Simprovised
–
Simprovised is the twenty-first episode of the twenty-seventh season of the animated television series The Simpsons, and the 595th episode of the series overall. It aired in the United States on Fox on May 15,2016, Homer is going to make an annual speech at the Nuclear Plant. His original plan is to repeat the speech he did every year. This makes him so nervous that he passes out on the stage, trying to cheer Homer up, Marge takes him to a stand-up comedy show. At the show, Homer is amazed by the talent to improvise. He, Lenny, and Carl then decide to join an improvisation class and they decide to form their own stand-up comedy troupe at Moes Tavern, where Homers act is acclaimed by the public and the critics. In a secondary plot, Bart and Lisa go to Ralphs birthday party, feeling envious, he destroys his treehouse. However, when he says that moms cant build a treehouse, Marge decides to work hard, at the new treehouse, Marge overhears Bart saying to Milhouse that theres no need to thank her, as she is only doing her job. She gets furious at him, and storms off during dinner, when Marge complains at him about Bart and learns about the fringe festival, she accidentally makes Homer insecure about his own act. The next morning, Bart takes Marges breakfast into her bedroom and apologizes, later at the festival, Moe advises a still insecure Homer that he should cheat on his improvisation act, letting Moe pick his premises. However, Lisa finds out about their plans and convinces Homer to make his show the proper way and he does so, and his on-the-spot act is well-received by the audience. Homer is then seen taking questions from viewers as different characters pass by him even when the credits roll. In the international version of the segment of the episode the characters and sight gags remain. Instead Homer gives a three minute monologue chronicling his intentions to run for presidency, only to himself out of it by the end of his speech. Simprovised scored a 1.2 rating and was watched by 2.80 million viewers, club was positive on Simprovised, giving it a B+. He explained What’s so entertaining about Homer’s journey in Simprovised is how it grows out of his character, sure, the episode is pretty streamlined, since those last three minutes were set aside for the big ratings-grab, but lopping off the opening credits entirely helped. There’s even time for a truncated but effective B-story, with Marge getting pissed at Bart for not appreciating her building him a new treehouse, IGN reviewer Jesse Schedeen gave the episode a 6. 4/10. He criticized the episode itself, but enjoyed the part, adding For the most part

The Simpsons (season 1)
–
The Simpsons first season originally aired on the Fox network between December 17,1989 and May 13,1990, beginning with the Christmas special Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire. The executive producers for the first production season were Matt Groening, James L. Brooks, the producers considered aborting the series if the next episode turned out as bad, but it only suffered from easily fixable problems. The producers convinced Fox to move the debut to December 17, the first season won one Emmy Award, and received four additional nominations. The DVD boxset was released on September 25,2001 in Region 1, Season one was also released for the iTunes Store on December 22,2010, dubbed a digital edition. The Simpsons creator Matt Groening conceived the idea for the Simpsons in the lobby of James L. Brookss office, Brooks, the producer of the sketch comedy program The Tracey Ullman Show, wanted to use a series of animated shorts as bumpers between sketches. He had asked Groening to pitch an idea for a series of animated shorts, the Simpson family first appeared as shorts in The Tracey Ullman Show on April 19,1987. Groening submitted only basic sketches to the animators and assumed that the figures would be cleaned up in production, the animators merely re-traced his drawings, which led to the crude appearance of the characters in the initial short episodes. In 1989, a team of companies adapted The Simpsons into a half-hour series for the Fox Broadcasting Company. The team included what is now the Klasky Csupo animation house, during the years of producing the shorts, everything was created in-house. Due to the workload of the full-length episodes, production was subcontracted to South Korean animation studio AKOM. While character and background layout is done by the studio, tweening, coloring. The Simpsons was co-developed by Groening, James L. Brooks, and Sam Simon, Groening and Simon, however, did not get along and were often in conflict over the show, Groening once described their relationship as very contentious. Groening said his goal in creating the show was to offer the audience an alternative to what he called the mainstream trash that they were watching, Brooks negotiated a provision in the contract with the Fox network that prevented Fox from interfering with the shows content. Fox was nervous about the show because they were unsure if it could sustain the attention for the duration of the episode. They proposed doing three seven-minute shorts per episode and four specials until the audience adjusted, but in the end, the producers gambled by asking Fox for 13 full-length episodes. Simon assembled and led the team of writers, consisting of John Swartzwelder, Jon Vitti, George Meyer, Jeff Martin, Al Jean, Mike Reiss, Jay Kogen. Simon has been credited as developing sensibility, ken Levine says he brought a level of honesty to the characters and made them three-dimensional, adding that Simons comedy is all about character, not just a string of gags. In The Simpsons, the characters are motivated by their emotions, what are they thinking. —that is Sams contribution

Brooks, were against the move because The Simpsons had been in the top 10 while airing on Sunday, all through the summer of 1990, several news outlets published stories about the supposed Bill vs. Bart rivalry. At the time, NBC had 208 television stations, while Fox only had 133, Bart Gets an F was the first episode to air against The Cosby Show and averaged an 18.4 Nielsen rating and 29% of the audience. In the weeks ratings, it finished tied for eighth behind The Cosby Show which had an 18.5 rating, however, an estimated 33.6 million viewers watched the episode, making it the number one show in terms of actual viewers that week. At the time, it was the most watched episode in the history of Fox, the next week, Simpson and Delilah had a 16.2 rating and 25% share while the Cosby Show managed to maintain its 18.5 rating. However, viewer-wise, The Simpsons won again with 29.9 million viewers, the next week, Treehouse of Horror fell in the ratings, finishing 24th. Ratings wise, new episodes of The Cosby Show beat The Simpsons every time during the second season, three Men and a Comic Book would boast the only victory over The Cosby Show, finishing 23rd in the weekly ratings while a rerun of Cosby finished 26th. At the end of the season, Cosby averaged as the fifth highest rated show on television while The Simpsons was 38th and it would not be until the third season episode Homer at the Bat that The Simpsons would beat The Cosby Show in the ratings. The show remained in its Thursday timeslot until the sixth season, on aggregate review website Metacritic, a site which uses a weighted mean score, the season scored a 91/100 based on seven critics, indicating universal acclaim. The Simpsons (season 15)

The Simpsons fifteenth season began on Sunday, November 2,2003, with Treehouse of Horror XIV. The season contains five episodes from the season 14 production line. The most watched episode had 16.2 million viewers and the least watched had 6.2 million viewers, Season 15 received positive reviews, though many reviewers commented that while the episodes were generally enjoyable, they were lesser shows than those of the series first decade. The general consensus is that marked an improvement over the early teen seasons. High Def Digest gave a rating of 4 stars, writing The Simpsons is one of only a handful of shows that I know Im guaranteed to laugh out loud at least once an episode. Even though the cutting wit of the first decade lost its edge a bit, there arent many things that are better than sitting down with a new season of The Simpsons on Blu-ray and watching every episode back to back as fast as I possibly can. While the episodes sort of blend together, the humor is still there, craveOnline rated the season 8. 5/10, noting Some Simpsons fans gave up during a perceived rough patch around season 12, and boy have they missed out. Season 13 was a favorite of mine, but now were over the hump on the DVD releases. Season 15 is kind of a spot, because its got some highlight episodes I love. DVDActive said The Simpsons season 15 isnt one of the series best, screenJabber gave a rating of 4 stars, writing Imagine my surprise when I sat down to review Season 15. and realised that I had never seen most of its episodes. Imagine, then, my joy at being able to enjoy almost 22 episodes of factory-fresh Simpsons, and even though some of the cultural references are a little dated, theres still an awful lot to laugh at and enjoy here. As always, this season of The Simpsons features a stellar line-up of guest stars, and, as always, there are some standout episodes. All in all, a more than decent season of long, long-running show. DIY wrote While Season 15 of The Simpsons may not be golden from start to finish it has a great to soggy episode ratio than more recent seasons. In fact, there are some real gems amongst the 22 episodes. Boxofficebuz gave it 4 stars, and said. Throw in flashback episode The Way We, Pie-Man antics in Simple Simpson, a definite uptick over the previous couple seasons. BubbleBlabber rated it 9.0 out of 10, and concluded In terms of the content, Season 15 was a highly underrated season for The Simpsons, dVDMg gave the season a B, and wrote Should viewers expect greatness from Season 15 of The Simpsons. No, as the year comes with some mediocre shows, still, it delivers a reasonable number of good episodes and seems worthwhile overall. S15 wont win over new fans, but its usually fun

Entertainment Focus gave it 4 out of 5 stars, concluding Some people have criticised The Simpsons claiming that the show is tired and has passed its prime. We dont agree with people at all and think The Simpsons has been remarkably consistent in terms of its humour. Sure it may have been eclipsed by the edgier Family Guy in more recent years but The Simpsons is, the Simpsons, Season 16 is another cracking instalment of the hit show and we still, after all these years, just cant get enough. Sixteen seasons in, it seems that the show is a mixture of been-there-done-that sentiment, aside from the so-so image, theres plenty here to keep the die-hard Simpsons fan happy, so this one comes recommended for fans. Cinema Sentries said This is not something to pick up if you are a general TV fan, the overall quality of the season is not high enough, and you may not get satisfactory enjoyment from them. If you sort of turned your back on the show, this isnt the season to check out. However, if you are a Simpsons devotee, then you want to pick it up. The Simpsons twenty-third season began airing on Fox on September 25,2011, and ended May 20,2012. The showrunner for the season was Al Jean, with three episodes ran with Matt Selman, one of those he wrote himself. The shows 500th episode, At Long Last Leave, aired February 19,2012, the season premiere episode The Falcon and the Dohman features a reference to the previous episode of the series, the twenty-second season finale The Ned-Liest Catch that aired May 22,2011. In that episode, the characters Ned Flanders and Edna Krabappel started dating, when asked why the writers thought Ned and Edna were the right characters for a cliffhanger like this, Jean said that In life, unusual things happen. People couple together in ways you would not expect, and hes single and we thought it would be funny, the fact that they both have these connections to the Simpsons but they never really met or if they have met it was minimal. The result of the poll were revealed in The Falcon and the Dohman, according to Jean, the poll was very strong in one direction. 20th Century Fox Television released a statement October 4,2011, saying that 23 seasons in, The Simpsons is as vibrant as ever. We believe this brilliant series can and should continue, but we cannot produce future seasons under its current financial model. We are hopeful that we can reach an agreement with the voice cast that allows The Simpsons to go on entertaining audiences with original episodes for many years to come, one of the problems was that The Simpsons was possibly worth more cancelled than on the air. A 17-year-old syndication deal with local TV stations prohibits Fox from selling the show to cable networks, as long as The Simpsons still produces new episodes, Fox cannot break this deal. In the meantime, cable networks have grown to become just as big a market as the local TV stations, another consideration was that Foxs parent company News Corporation was having meetings discussing the possibility of a cable channel that would only air The Simpsons episodes. Analysts consider a cancellation and subsequent second-run deal that includes cable networks to be worth $750 million. On this issue, Al Jean commented in an interview with TV Guide that Its a big company and those interests were superseded because were still valuable to the network in terms of our ratings. The actors were willing to take a pay cut, but wanted a percentage of the back-end payments instead, at one point, Harry Shearer even offered a 70% pay cut in exchange for back-end percentages, but the studio was unwilling to make any deal involving back-end percentages. In the end, the studio and the reached a deal, in which the actors would take a pay cut of 30%, down to just over $300,000 per episode. As well as the actors, everybody involved in the show took a pay cut. This included the animators, writers, post-production crew and even Jean himself, the further use of digital animation also saved money, as the animation of the show became more efficient. The season premiere episode The Falcon and the Dohman originally aired on the Fox network in the United States on September 25,2011 and it was watched by approximately 8.08 million people during this broadcast
