Ministry of Defense (Indonesia)
The Ministry of Defense is an Indonesian government ministry responsible for the defense of Indonesia. The ministry was formerly known as the Department of Defense until 2009 when the nomenclature changed based on Act Number 39 of 2008 on State Ministries, the name of the Department of Defense was changed to the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Indonesia. The currently-appointed minister is Prabowo Subianto, replacing Ryamizard Ryacudu on 23 October 2019.

Prabowo Subianto Djojohadikusumo is an Indonesian politician, businessman and retired honorary army general who is the president-elect of Indonesia and current Minister of Defense. Prabowo is the third Indonesian President from the military after Suharto and Susilo Bambang Yudhyono. In 1998, he was discharged from the military and subsequently banned from entering the United States until 2020 for allegedly committing human rights abuses.
