Sophia Lillis (born February 13, 2002[1][better source needed]) is an American actress. She is best known for her role as Beverly Marsh in the horror film It (2017), a feature film adaptation of Stephen King's 1986 novel of the same name, as well as her role as the young Camille Preaker in HBO's Sharp Objects.

Lillis was born in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, New York City. She is of Irish, Polish and Swiss-German descent.[1] She has a twin brother named Jake and a step-brother named Philip. Her parents divorced when she was a child, and she lives with her mother, Juliana, and stepfather, Christopher Mellevold, who sparked Sophia's interest in acting.[1] She started acting when she was seven years old, taking classes at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute.[1]

Lillis made her acting debut in 2014 with the film A Midsummer Night's Dream and later she starred in the film 37.[1] In 2017, she made a breakthrough when she costarred as one of the leads, Beverly Marsh, in the horror film It, an adaptation of Stephen King's novel, directed by Andy Muschietti, and also starring Jaeden Lieberher, Finn Wolfhard, Wyatt Oleff, Bill Skarsgård, Jack Dylan Grazer, Jeremy Ray Taylor and Chosen Jacobs.[2][3][4] Later that year, Lillis also played one of Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard's children in Sia's music video, "Santa's Coming for Us".[5]

Lillis was cast in the HBO's television series Sharp Objects, in which she portrayed the young version of Camille Preaker, played by Amy Adams as an adult.[6] Lillis is also set to star as famous literary sleuth Nancy Drew in the Warner Brothers Pictures film adaptation of Nancy Drew and The Hidden Staircase, with principal production to begin sometime soon as of April 2018.[7][8]
