If Beale Street Could Talk is an upcoming American drama film written and directed by Barry Jenkins. It is based on the novel of the same name by James Baldwin. It stars Kiki Layne, Stephan James, Colman Domingo, Teyonah Parris, Michael Beach, Dave Franco, Diego Luna, Pedro Pascal, Ed Skrein, Brian Tyree Henry and Regina King.

It will have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 9, 2018. It is scheduled to be released on November 30, 2018 by Annapurna Pictures.

On July 10, 2017, it was announced that Barry Jenkins would direct an adaptation of the James Baldwin novel If Beale Street Could Talk. Jenkins wrote the screenplay during the summer of 2013, also writing Moonlight during that same time.[2] On August 29, 2017, Stephan James joined the cast.[3] In September 2017, Kiki Layne and Teyonah Parris joined the cast.[4][5] On October 18, 2017, it was reported that If Beale Street Could Talk had begun filming in New York.[6] That same month, Regina King, Colman Domingo, Brian Tyree Henry, Dave Franco, and Ed Skrein joined the cast of the film,[7][8][9][10] with Michael Beach, Finn Wittrock, Aunjanue Ellis, and Diego Luna joining in November.[11][12][13] In December 2017, Pedro Pascal and Emily Rios joined the cast.[14][15] Nicholas Britell will compose the film's score.[16]
