Medea is a 1969 Italian fantasy drama film directed by Pier Paolo Pasolini, based on the ancient myth of Medea. The film stars opera singer Maria Callas in her only film role and is largely a faithful portrayal of the myth of Jason and the Argonauts and the events of Euripides' play The Medea.

Piera Degli Esposti was an Italian actress. She appeared in more than 70 films and television shows from 1966 to 2020. In 2009, she won the David di Donatello for Best Supporting Actress for her role of Mrs. Enea in Il divo. Degli Esposti co-wrote Marco Ferreri's 1983 film The Story of Piera, which was based on stories from her own life and childhood.
