full-time. In 1995, it was suggested by a friend that bass player/singer Pete Vuckovic should contact guitarist Chris McCormack to start a band. Both had recently left their previous bands and were looking for something new, at first he was told that McCormack was not available as he was busy with Honeycrack. A few weeks later, after McCormack didnt get the gig with Honeycrack, due to location they spent the following months trading four track recordings and developing song ideas via post, until they had enough material to record a demo. The demo, a three song effort featuring the newly acquired drummer Keith Baxter was sniffed at but didnt click, Vuckovic left the early incarnation of the band. In the meantime, and undeterred, McCormack liaising with Gina Walters and it is this inclusion of Terry Thomas that convinces Pete Vuckovic to change his mind and do another demo, after a 30 minute phone call from McCormack begging him to come back to London. Terry Thomas would eventually manage them as well as produce the demos that secured their recording contract, fierce Panda Records released their first single, This Is My Hollywood published by Warner Chappell Music. The band signed to Creation Records, after Alan McGee, Creations founder and discoverer of Oasis, while with Creation, the band recorded two albums. The first, Pure was produced by Terry Thomas, there was controversy over the resulting single Sixty Mile Smile, the lyrical content of which referred to frontman Vučkovićs overnight hospitalisation after taking the drug ecstasy. Frontman bassist and main songwriter Pete Vuckovic was outvoted by 3 to 1 and it would cause a rift that would never heal. The manager sued the band successfully, for unfair dismissal, the deal that was signed by 3 colours red was a two album firm deal which meant Pete Vuckovic was also legally bound to stay in the band even though he wanted to leave after the first album. Revolt was produced by Dave Eringa, at the peak of their success, following the bands biggest hit, the Vuckovic penned Beautiful Day, they embarked upon US tours with Marilyn Manson, Aerosmith and Silverchair. Of course, the validity of musical differences must be at least questioned when taking into account the fact the band would reform in only a couple of years, playing the same songs. Vučković was signed to Sony Records and Sanctuary Management and spent two years writing an album for his new project Elevation, which was never released and he was dropped by the label. McCormack joined Rich Battersby and EMF producer Ralph Jezzard for a stint in Grand Theft Audio, Vučković and McCormack reconciled their differences and reformed the band with original drummer Keith Baxter

12 Angry Men (1957 film)
–
12 Angry Men is a 1957 American courtroom drama film adapted from a teleplay of the same name by Reginald Rose. In the United States, a verdict in most criminal trials by jury must be unanimous, the film is notable for its almost exclusive use of one set, out of 96 minutes of run time, only three minutes take place outside of the jury room. 12 Angry Men explores many techniques of consensus-building, and the difficulties encountered in the process, among a group of men whose range of personalities adds intensity and conflict. In 2007, the film was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant. In a New York City courthouse a jury commences deliberating the case of an 18-year-old boy from a slum, if there is any reasonable doubt they are to return a verdict of not guilty. If found guilty, the boy will receive a death sentence, in a preliminary vote, all jurors vote guilty except Juror 8, who argues that the boy deserves some deliberation. Juror 8 questions the accuracy and reliability of the two witnesses, and the prosecutions claim that the murder weapon, a common switchblade, was rare. Juror 8 argues that reasonable doubt exists, and that he therefore cannot in conscience vote guilty, Juror 8 suggests a secret ballot, from which he will abstain, and agrees to change his vote if the others unanimously vote guilty. The ballot is held and a new not guilty vote appears, an angry Juror 3 accuses Juror 5, who grew up in a slum, of changing his vote out of sympathy towards slum children. However, Juror 9 reveals it was he that changed his vote, Juror 8 argues that the noise of a passing train would have obscured the verbal threat that one witness claimed to have heard the boy tell his father Im going to kill you. Juror 5 then changes his vote, Juror 11 also changes his vote, believing the boy would not likely have tried to retrieve the murder weapon from the scene if it had been cleaned of fingerprints. An angry Juror 3 shouts that they are losing their chance to burn the boy, Juror 8 accuses him of being a sadist. Jurors 2 and 6 then change their votes, tying the vote at 6–6, Juror 4 doubts the boys alibi of being at the movies, because he could not recall it in much detail. Juror 8 tests how well Juror 4 remembers previous days, which he does, Juror 2 questions the likelihood that the boy, who was almost a foot shorter than his father, could have inflicted the downward stab wound found in the body. Jurors 3 and 8 then conduct an experiment to see whether a person could stab downwards on a taller person. Increasingly impatient, Juror 7 changes his vote to hasten the deliberation, coincidentally, it begins to storm outside, rendering his selfish decision pointless. Jurors 12 and 1 then change their votes, leaving only three dissenters, Jurors 3,4 and 10, Juror 10 then vents a torrent of condemnation of slum-born people, claiming they are no better than animals who kill for fun. Most of the others turn their backs to him, except for Juror 4, Juror 12 then reverts his vote, making the vote 8–4

In early January 1966, the band was brought to Houston by producer Gordon Bynum to record two songs to be released as a 45 on his newly formed Contact label, the songs were Ericksons Youre Gonna Miss Me, and Hall-Sutherlands Tried to Hide. The 45 was a success in Austin, and made an impression in other Texas cities. Some months later, the International Artists label picked it up, throughout the Spring of 1966, the group toured extensively in Texas, playing clubs in Austin, Dallas, and Houston. They also played on live teen dance shows on TV, such as Sumpin Else, in Dallas, during the Summer, the IA re-release of Youre Gonna Miss Me became popular outside Texas, especially in Miami, Detroit, and the San Francisco Bay Area. In October 1966, it peaked on the national Billboard chart at the No.55 position, Tommy Halls sleeve-notes for the album, which advocated chemical agents as a gateway to a higher, non-Aristotelian state of consciousness, has also contributed to the albums legendary status. During their California tour the band shared bills with Quicksilver Messenger Service, the Great Society with Grace Slick, upon returning to Texas in early 1967, they released a 45 Levitation and continued to play live in Austin, Houston and other Texan cities. November 1967 saw the release of the second album, the psychedelic masterwork Easter Everywhere. Highlighted by the track, the transcendental epic Slip Inside This House. It also featured a cover of Bob Dylans Its All Over Now, Baby Blue, as a result, they were not credited in the Easter Everywhere sleevenotes, despite having appeared on Levitation and She Lives. Despite the lengthy studio work and resources utilized, and the later legendary status, Easter Everywhere was not the success the band. Lacking a hit 45 and released too late in the year, it out its original run but was never reprinted

Situated on the Rive Gauche of the River Seine and sharing the Montparnasse district with the 6th and 14th arrondissements, the Tour Montparnasse – the tallest skyscraper in Paris – and the neighbouring Gare Montparnasse are both located in the 15th arrondissement, at its border with the 14th. It is also home to the convention center Paris expo Porte de Versailles, the loi du 16 juin 1859 decreed the annexation to Paris of the area between the old Wall of the Farmers-General and the wall of Thiers. The communes of Grenelle, Vaugirard, and Javel were incorporated into Paris in 1860, as in all the Parisian arrondissements, the fifteenth is made up of four administrative quarters. To the south, quartier Saint-Lambert occupies the site of the village of Vaugirard. The geography of the area was particularly suited to wine-making, as well as quarrying, in fact, many Parisian monuments, such as the École Militaire, were built from Vaugirard stone. The village, not yet being part of Paris, was considered by Parisians to be a suburb, pleasant for country walks or its cabarets. In 1860 Vaugirard was annexed to Paris, along with adjoining villages, to the east, quartier Necker was originally an uninhabited space between Paris and Vaugirard. The most well-known landmarks in the area are the Gare Montparnasse train station, the area around the train station has been renovated and now contains a number of office and apartment blocks, a park, and a shopping center. Finally, the contains a number of public buildings, the Lycée Buffon. To the north, quartier Grenelle was originally a village of the same name, the whole area broke off from the commune of Vaugirard in 1830, becoming the commune of Grenelle, which was in turn annexed to Paris in 1860. A century later, a number of apartment and office towers were built along the Seine, to the west, quartier Javel lies to the south of Grenelle plain. In addition, to the south of the highway, an extension of the 15th, formerly an aerodrome at the beginning of the 20th century, is now a heliport, a gym. The early airfield here has been encroached upon by development and a sports centre. The Sécurité Civile has a detachment there close to maintenance facilities, customs facilities are available and especially busy during the Salon dAeronautique airshows held at Le Bourget on the other side of the city. The land area of this arrondissement is 8.502 km2, the peak of population of Pariss 15th arrondissement occurred in 1962, when it had 250,551 inhabitants. Since then it has lost approximately one-tenth of its population, but it remains the most populous arrondissement of Paris, with 144,667 jobs at the same census, the 15th is also very dense in business activities. 16 Horsepower
–
16 Horsepower was an American alternative country music group based in Denver, Colorado. For the bulk of its career, the band consisted of Edwards, Jean-Yves Tola, and Pascal Humbert, after releasing four studio albums and touring extensively, the group broke up in 2005, citing mostly political and spiritual differences. The members remain active in the groups Woven Hand and Lilium, david Eugene Edwards and Pascal Humbert formed 16 Horsepower in 1992 in Los Angeles, California, where they had met building movie sets for Roger Corman’s Hollywood Studios. Friend, co-worker and trained jazz drummer Jean-Yves Tola joined shortly after, the trio performed once as Horsepower before they parted ways with Humbert as Edwards and Tola re-located to Denver, Colorado. In Edwardss hometown of Denver, the once again became a trio with the addition of Keven Soll. By this time they had gained the attention of A&M Records, for various reasons A&M decided to postpone the release of the album, and so the band returned to the studio and recorded their eponymous debut EP which was released the same year. The debut full-length studio album Sackcloth ‘n’ Ashes was eventually released in 1996, Pascal Humbert had re-located to Denver and joined the band as a second guitarist, although his primary instrument is the bass. Following differences about the direction, Soll was asked to leave and was replaced by Rob Redick. Redick did not last long because of what the band has referred to as kind of a mutual unhappiness, jeffrey-Paul Norlander joined on second guitar shortly before recording began on the second album, Low Estate, with John Parish as producer. Edwards and Norlander had previously been in bands together, most notably The Denver Gentlemen. Norlander departed in 1998 and was replaced by Steve Taylor, the guitar technician. Spending two years touring and writing new material,16 Horsepower’s third full-length album Secret South was not recorded and released until 2000. The album marked a change in sound and tone from earlier releases as the up-tempo rock influences had all but vanished completely. The band toured in Europe in 2000 with the new album and this rumour was further fueled by the fact that the band members had begun to focus on solo and side-projects. Humbert had released his solo-debut with his project Lilium the previous year,16 Horsepower, short of Steve Taylor, returned in 2002 with Folklore. As hinted by the title, this studio album took the band further into traditional folk territory. While the band went on tours in support of the album, their creative output was focused on Woven Hand and Lilium. Olden, a compilation of previously unreleased versions of material was released in 2003
