In chemistry, a heteroatom is any atom, not carbon or hydrogen. In practice, the term is used more to indicate that non-carbon atoms have replaced carbon in the backbone of the molecular structure. Typical heteroatoms are nitrogen, sulfur, chlorine and iodine, as well as the metals lithium and magnesium, it can be used with specific meanings in specialised contexts. In the description of protein structure, in particular in the Protein Data Bank file format, a heteroatom record describes an atom as belonging to a small molecule cofactor rather than being part of a biopolymer chain. Ian Whitten is an Irish rugby union player for Exeter in the Aviva Premiership. He was capped by Ireland on their 2009 tour to North America when he lined out against Canada on 23 May 2009, he plays as a centre. A former pupil of Wallace High School, Ian was recruited to the Phoenix Ulster Rugby Academy in 2007, having represented Ireland at U18 and U19 levels; the 2008-9 season was the real breakthrough season for Whitten with his first senior Ulster cap coming against Stade Francais in the Heineken Cup and he went on to establish himself in the side for the rest of the season. "Chains of Love" is a song by British synthpop duo Erasure, released in May 1988 as their ninth single overall. The song was released by Mute Records as the second single from Erasure's third studio album The Innocents. In the United States, Sire Records released it as the first single; the album version was produced by Stephen Hague and was remixed for its single release. "Chains of Love" became Erasure's sixth consecutive Top 20 hit on the UK singles chart, just missing the Top 10 by peaking at number 11. In the United States, it became Erasure's mainstream breakthrough by climbing to number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 and becoming the group's first entry on the Modern Rock Tracks chart, it hit number four on the U. Tournament sort is a sorting algorithm. It improves upon the naive selection sort by using a priority queue to find the next element in the sort. In the naive selection sort, it takes O operations to select the next element of n elements. Tournament sort is a variation of heapsort. Tournament replacement selection sorts are used to gather the initial runs for external sorting algorithms. Conceptually, an external file is read and its elements are pushed into the priority queue until the queue is full; the minimum element is pulled from the queue and written as part of the first run. The next input element is read and pushed into the queue, the min is selected again and added to the run. There's a small trick that if the new element being pushed into the queue is less than the last element added to the run the element's sort value is increased so it will be part of the next run. On average, a run will be 100% longer than the capacity of the priority queue. Tournament sorts may be used in N-way merges.

The name comes from its similarity to a single-elimination tournament where there are many players that play in two-sided matches. Each match compares the players, the winning player is promoted to play at match at the next level up; the hierarchy continues. Plant Biology is a peer-reviewed scientific journal of plant biology.
