MySQL Cluster

MySQL Cluster is a technology providing shared-nothing clustering and auto-sharding for the MySQL database management system. It is designed to provide high availability and high throughput with low latency, while allowing for near linear scalability. MySQL Cluster is implemented through the NDB or NDBCLUSTER storage engine for MySQL. MySQL Cluster is designed around a distributed, multi-master ACID compliant architecture with no single point of failure. MySQL Cluster uses automatic sharding to scale out read and write operations on commodity hardware and can be accessed via SQL and Non-SQL APIs Internally MySQL Cluster uses synchronous replication through a two-phase commit mechanism in order to guarantee that data is written to multiple nodes upon committing the data. Two copies of the data are required to guarantee availability. MySQL Cluster automatically creates “node groups” from the number of replicas and data nodes specified by the user. Updates are synchronously replicated between members of the node group to protect against data loss and support fast failover between nodes.

It is possible to replicate asynchronously between clusters. This is used to replicate clusters between data centers for disaster recovery or to reduce the effects of network latency by locating data physically closer to a set of users. Unlike standard MySQL replication, MySQL Cluster's geographic replication uses optimistic concurrency control and the concept of Epochs to provide a mechanism for conflict detection and resolution, enabling active/active clustering between data centers. Starting with MySQL Cluster 7.2, support for synchronous replication between data centers was supported with the Multi-Site Clustering feature. MySQL Cluster is implemented as a distributed multi-master database ensuring updates made by any application or SQL node are available to all of the other nodes accessing the cluster, each data node can accept write operations. Data within MySQL Cluster tables is automatically partitioned across all of the data nodes in the system; this is done based on a hashing algorithm based on the primary key on the table, is transparent to the end application.

Clients can connect to any node in the cluster and have queries automatically access the correct shards needed to satisfy a query or commit a transaction. MySQL Cluster is able to support cross-shard transactions. Users can define their own partitioning schemes; this allows developers to add “distribution awareness” to applications by partitioning based on a sub-key, common to all rows being accessed by high running transactions. This ensures that data used to complete transactions is localized on the same shard, thereby reducing network hops. MySQL Cluster allows datasets larger than the capacity of a single machine to be stored and accessed across multiple machines. MySQL Cluster maintains all indexed columns in distributed memory. Non-indexed columns can be maintained in distributed memory or can be maintained on disk with an in-memory page cache. Storing non-indexed columns on disk allows MySQL Cluster to store datasets larger than the aggregate memory of the clustered machines. MySQL Cluster writes Redo logs to disk for all data changes as well as check pointing data to disk regularly.

This allows the cluster to recover from disk after a full cluster outage. As the Redo logs are written asynchronously with respect to transaction commit, some small number of transactions can be lost if the full cluster fails, however this can be mitigated by using geographic replication or multi-site cluster discussed above; the current default asynchronous write delay is 2 seconds, is configurable. Normal single point of failure scenarios do not result in any data loss due to the synchronous data replication within the cluster; when a MySQL Cluster table is maintained in memory, the cluster will only access disk storage to write Redo records and checkpoints. As these writes are sequential and limited random access patterns are involved, MySQL Cluster can achieve higher write throughput rates with limited disk hardware compared to a traditional disk-based caching RDBMS; this checkpointing to disk of in-memory table data can be disabled if disk-based persistence isn't needed. MySQL Cluster is designed to have no single point of failure.

Provided that the cluster is set up any single node, system, or piece of hardware can fail without the entire cluster failing. Shared disk is not required; the interconnects between nodes can be standard Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, InfiniBand, or SCI interconnects. As MySQL Cluster stores tables in data nodes, rather than in the MySQL Server, there are multiple interfaces available to access the database: SQL access via the MySQL Server NoSQL APIs where MySQL Cluster libraries can be embedded into an application to provide direct access to the data nodes without passing through a SQL layer; these include: Memcached Node.js / JavaScript Java and JPA HTTP / REST NDB API Part of the commercial MySQL Cluster CGE, MySQL Cluster Manager is a tool designed to simplify the creation and administration of the MySQL Cluster CGE database by automating common management tasks, including on-line scaling, backup/restore and reconfiguration. MySQL Cluster Manager monitors and automatically recovers MySQL Server application nodes and management nodes, as well as the MySQL Cluster data nodes.

MySQL Cluster uses three different types of nodes: Data node: These nodes store the data. Tabl

Gorakh Aya

Gorakh Aya is a 1938 Hindi mythology film from Ranjit Movietone. It was the debut directorial venture for Chaturbhuj Doshi, who had made a name for himself as a journalist and publicist; the screenplay was with dialogues by Pyare Lal Santoshi. The cinematographer was Krishna gopal and music was composed by Gyan Dutt; the film starred Rajkumari, Mazhar Khan, Trilok Kapoor, Kalyani in the lead roles. The film was Rajkumari's debut as a playback singer; the story based on the legend of Machhindra and his disciple Gorakh, involves Machhindra's retreat to the Himalayas for meditation. His belief that women are to blame for all troubles divides the Indian Kingdom into two armies, one run by Tilottama, leading the women's army and another, an all-male army, led by Machhindra himself. Machchindra leves the monastery, he goes for meditation to the Himalayas for a period of seven years and comes to the conclusion that women are responsible for the problems facing mankind. His thinking becomes pervasive all over India.

Meanwhile, the Egyptian Queen plans setting up her camp by the Indus river. A Rishi's daughter in the nearby forest, becomes influenced by the power the Queen wields and sets up a woman's army of her own to fight the invading army. India gets divided into two sets of armies, the women's army, led by Tilottama and the second, all-male, led by Machchindra who has by now defeated the invaders with the help of his army; the story continues with both falling in love. Machchindra's disciple Gorakhnath comes and helps him return to his spiritual path. Rajkumari as Tilottamma Mazhar Khan as Machhindra Trilok Kapoor as Gorakhnath, Machhindra's disciple Kalyani as Vish Kanya Ila Devi Ram Apte Bhagwandas The film was released on 30 July 1938 at West End theatre, Bombay. According to Baburao Patel in his review of the film in the September 1938 issue of Filmindia, "Drastic editing" was required to improve the film; the photography was stated to be "too beautiful in places" as were the trick shots, but the cinematographer was cautioned to handle the outdoor photography better.

Use of an art director would have helped keep "in composition and angle selection". The dialogues were good as was the music, "cleverly mixed"; the direction was praised: "Chaturbhuj Doshi has given an excellent account of himself as a director considering that this is his first effort". The publicity, by having the opening day limited only to women was commended; the box-office verdict as stated by Patel was "Plenty of entertainment with a popular plot makes the picture a great box office possibility". The film was reported to be drawing large crowds in sections of the magazine; the music direction was with lyrics by Pyarelal Santoshi. The film was Rajkumari's debut as a playback singer, she shifted from acting to playback singing full-time singing for nearly a hundred films. The singers were Rajkumari, Ram Apte, E. G. Pargaonkar and Kalyani Das. Gorakh Aya on IMDb

All Saints Episcopal Church (Portsmouth, Ohio)

All Saints Episcopal Church is a historic building in Portsmouth, Ohio. It is located at 610 4th Street; the main mass of the church building was constructed in 1850 by William Newman and is an example of Gothic Revival architecture, the first of that style in Portsmouth. It was built in four sections the first in 1833. Sitting on a stone foundation the brick building has multiple steeply pitched gable roofs. Windows are topped by lancet arches; the main section, built in 1850, is a 52-by-86-foot nave with a high altar. A two story tower with paired narrow windows rises from the southwest corner of the nave; the facade of this mass has a large central rose window and two compounded gothic arch entries each with double vertical board doors. The section of the building called; the first, from 1833, was the original church and retains its original 47 by 34 feet stone foundation. A section was added to the west in the 1880s with a brick foundation and fenestration and buttresses similar to the main mass.

The entries to the guild hall section have tudor arches. Another addition was made in 1953 consisting of a two story 60 by 41 feet cement block with parish house and classrooms. In 1855 it was the first public building in the city to use gas lighting, it has survived an interior fire in 1893 and extensive flood damage in the Ohio River flood of 1937. On June 23, 1819 the Episcopal Parish of All Saints of Portsmouth, Ohio was organized in the home of John Smith; the first rector, installed on June 19, 1831 was Henry Caswell. A sanctuary was built on the church property in 1833, the church website states that the cornerstone for this building was the first for any church in the Portsmouth area; the main building was erected in 1850. The nave was updated in 1972 in 1995 it was restored. Remaining original furnishings include the low altar and an original pew. A chalice from the 1820 visit of Philander Chase, Bishop of Ohio is on display in the narthex set in a niche, it was listed in the National Register on March 25, 1982, significant as striking example of Gothic Revival architecture.

An organ built in 1962 by the Schlicker Organ Co. of Buffalo, New York and renovated and updated by Peebles–Herzog Inc. of Columbus, Ohio in 2006 is installed in the church.
