Royal Military College Saint-Jean
–
The programs are harmonized with those at the Royal Military College of Canada. The four components of achievement are Academics, Leadership, Athletics, RMC Saint Jean offers a low teacher-student ratio, a physical fitness programme, teaching, and leadership activities. The college has clubs, a sports programme and recreational facilities. Conduct of the Preparatory Year academic activities, under the authority of RMC, as well as military and fitness training. Provision of oversight, under the authority of RMC, of the Continuing Studies. Corresponding to the first two years of studies in Quebec, preparatory year is a pre-university program of studies. Military education for Canadian officers is focused on the four components unique to the colleges, military training, physical fitness, bilingualism. RMC Saint-Jean offers courses in French to the French-speaking cadets and in English to the English-speaking cadets, although the college does not offer university-level courses as it did before 1995, credits can be applied to programs at RMC or other universities. So that students can move seamlessly from one to the other, at the end of the first or preparatory year, students who opt for the “General” program stay on at CMR for another year. Students studying engineering go to Kingston, Ontario into the first year at RMC, the preparatory year cadets acquire the necessary academic standard needed to attend RMC. Although the program is intended mainly for students from Quebec, the year is open to students from Canada who need to upgrade their studies before beginning university courses. The academic function of CMR is to educate its cadets up to the year of a college degree. The remaining studies are to be completed at the RMC in Kingston, divided into two semesters, the academic year is composed of 75 teaching days and a final examination period, followed by a supplemental examination period. In preparation for continued university studies at RMC, students select either the Social Sciences programme or the Science programme, each programme is offered in both official languages. The two programmes share core courses, four in literature, three in philosophy, two in Second Language Studies, three in physical education and these core courses are supplemented with courses specific to each programme. The preparatory year students register in either the sciences or science program. The programs are offered in both official languages, the social sciences program features courses in sociology, history, political science, mathematics, computer science, chemistry and physics. The sciences program includes courses in mathematics, physics, chemistry, computer science, the core courses in both programs include, literature, humanities, second language, and physical education

Welbeck Defence Sixth Form College
–
It is funded by the Ministry of Defence. Candidates for the engineering and science group were included in 2005. Academic work is complemented by leadership development inculcating a military ethos, all candidates must be considered likely to succeed in a technical undergraduate course and will be funded through university and accepted into the sponsoring service. Royal Navy candidates are required to undergo the Admiralty Interview Board and are selected into the Engineer branch specialising in Weapon Systems, after undergraduate studies they will enter Britannia Royal Naval College, Dartmouth for initial officer training. After undergraduate studies they will enter Royal Military Academy Sandhurst for initial officer training, after undergraduate studies they will enter RAF College Cranwell for initial officer training. Defence Engineering and Science Group students attend a selection consisting of interviews, there are fewer places for DESG students, and so fewer boards than the other forces. When founded in 1953, the college was housed in the grounds of Welbeck Abbey in the 20, until the mid-1990s, Welbeck only accepted male Army candidates. At any one time there would be 150 students in the college, there were two intakes each year, one in September and the other in January, these were numbered sequentially,1 Entry,2 Entry,3 Entry and so forth, odd numbers denoting September entries. Each entry was split into two houses, Harland and York, named after the original housemasters, each house had a distinct character with different rules. Harlanders generally originated from northern England, south western England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland and overseas, although located in a magnificent building with extensive grounds, the quality of living accommodation was lower than may be expected for sixth-form students at most other comparable establishments. There was one television for each house and until 1990, a public telephone to be shared by all students. There was academic study six mornings a week, CCF one afternoon, sport on four afternoons, Maths and physics A Level were compulsory, with a limited choice for the third subject. Double maths was the option, followed by chemistry, electronics, technology. An additional A Level exam in general studies was introduced in the 1980s, Assessment for entry to Welbeck was by a series of interviews, exams and practical tests over a period of three days at Westbury or York. Little changed at Welbeck between 1953 and the mid-1990s, following the retirement of the colleges military Principal and replacement with a civilian, the first major change occurred and the doors were opened to girls. The overall number of students at the college increased by about 30 and they formed a house known as School Lodge. The number of intakes was reduced from two per year to one, progression into the Army varied according to ability. Whilst it was possible for students to go straight to university, typically Cambridge, for a while in the 1980s and 90s, the decision was taken by an assessment board similar to the Regular Commissions Board

Army Reserve Officers' Training Corps
–
The Army Reserve Officers Training Corps is the United States Army component of the Reserve Officers Training Corps. It is the largest ROTC program, with 20,000 ROTC cadets in 273 ROTC programs at universities throughout the United States. The modern Army Reserve Officers Training Corps was created by the National Defense Act of 1916 and this program commissioned its first class of lieutenants in 1920. For a cadet who takes only the first two years of ROTC, there is no obligation, unless the student is a 3-4 year scholarship cadet or has other specific scholarships. If a cadet has accepted a scholarship, service commitments may vary, with some exceptions, in order to progress to the last two years of the program, the cadet must contract with the United States Army. To do so, the student enlists in the United States Army Reserve Control Group as a cadet, the following is an outline of a general military science program. Military Science I year This year serves as the cadets first introduction to the Army, Military Science II year The second year is an expansion of the topics taught in the first year of the program. Cadets are introduced to tactics, troop leading procedures, basics of operations orders, the aim of this training is to motivate and qualify cadets for entry into the Senior ROTC program. Basic Camp is a version of the first two years of leadership development training that cadets receive at their university for the basic course. Military Science III year The third year marks the beginning of the Advanced Course and this is where most cadets must contract with the Army to continue in the program. Knox, KY AND The cadet has completed 54 credits of college coursework, the course sequence in this year is mainly focused on the application of leadership and small-unit tactics. Cadets are assigned rotating leadership positions within the School Battalion and are evaluated on their performance, under current regulations, attendance at the course is mandatory. Leadership Development Program During MSIII year and continuing through Advanced Camp, the LDP is a structured set of rotations where MSIII cadets are assigned to specific roles in an organization consisting of companies, platoons, and squads. Some of the roles traditionally filled are that of a commander, company XO, first sergeant, platoon leader, platoon sergeant. Cadets are counseled on their performance through the ALRM attributes and competencies, at the end of the MSIII school year, these counselings are collected and help determine a cadets Order of Merit during branching. Advanced Camp Advanced Camp is a paid four-week leadership course conducted at Fort Knox and it was formerly conducted at Fort Lewis, Washington, Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and Fort Riley, Kansas. In 2014, Advanced Camp was consolidated with Basic Camp at Fort Knox and this was a period of upheaval for the training event due to the rapid change of locations and new Cadet Command Commanding General stripping Advanced Camp of its graded portion. For 2014, Advanced Camp, then LDAC, retained its graded portions, during the time it was called CLC, all the graded portions of were taken out and the 4 week period was pass/no pass

Officer (armed forces)
–
An officer is a member of an armed force or uniformed service who holds a position of authority. In this sense, officers are not enlisted, but hold appointments from their government that typically remain in force indefinitely unless resigned, the proportion of officers varies greatly. Officers typically make up between an eighth and a fifth of modern armed forces personnel, in 2013, officers were the senior 17% of the British armed forces, and the senior 13. 7% of the French armed forces. In 2012, officers made up about 18% of the German armed forces, historically, however, armed forces have generally had much lower proportions of officers. During the First World War, fewer than 5% of British soldiers were officers, in the early twentieth century, the Spanish army had the highest proportion of officers of any European army, at 12. 5%. Within a nations armed forces, armies tend to have a proportion of officers. For example,13. 9% of British army personnel and 22. 2% of the RAF personnel were officers in 2013, having officers is one requirement for combatant status under the laws of war, though these officers need not have obtained an official commission or warrant. Commissioned officers are typically the only persons, in an armed forces environment, a superior officer is an officer with a higher rank than another officer, who is a subordinate officer relative to the superior. Non-commissioned officers in positions of authority can be said to have control or charge rather than command per se, many advanced militaries require university degrees as a prerequisite for commissioning, even from the enlisted ranks. In the Israel Defense Forces, a university degree is a requirement for an officer to advance to the rank of lieutenant colonel, the IDF often sponsors the studies for its majors, while aircrew and naval officers obtain academic degrees as a part of their training programmes. In the United Kingdom, there are three routes of entry for British Armed Forces officers, the first, and primary route are those who receive their commission directly into the officer grades following completion at their relevant military academy. The third route is similar to the second, in that they convert from an enlisted to a commission, but these are taken from the highest ranks of SNCOs. LE officers, whilst holding the same Queens Commission, generally work in different roles from the DE officers, in the infantry, a number of Warrant Officer Class 1s are commissioned as LE officers. For Royal Navy and Royal Air Force officer candidates, a 30-week period at Britannia Royal Naval College or a 30-week period at RAF College Cranwell, Royal Marines officers receive their training in the Command Wing of the Commando Training Centre Royal Marines during a grueling 15-month course. The courses consist of not only tactical and combat training, but also leadership, management, etiquette, until the Cardwell Reforms of 1871, commissions in the British Army were purchased by officers. The Royal Navy, however, operated on a more meritocratic, or at least socially mobile, AOCS also also included the embedded Aviation Reserve Officer Candidate and Naval Aviation Cadet programs. NAVCADs were personnel who held associates degrees, but lacked bachelors degrees, nAVCADs would complete the entire AOCS program, but would not be commissioned until completion of flight training and receiving their wings. After their initial tour, they would be assigned to a college or university full-time for no more than two years in order to complete their bachelors degree

United States Army
–
The United States Armed Forces are the federal armed forces of the United States. They consist of the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, from the time of its inception, the military played a decisive role in the history of the United States. A sense of unity and identity was forged as a result of victory in the First Barbary War. Even so, the Founders were suspicious of a permanent military force and it played an important role in the American Civil War, where leading generals on both sides were picked from members of the United States military. Not until the outbreak of World War II did a standing army become officially established. The National Security Act of 1947, adopted following World War II and during the Cold Wars onset, the U. S. military is one of the largest militaries in terms of number of personnel. It draws its personnel from a pool of paid volunteers. As of 2016, the United States spends about $580.3 billion annually to fund its military forces, put together, the United States constitutes roughly 40 percent of the worlds military expenditures. For the period 2010–14, the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute found that the United States was the worlds largest exporter of major arms, the United States was also the worlds eighth largest importer of major weapons for the same period. The history of the U. S. military dates to 1775 and these forces demobilized in 1784 after the Treaty of Paris ended the War for Independence. All three services trace their origins to the founding of the Continental Army, the Continental Navy, the United States President is the U. S. militarys commander-in-chief. Rising tensions at various times with Britain and France and the ensuing Quasi-War and War of 1812 quickened the development of the U. S. Navy, the reserve branches formed a military strategic reserve during the Cold War, to be called into service in case of war. Time magazines Mark Thompson has suggested that with the War on Terror, Command over the armed forces is established in the United States Constitution. The sole power of command is vested in the President by Article II as Commander-in-Chief, the Constitution also allows for the creation of executive Departments headed principal officers whose opinion the President can require. This allowance in the Constitution formed the basis for creation of the Department of Defense in 1947 by the National Security Act, the Defense Department is headed by the Secretary of Defense, who is a civilian and member of the Cabinet. The Defense Secretary is second in the chain of command, just below the President. Together, the President and the Secretary of Defense comprise the National Command Authority, to coordinate military strategy with political affairs, the President has a National Security Council headed by the National Security Advisor. The collective body has only power to the President

Milledgeville, Georgia
–
Milledgeville is a city in and the county seat of Baldwin County in the U. S. state of Georgia. It is northeast of Macon and bordered on the east by the Oconee River, the rapid current of the river here made this an attractive location to build a city. It was the capital of Georgia from 1804 to 1868, notably during the American Civil War, Milledgeville was preceded as the capital city by Louisville and was succeeded by Atlanta, the current capital. Today U. S. Highway 441 connects Milledgeville to Madison, Athens, the population of the town of Milledgeville was 18,382 at the 2010 census. Milledgeville is along the route of the Fall Line Freeway, which is under construction to link Milledgeville with Augusta, Macon, Columbus and they have long histories from the colonial era of Georgia. Milledgeville is the city of the Milledgeville Micropolitan Statistical Area. It had a population of 54,776 at the 2000 census. The Old State Capitol is located in the city, Milledgeville, named after Georgia governor John Milledge, was founded by European Americans at the start of the 19th century as the new centrally located capital of the state of Georgia. It served as the capital from 1804 to 1868. In 1803 an act of the Georgia legislature called for the establishment and survey of a town to be named in honor of the current governor, John Milledge. The white population of Georgia continued to press west and south in search of new farmland, in December 1804 the state legislature declared Milledgeville the new capital of Georgia. The new planned town, modeled after Savannah and Washington, D. C. stood on the edge of the frontier, the area was surveyed, and a town plat of 500 acres was divided into 84 4-acre squares. The survey also included four public squares of 20 acres each, in 1807 fifteen wagons, escorted by troops, left Louisville, Georgia, the former capital, carrying the treasury and public records of the state. The new statehouse, though unfinished, managed to accommodate the legislators, over the next thirty years the Capitol building was enlarged with a north and south wing. Its pointed arched windows and battlements marked it as the United States first public building in the Gothic revival style, governor Jared Irwin soon moved into a handsome two-story frame structure known as Government House, on the corner of Clarke and Greene streets. The new capital was a rather crude frontier community with simple houses, a multitude of inns and taverns, law offices, bordellos. The town attracted several blacksmiths, apothecaries, dry-goods merchants, travelers to the town generally remained unimpressed, noting the ill-kept and overcrowded inns, the gambling, the dueling, and the bitter political feuds. After 1815 Milledgeville became increasingly prosperous and more respectable, wealth and power gravitated toward the capital, and the surrounding countryside became caught up in the middle of a lucrative cotton boom as large plantations were developed, based on slave labor

–
Though military in tradition and form, Valley Forge Military Academy is a college preparatory boarding institution specializing on student leadership. VFMACs administration is composed almost entirely of current or retired military, some graduates pursue careers in armed services, and VFMAC has one Rhodes Scholar. The Valley Forge Corps of Cadets, which is student run, is the only American military organization that maintains British drill. All cadets must pass a board and earn a Capshield to be a member of the Corps of Cadets and it is the only Corps of Cadets in the United States to still have a traditional mounted battalion of one cavalry troop and one artillery battery. All students are members of the Corps of Cadets, the Academy & College was fully residential, but in recent years the academy also offers a day student program. VFMC is the military college that caters to all branches of the US military through the ROTC. Valley Forge Military Academy was founded in 1928 by Lieutenant General Milton G. During the 1935–36 school year Baker expanded the academy to include a college program. Subsequently, the school was known as Valley Forge Military Academy, today, it is known as Valley Forge Military Academy & College. Under federal law, Texas A&M University is one of six U. S. colleges that are classified as senior military colleges. Though students at Texas A&M are technically required to participate in the Corps, the majority of incoming students are excused by the University Administration and the Commandant. Those who elect to join the Corps must participate in mandatory Reserve Officer Training Corps courses, the Corps of Cadets was founded in 1876 with the creation of The Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas, which was established as an all-male military college. Members of the Cadet Corps have served in every conflict fought by the United States since the Spanish–American War, during World War II, Texas A&M produced 20,229 Aggies who served in combat. Of those,14,123 were commissioned as officers, more than the total of the United States Naval Academy. For the schools first thirty-one years, through the 1907–08 academic year, early on, these were designated Infantry companies, but the Commandant ensured that Artillery training was included in the military instruction. The Aggie Band was organized in 1894 as a permanent institution within the Corps, in 1908, with enrollment over 570, a second battalion was added. As enrollment climbed, the Cadet Corps continued to grow to multiple battalions, the academic year 1916–17 saw the division of the Corps into two regiments. The following year, the two regiments had a total of six battalions composed of eighteen companies and a battery of field artillery, in 1918, enrollment surged to 1,284, almost a fifty percent increase over the previous year. In the 1919–20 school year, a Signal Corps battalion and a Mounted Cavalry battalion with one cavalry troop were added, an Air Service squadron with one company-sized flight was added in the 1920–21 school year. In the fall of 1923, the Cadet Corps, with a total of 2,091 cadets in twenty-three individual units, the Composite Regiment included the Cavalry, Field Artillery, Air Service and Signal Corps units. The Air Corps Squadron was phased out at the end of the 1927–28 school year. In the fall of 1928, with enrollment at 2,770 cadets, an Engineer Battalion was added, a fourth battalion, the Coast Artillery, was added to the Composite Regiment in the fall of 1933. The Cadet Corps enrollment hit a peak of 2,770 in 1928, but the Great Depression took its toll, and by the fall of 1932 enrollment had fallen to 2,001. But as the Depression waned and the U. S. involvement in the war imminent, enrollment climbed back to a pre-War total of over 6,500 in the fall of 1941. In 1935, swelling enrollment forced the formation of an Engineer Regiment and that same year, a Chemical Warfare Service Company was added to the Composite Regiment, and the following year a second company warranted the formation of a Chemical Warfare Service Battalion

North Georgia Agricultural College began as a branch of the Georgia College of Agriculture, William Pierce Price, a local congressman, persuaded officials at UGA to use part of the funds to establish a branch of the newly created college in Dahlonega, Georgia, Prices birthplace and home. The college opened classes in 1873 with 177 students,98 males and 79 females, classes were originally held in the old U. S. mint building that was shut down during the Civil War. After the college was awarded the power to grant degrees in 1876, the first graduating class of four consisted of three men and one woman, making North Georgia the first public institution in the state to award a degree to a female. The college had always had a presence, since land-grant schools were required to teach military tactics. The National Defense Act of 1916 that created the ROTC also helped establish the presence that is felt on the campus today. In 1929 the designation of Agricultural was dropped from the name, by 1932 the college was reduced to a two-year junior college. World War II saw a decline in enrollment because of the number of male students joining the war effort and this changed when an Army Specialized Training Program was placed at the college to train junior officers. After the war the college grew because of young servicemen and veterans using their GI bill benefits to attend school, by 1946 the college was reinstated as a four-year college. In the 1950s, Dahlonega provided gold for the leafing of the capitol building and it was also at this time that similar efforts to gold leaf Price Memorial Hall were begun, a project that did not see fruition until 1973. The University of North Georgia has campuses located in Dahlonega, Oakwood, Watkinsville, Cumming, collectively, there is 794 acres of land among the Dahlonega, Oakwood, and Watkinsville campuses. UNGs Dahlonega campus has existed since its establishment as North Georgia Agricultural College in 1873 and it was not until 1879 that the oldest surviving structure, Price Memorial Hall, was constructed upon the former site of the Dahlonega Mint. Today the gold-leafed steeple of the Price Memorial Hall building remains one of the most striking features of the UNG skyline, much of the campus has been developed around the The William J. Livsey Drill Field, more commonly known as simply the Drill Field. Until it was consolidated with North Georgia College & State University in 2013, now known as the Gainesville campus, it is located adjacent to Lanier Technical Colleges campus within the city limits of Oakwood

University-preparatory school

The term can refer to public, private independent or parochial schools primarily designed to prepare students for higher education, in the United States, there are public, private, and charter college preparatory schools and they can be either parochial or secular. Admission is sometimes based on selection criteria, usually academic. Fewer than 1% of students enrolled in school in the United States attend an independent, private school, compared to 9% who attend parochial schools. Public and charter college prep schools are connected to a local school district. The term prep school in the U. S. is usually associated with private, elite institutions that have very selective admission criteria, prep schools can be day schools, boarding schools, or both, and may be co-educational or single-sex. Currently day schools are more common than boarding, and since the 1970s co-educational schools are more common than single-sex, unlike the public schools which are free, they charge tuition Some prep schools are affiliated with a particular religious denomination. Unlike parochial schools, independent preparatory schools are not governed by a religious organization, in most parts of Europe, such as Germany, the Netherlands, France, Italy, and Scandinavia, there are state-funded secondary schools specializing in university-preparatory education. These go by many names depending on the country but may be called gymnasia, athenaea, unlike American prep schools then, they begin after high-school graduation. The most famous French classes préparatoires are exceptionally intensive and selective, taking only the very best students graduating from high schools, nevertheless, there exist many less prestigious classes préparatoires. As a result, 90% of the students in the scientific classes préparatoires eventually become engineers or scientists, a Gymnasium is a particular type of school in Germany and other countries in Europe, with the goal to prepare its pupils to enter a university. The vast majority of Gymnasien is public and does not charge tuition fees, article 7, Paragraph 4 of the German constitution, forbids segregation of students according to the means of their parents. Therefore, most private Gymnasien have rather low tuition fees and/or offer scholarships, every child will be able to enter the lottery, no matter how he or she performed in primary school. It is hoped that this policy will increase the number of lower, a total of zero percent was in favour of the lottery. Germanys oldest Gymnasien include Gymnasium Paulinum, Gymnasium Theodorianum and Gymnasium Carolinum, in Italy, there are several kinds of high schools, both public and private, whose curriculum has as a primary aim the preparation for university. These are called Liceo, plural Licei, the name comes from Lyceum, the Latin rendering of the Ancient Greek Λύκειον, the name of a gymnasium in Classical Athens dedicated to Apollo Lyceus

Seeking to continue the work of their founder by establishing learning and culture and they adopted the successful and prestigious military academy type model, which also meshed well with the monastic life of the monks. The order, discipline, and hierarchy of the military is very analogous to the structures in the monastery. The aim was, and continues to be, to young men in body and soul —- to nourish a love of Truth, foster the life of virtue.
