Voyeurism

Voyeurism is the sexual interest in or practice of watching other people engaged in intimate behaviors, such as undressing, sexual activity, or other actions considered to be of a private nature. The term comes from the French voir which means "to see". A male voyeur is labelled as "Peeping Tom" or a "Jags", a term which originates from the Lady Godiva legend. However, that term is applied to a male who observes somebody secretly and not in a public space; the American Psychiatric Association has classified certain voyeuristic fantasies and behaviour patterns as a paraphilia in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual if the person has acted on these urges, or the sexual urges or fantasies cause marked distress or interpersonal difficulty. It is described as a disorder of sexual preference in the ICD-10; the DSM-IV defines voyeurism as the act of looking at "unsuspecting individuals strangers, who are naked, in the process of disrobing, or engaging in sexual activity". The diagnosis would not be given to people who experience typical sexual arousal by seeing nudity or sexual activity.

In order to be diagnosed with voyeuristic disorder the symptoms must persist for over six months and the person in question must be over the age of 18. There is little academic research regarding voyeurism; when a review was published in 1976 there were only 15 available resources. Voyeurs were well-paying hole-lookers in Parisian brothels, a commercial innovation described as far back as 1857 but not gaining much notoriety until the 1880s, not attracting formal medical-forensic recognition until the early 1890s. Society has accepted the use of the term voyeur as a description of anyone who views the intimate lives of others outside of a sexual context; this term is used regarding reality television and other media which allow people to view the personal lives of others. This is a reversal from the historical perspective, moving from a term which describes a specific population in detail, to one which describes the general population vaguely. One of the few historical theories on the causes of voyeurism comes from psychoanalytic theory.

Psychoanalytic theory proposes that voyeurism results from a failure to accept castration anxiety and as a result a failure to identify with the father. Voyeurism has high prevalence rates in most studied populations. Voyeurism was believed to only be present in a small portion of the population; this perception changed when Alfred Kinsey discovered that 30% of men prefer coitus with the lights on. This behaviour is not considered voyeurism by today's diagnostic standards, but there was little differentiation between normal and pathological behaviour at the time. Subsequent research showed that 65% of men had engaged in peeping, which suggests that this behaviour is spread throughout the population. Congruent with this, research found voyeurism to be the most common sexual law-breaking behaviour in both clinical and general populations. In the same study it was found that 42% of college males who had never been convicted of a crime had watched others in sexual situations. An earlier study indicates that 54% of men have voyeuristic fantasies, that 42% have tried voyeurism.

In a national study of Sweden it was found that 7.7% of the population had engaged in voyeurism at some point. It is believed that voyeurism occurs up to 150 times more than police reports indicate; this same study indicates that there are high levels of co-occurrence between voyeurism and exhibitionism, finding that 63% of voyeurs report exhibitionist behaviour. Due to the prevalence of voyeurism in society, the people who engage in voyeuristic behaviours are diverse. However, there are some trends regarding, to engage in voyeurism; these statistics apply only to those who qualify as voyeurs under the definition of the DSM, not the broader modern concept of voyeurism as discussed earlier in this article. Early research indicated. Compared to the other groups studied, it was found that voyeurs were unlikely to be alcoholics or drug users. More recent research shows that, compared to the general population, voyeurs were moderately more to have psychological problems, use alcohol and drugs, have higher sexual interest generally.

This study shows that voyeurs have a greater number of sexual partners per year, are more to have had a same-sex partner than general populations. Both older and newer research found that voyeurs have a age of first sexual intercourse. However, other research found no difference in sexual history between non-voyeurs. Voyeurs who are not exhibitionists tend to be from a higher socioeconomic status than those who do show exhibitionist behaviour. Research shows that, like all paraphilias, voyeurism is more common in men than in women. However, research has found that men and women both report the same likelihood that they would hypothetically engage in voyeurism. There appears to be a greater gender difference when presented with the opportunity to perform voyeurism. There is little research done on voyeurism in women, so little is known on the subject. One of the few studies deals with a case study of a woman who had schizophrenia; this limits the degree. Lovemap theory suggests that voyeurism exists because looking at naked others shifts from an ancillary sexual behaviour, to a primary sexual act.

This results in a displacement of sexual desire making the act of watching someone the primary means of sexual satisfaction. Voyeurism has been linked with obsessive–compulsive

2013 Bandung mayoral election

A mayoral election was held in Bandung on 23 June 2013, in order to elect the mayor of Bandung for a five-year term between 2013 and 2018. It was the second direct mayoral election in the city's history. Eight candidates vied for the mayoral seat. Incumbent mayor Dada Rosada did not participate; the election followed a first past the post system, in which the winner might have only a plurality of the votes. Architect Ridwan Kamil won the election with about 45 percent of the votes - over double the nearest competitor. Independent candidates were required to submit proof of popular support between 10 and 14 February 2013, with party-backed candidates being allocated a week between 11 and 17 March in order to register; the campaign period was set to be between 6 and 19 June, with the voting process taking place on 23 June. There were 4,119 ballot locations accommodating 1,658,808 eligible voters. According to Law No. 12 of 2008 on regional governance, a second-round election is required if the winning candidate earns less than 30 percent of the votes.

If, the case, the second round voting would be held on 24 August, with the final winner being made mayor on 16 September. Due to rapid urbanization, Bandung encountered problems such as economic and social inequality, traffic jams and environmental degradation; the candidates held a public debate in June, during which multiple incidents of provocative speech was done by supporters. Following the debates, an observer from Padjadjaran University remarked that "only two pairs are qualified to lead Bandung" and that the others were just "trying their luck", although he did not specify which. Early exit polls were with a turnout of about 57 percent. Chief of the local KPU noted the low turnout, stating that he was "disappointed". There were 43,494 votes which were invalidated due to the ballot paper not being used or used more than once. On 28 June, Ridwan Kamil-Oded M Danial were declared winners of the election, having won in all 30 subdistricts of the city. Following the announcement, six of the seven other candidate pairs objected to the result, citing irregularities in the election process.

The objections were raised to the Constitutional Court on 2 July, on 23 July the court upheld the election results. Ridwan was formally sworn in as mayor on 16 September, as scheduled. Observers noted the presence of Ridwan Kamil and his campaign team on social media Twitter, as a contributing factor to his victory. Other candidates were associated with corruption cases. Despite PKS being embroiled in a scandal during the election period, Ridwan's strong figure was postulated to have overshadowed this

1915 Auburn Tigers football team

The 1915 Auburn Tigers football team represented Auburn University in the 1915 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association football season. It was the Tigers' 24th season and they competed as a member of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association; the team was led by head coach Mike Donahue, in his 11th year, played their home games at Drake Field in Auburn, Alabama. They finished with a record of two losses. Baby Taylor was the only regular left at the start of the 1915 season. Source: 1915 Auburn football schedule The season starts with a big 78–0 victory over Marion Military Institute. Auburn defeated Florida 7–0. Florida played hard for three quarters; the starting lineup was Robinson, Taylor, Fricks, Bonner, Steed, Bidez. Clemson was defeated 14–0. Mississippi A&M lost 26–0; the Georgia Bulldogs fell to Auburn 12–0. Auburn beat Mercer 45 -- the season's sixth straight shutout. Vanderbilt coach Dan McGugin had been pointing to since before the season. Auburn had dominated Southern football for the past two seasons, without a single team crossing its line.

Vanderbilt jumped out to a 17–0 lead on a rain-soaked field. A Curry pass to captain Russell Cohen opened the scoring. Cody took over from that point. In one of the greatest exhibitions of punt covering Cody smothered the receiver every time, recovering two fumbles, one across the goal line for a touchdown. In the last ten seconds of play, Cody dropped kicked a three-pointer from the 33-yard line. Zerfoss and Friel punted splendidly. Curry's generalship was superb, late in the game the Vandy line rose as one to throw back three Auburn charges on the five-yard line; the starting lineup: Taylor, Ducote, Frickey, Bonner, Wren, Bidez. Georgia Tech closed what was the greatest season in its history with a 7–0 defeat of Auburn. To begin the second quarter, Everett Strupper had two key plays, the last of, the game-deciding touchdown. First he made 20 yards around with a pass from Morrison before being forced out of bounds. Next was the 19-yard touchdown. Strupper started around left end cut back into the center of the field, away from his blockers.

He juked and eluded "every man on the Auburn team." On the last move Strupper faked right and dove left underneath the outstretched arms of Baby Taylor into the endzone. The starting lineup against Auburn: Taylor, Campbell, Frickey, Bonner, Ducote, Steed. Guard Baby Taylor was a unanimous All-Southern selection, was selected third-team All-America by Walter Camp.
