Halina Górecka

Halina Sylwia Górecka is a retired Polish and German sprinter. At the Summer Olympics she competed for Poland in 1956, 1960 and 1964 and for West Germany in 1968, she won a gold medal in the 4 × 100 m relay in 1960 and 1964, respectively. The Polish team set a world record in the 1964 final, but it was annulled after one teammate, Ewa Kłobukowska, failed a gender test in 1967. In 1964 Górecka won the became a double champion of Poland: in 100 m and 200 m, adding to her earlier Polish title in the 4 × 100 m relay in 1954. In 1965, at an international meet in Dortmund, she defected to West Germany and went to Cologne to a friend Reinhold Herrmann, they married in 1966. Her appearance for West Germany at the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City did not result in any medals. In Germany Górecka worked as an office clerk. "Tattooed in Reverse" is a song by American rock band Marilyn Manson. It was first released as the second track on Heaven Upside Down; the song was released as an airplay-only single in the United States on March 6, 2018, when it was serviced to active rock radio formats. It peaked at number 35 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Chart, making Heaven Upside Down their first album since 1998's Mechanical Animals to contain more than one charting song on Mainstream Rock, following the top five peak of preceding single "Kill4Me"; the song received positive reviews upon release, with several publications praising its lyrics and Tyler Bates' production. The music video was directed by Bill Yukich and uploaded onto YouTube on March 22, it stars model Glo Taylorr as a patient in a psychiatric hospital, features cameo appearances by Courtney Love and Lisa Marie Presley, who portray nurses. The video received positive reviews, with writers favorably comparing it to some of the band's earlier music videos, while noting similarities to the imagery of American television series American Horror Story.

In one of the first reviews published online for parent album Heaven Upside Down, Greg Kennelty of Metal Injection said that "Tattooed in Reverse" uses "a swung rhythm because it comes off less like Manson trying to emulate a jazzier feel, more like he's brandishing a bat and pacing the floor until he decides to cave your skull in.'Tatooted in Reverse' makes one thing evident that could only be assumed whilst listening to'Revelation #12'—Manson is going to liberally use distortion on Heaven Upside Down, it's going to work well for him. Joe Harris (first baseman)

Joseph Harris, nicknamed Moon, was an American professional baseball first baseman. He played for ten seasons in Major League Baseball between 1914 and 1928 for the New York Yankees, Cleveland Indians, Boston Red Sox, Washington Senators, Pittsburgh Pirates, Brooklyn Robins, he was born in Pennsylvania. In 1918, he was drafted into the United States Army, he was in a truck accident while serving. He suffered 2 broken legs, 3 broken ribs, a fractured skull, thus creating the'lump' under his eye, he did need plastic surgery to help fix his facial injury. In 1919, he was discharged due to injury from the army and returned to the Cleveland Indians for part of the season. At season's end, he played for an industrial team, which offered him a business. Harris played with the team for the 1921 seasons. By violating the reserve clause in his 1919 contract, Harris automatically was placed on organized baseball's ineligible list. Prior to the 1922 season, Harris applied for and was granted reinstatement by baseball commissioner Kenesaw Mountain Landis, in part due to Harris' war service.

In 1923, he led the Red Sox with a.335 batting average, 9th-best in the American League. His.520 slugging percentage was the league's 5th-highest. Chicago Confidential is a 1957 film directed by Sidney Salkow, starring Brian Keith, Beverly Garland and Dick Foran. It is based on the 1950 book Chicago: Confidential! by Jack Lait and Lee Mortimer. Chicago Confidential was the first film produced for Edward Small by Robert E. Kent, a writer and story supervisor at Columbia. Small and Kent went on to make many movies together. A union official named; the crime syndicate responsible for the killing is free to continue its activities. District Attorney Jim Fremont's plan to run for governor can be helped by a conviction of Blane, but thanks to Blane's fiancee Laura Barton he begins to suspect that Blane has been set up, launching a new investigation. Laura testifies in court that Blane was with her at the time of the murder, a neighbor, Sylvia Clarkson, swears she heard Blane's voice there. De novo gene birth

De novo gene birth is the process by which new genes evolve from DNA sequences that were ancestrally non-genic. De novo genes represent a subset of novel genes, may be protein-coding or instead act as RNA genes; the processes that govern de novo gene birth are not well understood, although several models exist that describe possible mechanisms by which de novo gene birth may occur. Although de novo gene birth may have occurred at any point in an organism's evolutionary history, ancient de novo gene birth events are difficult to detect. Most studies of de novo genes to date have thus focused on young genes taxonomically restricted genes that are present in a single species or lineage, including so-called orphan genes, defined as genes that lack any identifiable homolog, it is important to note, that not all orphan genes arise de novo, instead may emerge through well-characterized mechanisms such as gene duplication or horizontal gene transfer followed by sequence divergence, or by gene fission/fusion.

Although de novo gene birth was once viewed as a unlikely occurrence, several unequivocal examples have now been described, some researchers speculate that de novo gene birth could play a major role in evolutionary innovation. As early as the 1930s, J. B. S. Haldane and others suggested that copies of existing genes may lead to new genes with novel functions. In 1970, Susumu Ohno published the seminal text Evolution by Gene Duplication. For some time subsequently, the consensus view was that all genes were derived from ancestral genes, with François Jacob famously remarking in a 1977 essay that "the probability that a functional protein would appear de novo by random association of amino acids is zero."In the same year, Pierre-Paul Grassé coined the term "overprinting" to describe the emergence of genes through the expression of alternative open reading frames that overlap preexisting genes. These new ORFs may antisense to the preexisting gene, they may be in frame with the existing ORF, creating a truncated version of the original gene, or represent 3’ extensions of an existing ORF into a nearby ORF.

The first two types of overprinting may be thought of as a particular subtype of de novo gene birth. The first examples of this phenomenon in bacteriophages were reported in a series of studies from 1976 to 1978, since numerous other examples have been identified in viruses and several eukaryotic species; the phenomenon of exonization represents a special case of de novo gene birth, in which, for example, often-repetitive intronic sequences acquire splice sites through mutation, leading to de novo exons. This was first described in 1994 in the context of Alu sequences found in the coding regions of primate mRNAs. Interestingly, such de novo exons are found in minor splice variants, which may allow the evolutionary “testing” of novel sequences while retaining the functionality of the major splice variant. Still, it was thought by some that most or all eukaryotic proteins were constructed from a constrained pool of “starter type” exons. Using the sequence data available at the time, a 1991 review estimated the number of unique, ancestral eukaryotic exons to be < 60,000, while in 1992 a piece was published estimating that the vast majority of proteins belonged to no more than 1,000 families.

Around the same time, the sequence of chromosome III of the budding yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae was released, representing the first time an entire chromosome from any eukaryotic organism had been sequenced. Sequencing of the entire yeast nuclear genome was completed by early 1996 through a massive, collaborative international effort. In his review of the yeast genome project, Bernard Dujon noted that the unexpected abundance of genes lacking any known homologs was the most striking finding of the entire project. In 2006 and 2007, a series of studies provided arguably the first documented examples of de novo gene birth that did not involve overprinting. An analysis of the accessory gland transcriptomes of Drosophila yakuba and Drosophila erecta first identified 20 putative lineage-restricted genes that appeared unlikely to have resulted from gene duplication. Levine and colleagues confirmed the de novo origination of five candidate genes specific to Drosophila melanogaster and/or the related Drosophila simulans through a rigorous pipeline that combined bioinformatic and experimental techniques.

These genes were identified by combining BLAST search-based and synteny-based approaches, which demonstrated the absence of the genes in closely-related species. Despite their recent evolution, all five genes appear fixed in D. melanogaster, the presence of paralogous non-coding sequences that are absent in close relatives suggests that four of the five genes may have arisen through a recent intrachromosomal duplication event. Interestingly, all five were preferentially expressed in the testes of male flies; the three genes for which complete ORFs exist in both D. melanogaster and D. simulans showed evidence of rapid evolution and positive selection. This is consistent with a recent emergence of these genes, as it is typical for young, novel genes to undergo adaptive evolution, but it makes it difficult to be sure that the candidates encode functional products.
