Dame Maud Elizabeth Bevan DBE, JP (née Brand; 18 August 1856 – 8 January 1944) was the daughter of Henry Bouverie William Brand, 1st Viscount Hampden of Glynde and 23rd Baron Dacre, and his wife, Eliza Ellice.

Marriage[edit]

Maud Elizabeth Brand and David Augustus Bevan (born 1856 – died 26 December 1937) married on 22 October 1885. They resided at Shephall Bury, near Stevenage during the 1920s.

Children[edit]

  • Maurice Bevan (born 9 August 1886–6 January 1925) he married Joan Ponsonby on 9 June 1914. They have four children:
    • David Gerald Bevan (2 April 1915-2 May 1988) he married Anne Madeleine Elliot on 25 May 1940. They have children.
    • Oliver Dermot Bevan (25 September 1918-29 May 1940)
    • Elizabeth Anne Bevan (29 March 1916-1967) she married Miles Herman de Zoete on 6 June 1939. They have children.
    • Susan Hermione Bevan (2 November 1921) she married Charles Patrick Russell Bowen‑Colthurst on 9 June 1948. They have children.
  • Nancy Isabel Bevan (born 9 June 1888–1981) she married John Neville Buchanan on 16 November 1915
    • John David Buchanan (26 Oct 1916-2005) he married Janet Marjorie Pennycuik in 1946. They have children.
    • Arthur Goeffrey Buchanan (9 May 1919-17 March 1943)
    • Mary Elizabeth Buchanan (9 May 1919-30 March 1987) she married George Bernard Ward Jr on 28 April 1945. They have children.
    • Peter Alexander Buchanan (15 July 1922-1986) he married Pamela Dione Parker on 25 November 1955.
  • Thomas Richard Bevan (16 May 1890–1970) he married Margaret Turnure on 17 July 1922. They have two children.
    • Timothy Michael Bevan (7 April 1931) he married Georgiana Knight on 12 December 1970, They have children.
    • Prudence Mary Bevan (10 June 1929) she married Thomas Henry Joly de Lotbinière on 15 September 1952. They have children.
  • Colonel John Henry Bevan (born 5 April 1894– 3 December 1978) he married Lady Barbara Bingham on 18 January 1927. They have three children:
    • Jennifer Jane Bevan (11 November 1927) she married John Luke Lowther on 21 February 1952
    • Julian Charles Bevan (13 July 1929) he married Joan Pritchard on 7 February 1955. They have children.
    • Marion Margaret Bevan (1936) she married Peter Wake on 8 March 1960. They have children.

Death[edit]

Dame Maud Bevan died on 8 January 1944, aged 87.
