Francis Windebank

Sir Francis Windebank was an English politician, Secretary of State under Charles I. Francis was the only son of Sir Thomas Windebank of Hougham, who owed his advancement to the Cecil family, Francis entered St John's College, Oxford, in 1599, coming there under the influence of the Archbishop of Canterbury, William Laud. After a few years of continental travel, he settled at Haines Hill at Hurst in Berkshire and was employed for many years in minor public offices becoming clerk of the council. In June 1632, he was appointed by King Charles I as Secretary of State in succession to Lord Dorchester, his senior colleague being Sir John Coke, he was knighted, his appointment was due to his Spanish and Roman Catholic sympathies. The first Earl of Portland, Lord Cottington, Windebank formed an inner group in the council, with their aid the king carried on various secret negotiations with Spain. In December 1634 Windebank was appointed to discuss with the papal agent Gregorio Panzani the possibility of a union between the Anglican and Roman Churches, expressed the opinion that the Puritan opposition might be crippled by sending their leaders to the war in the Netherlands.

Windebank's efforts as treasury commissioner in 1635 to shield some of those guilty of corruption led to a breach with Archbishop Laud. In the same year Windebank was one of the promoters of the Courteen association, and the next year he was for a time disgraced for issuing an order for the conveyance of Spanish money to pay the Spanish troops in the Netherlands. In July 1638 he urged the king to make war with the Scots, in 1640, when trouble was breaking out in England, he sent an appeal from Queen Henrietta Maria to the pope for money and men, he was elected in March 1640 to the Short Parliament, as member for Oxford University, he entered the Long Parliament in October as member for Corfe Castle. In December the House learnt that he had signed letters of grace to recusant priests and Jesuits, summoned him to answer the charge, but the king allowed him to escape to France. From Calais, he wrote to Christopher Hatton, defending his integrity, affirming his belief that the Church of England was the purest and nearest the primitive Church.

He remained in Paris until his death. Windebank had a large family. William Laud referred in 1630 to his "many sons", he had five at least, four survived him: Thomas, was M. P. for Wootton supported the Royalist cause in the English Civil War. He was made a baronet in 1645, he was Clerk of the Signet from 1641 until 1645 and again from 1660 to 1674. Francis, supported the Royalist cause during the English Civil War, he was court-martial and shot near Oxford. Christopher, was an Englishman who lived in Madrid and worked as guide and interpreter for English ambassadors. — John, a physician, admitted an honorary fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in 1680 and was buried in Westminster Abbey. Of Windebank's daughters: Margaret married Thomas Turner, was mother of Thomas Turner, president of Corpus Christi, of Francis Turner, bishop of Ely, one of the seven Bishops who, refusing to accept James II's Declaration of Indulgence, were imprisoned in the Tower of London. Frances married, Sir Edward Hales, on 12 July 1669.

Leonid Pastur

Leonid Andreevich Pastur is a Ukrainian mathematical physicist and theoretical physicist, known in particular for contributions to random matrix theory, the spectral theory of random Schrödinger operators, statistical mechanics, solid state physics. He heads the Department of Theoretical Physics at the B Verkin Institute for Low Temperature Physics and Engineering. In random matrix theory: together with Vladimir Marchenko, he discovered the Marchenko–Pastur law, he devised a more general approach to study random matrices with independent entries in the global regime. Together with Mariya Shcherbina, he found the first rigorous proof of universality for invariant matrix ensembles. In the spectral theory of random Schrödinger operators, he introduced the class of metrically transitive operators, discovered several fundamental properties of this class. Together with Ilya Goldsheid and Stanislav Molchanov, he established Anderson localization for a class of one-dimensional self-adjoint operators with random potentials.

He is a member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. In 2012 he became a fellow of the American Mathematical Society

Yutaka Niida

Yutaka Niida is a retired professional boxer in the minimumweight division and former WBA world minimumweight champion. Niida belonged to the Yokohama Hikari Boxing Gym, his trainer was Mitsunori Seki and Hidefumi Oikawa, he first won the WBA minimumweight title at the Pacifico Yokohama on August 25, 2001, when he defeated Chana Porpaoin by unanimous decision. On October 22 only two months Niida vacated the title, with the intention of retiring due to back problems and lost interest in boxing. Niida returned two years and challenged Noel Arambulet for the title at the same venue, but Niida suffered his first loss, by split decision. Niida fought against Arambulet again at the Korakuen Hall on July 3, 2004. Niida has defended the title seven times since he regained it, winning his last defense occurring against Jose Luis Varela at the Korakuen Hall on March 1, 2008 by knockout in the 6th round; however Mitsunori Seki died from a subarachnoid hemorrhage on June 6, 2008, his death gave Niida an intense shock.

Yutaka Niida lost his title via a fourth-round TKO at the Pacifico Yokohama on September 15, 2008 to Nicaragua's Román González. He hung his gloves after the fight. Niida won the achievement award for the 41st Japan Professional Sports Grand Prize that year. In 2010, Niida founded a public company "World Famous" named after the entrance song of his champion days created by the Japanese rapper BiARD for him, established a sports gym "Body Design 新井田式" in Yokohama on November 20. Hidefumi Oikawa works as one of ten or so trainers in this gym. Mercedes-Benz Sprinter

The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter is a light commercial vehicle built by Daimler AG of Stuttgart, Germany as a van, chassis cab and pickup truck. In the past the Sprinter has been sold under the Mercedes-Benz, Dodge and Volkswagen nameplates. In the U. S. it is built from complete knock down kits by Freightliner. They are now marketed by Mercedes-Benz. Rebadged and re-engined Sprinters were sold by Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles as the Volkswagen LT and the Volkswagen Crafter; the first generation Sprinter was launched in Europe in 1995 to replace the famous but outdated Mercedes-Benz TN van dating from 1977. It was voted International Van of the Year for 1995; the first generation North American Sprinter was launched in 2001 in the U. S. and was branded as a Freightliner. Units sold to the rest of North America were badged as Mercedes-Benz until 2003 when they received Dodge branding. Units in the United States and Canada, but not in Mexico, could be purchased as a Dodge or Freightliner from 2003; the product was launched and supported by DaimlerChrysler Vans LLC, a small division based in Huntersville, North Carolina.

Key individuals from DaimlerChrysler Commercial Vehicle Division and Freightliner Trucks were selected to spearhead the effort and made up the bulk of the division. DaimlerChrysler Vans LLC retained sole responsibility for the North American Sprinter market until the sales and parts support responsibilities were absorbed by Chrysler Commercial Vehicle Division in 2004. Nearly all of the original staff were retained, though the base of operations shifted from North Carolina to Auburn Hills, Michigan; the remainder of DaimlerChrysler Vans LLC remained active in Huntersville as an engineering, upfitter certification and safety compliance resource in support of the Sprinter. For 2003, DaimlerChrysler introduced a Dodge branded version of the Sprinter to the North American market, it was identical to the Freightliner Trucks version except for badging. Rather than redesign the aging Dodge Ram Van which had used the same basic body and layout since the 1970s and was discontinued in 2003, DaimlerChrysler chose to replace it with the Sprinter.

From 2001 until 2006, cargo van versions of the Sprinter were manufactured in Düsseldorf, Germany disassembled and shipped to a facility in Gaffney, South Carolina where they were reassembled. The cargo versions, classified as light trucks, are subject to the 25% chicken tax if imported as a complete unit, avoided by the disassembly and subsequent reassembly. Passenger vans were not subject to the same tax classifications and were imported as an assembled unit through Mercedes-Benz in Jacksonville, Florida; the cargo version of this model is reassembled at a plant in Ladson, South Carolina, used as an American LaFrance factory. Like its predecessor, the passenger version is imported as a complete unit; the previous reassembly facility in Gaffney, South Carolina continues to be used by Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation. In September 2018 it was announced by Amazon the e-commerce platform that they had contracted to acquire 20,000 Amazon badged Mercedes Benz Sprinters to be available for small business partners of their proprietary logistics service The Sprinter van was sold as the Mercedes-Benz Transporter T1N due to Toyota using the name Toyota Sprinter, a version of the Corolla.

The model 314 of the first generation is still assembled by Iran Khodro Diesel. It is used as an ambulance; the first generation Sprinter was assembled by Mercedes Benz Vietnam in Ho Chi Minh City from CKD kits to avoid high local import duties. Since 2013 the 2000-2006 Sprinter model has revived in Russia markets only as Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Classic. 2002-2006 grille was used on the Sprinter Classic & the Sprinter Classic used the 2000-2006 dashboard design but this time Sprinter Classic used the steering wheel from the 2006-2014 Sprinter moldels. However the Mk.2 Sprinter is sold in the Russian market. The Sprinter Classic is built by the Gorky Automobile Plant at Nizhny Novgorod; the second generation Sprinter was introduced in Europe in 2006. It was voted Van of the Year 2007 and again in 2008 by Light Truck Magazine. 2012 Information and Fuel Consumption Figures. Known as the NCV3 or New Concept Van 3; the NCV3 appeared in other countries in the 2006 model year. North America received its own NCV3 for the 2007 model year.

The US cargo version of the 906 NCV3 comes in two wheelbases options, two roof heights, three lengths, two weight classes where the 3500's have the option of dual rear wheels or rear super singles. Neither the 128in wheelbase nor the rear super single tires are available in the United States market; the US cargo version are reassembled from kits in an assembly plant located in Ladson, South Carolina, while the passenger models are imported directly from Germany. The second-generation 906 was produced in Argentina only for export markets—except Mercosur markets —from 2007 until 2010, but in 2011 announced new production of the second generation in the Centro Industrial J. Manuel Fangio, in Buenos Aires with the brand new OM 651 engine and exported to the rest of America. Since 2012, it is manufactured for 40 other countries. A class action lawsuit was filed in California state court against Mercedes-Benz alleging the defendant has sold Mercedes-Benz Sprinter models 2500 and 3500 with water that leaked from the air conditioning unit in the roof onto the passenger area.

SS Lindus (1881)

SS Lindus was an Australian iron-hulled coastal cargo ship driven by a 160 H. P. 2-cylinder compound steam engine with a top cruising speed of 10 knots. She was built in 1881 by Edward Co.. Hartlepool, England, her engines were built by Hartlepool. She had a complement of 24 crewmembers. On 4 June 1899, traveling from Newcastle, New South Wales on her way to Adelaide while carrying a cargo of coal the Lindus was caught up in a heavy storm and was wrecked near Newcastle's Oyster Bank, on the wreck of the Colonist at position 32.914°S 151.797°E / -32.914. 2006 Seattle Seahawks season

The 2006 Seattle Seahawks season was the franchise's 31st season in the National Football League, The fifth season in Qwest Field and 8th under head coach Mike Holmgren. The season began with the team attempting to improve on their 13–3 record from 2005, repeat as National Football Conference champions, return to the Super Bowl; the team, while winning their NFC West division, only advanced as far as the Divisional Round of the NFL playoffs, losing to eventual 2006 NFC champions Chicago Bears in overtime. Despite the Seahawks' offense failing to score a single point, Josh Brown had a big day, as he provided all of the Seahawks' points, he kicked a 20-yarder, a 50-yarder, a 42-yard field goal as time expired to win the game.

Meanwhile, the defense limited the Lions to just two field goals. With the win, the Seahawks started out the season at 1–0. On September 11, the Seahawks announced they had acquired wide receiver Deion Branch in a trade with the New England Patriots. In return, they gave their first-round pick in the 2007 NFL Draft to the Patriots. After a low-scoring victory in Detroit, the Seahawks played their Week 2 home-opener against their fellow NFC West rival, the Arizona Cardinals. Unlike Game 1, Seattle's offense got off to a strong start, as RB Shaun Alexander got a 2-yard TD run, while QB Matt Hasselbeck completed a 49-yard TD pass to WR Darrell Jackson. That's. Prior to the game the Giants had complained to the NFL about the level of crowd noise at Qwest Field and suggested that some of the noise was artificial. Last year the Giants were called for 11 false start penalties in a 24–21 overtime loss at Seattle; the complaint became public and the predictable result was a boisterous Seattle crowd and inspired play from the team. Deion Branch saw his first action with the Seahawks as he caught two passes for 23 yards and ran once for eight yards. One day after the game, the Seahawks reported that MVP Running Back Shaun Alexander had a cracked bone in his foot that would sideline him for a few weeks. With the win the Seahawks increased their home game streak to 12 games; the Seahawks met the 3–0 Chicago Bears in a primetime matchup of NFC powerhouses at Soldier Field.

The Seahawks took the lead on an early field goal, but momentum shifted to the hometown Bears. Two Matt Hasselbeck interceptions midway through the 2nd quarter led to 10 Chicago points and a 20–6 halftime lead. Any hopes for a comeback were erased after the Bears scored a touchdown on their first possession of the second half for a 27–6 lead; the Seahawks running attack was diminished without the injured Shaun Alexander. Near constant pressure on Hasselbeck, including 5 sacks, thwarted the effectiveness of the 4 receiver offense that had confused the Giants the week before; the team flight back to Seattle was diverted to South Dakota for a "medical emergency", which turned out to be Defensive Consultant Ray Rhodes feeling ill after the game. He was released. With the loss, the Seahawks went into their bye week at 3–1. Still recovering from the loss to the Bears and without Shaun Alexander and WR Bobby Engram, the Hawks were ineffective for much of the first half. Trailing 21–7, Mike Holmgren blistered the paint in the locker room and a different Hawks team took the field in the second half.

Seattle scored 20 unanswered points to lead 27–21 and looked to have put the game away after a Lofa Tatupu interception late in the game. However, RB Maurice Morris fumbled on the Ram 7-yard line with 2:48 left. A few plays Ram QB Marc Bulger hit Torry Holt with a 67-yard TD pass to give the Rams a 28–27 lead with 1:38 remaining. Matt Hasselbeck engineered a final drive from the Seahawks' 17-yard line and led the team to the Rams' 31-yard line. A premature celebration erupted on the Rams' sideline as the Seahawks were called for an illegal formation after Hasselbeck spiked the ball to stop the clock with four seconds left in the game; the Rams believed the Seahawks had committed a false start which would have resulted in a ten-second runoff on the clock that would have ended the game. Instead, the Seahawks were penalized five yards. Despite the setback, Josh Brown still kicked a 54-yard field goal to win the game, 30–28. Brown's kick was tied for the second longest game-winning field goal in NFL history, behind Tom Dempsey's 63-yard effort in 1970.

Brown became the first player in NFL history to make 3 field goals of 49 yards or longer in the same quarter. In the third quarter, Brown achieved the rare feat of hitting both uprights on an unsuccessful 34-yard field goal attempt.
