William Feilding, 1st Earl of Denbigh
William Feilding, 1st Earl of Denbigh was an English courtier. As brother-in-law of the royal favourite, the Duke of Buckingham, he became involved in major political, military and diplomatic events during the latter part of the reign of James I and under Charles I.
In 1631 Feilding travelled with the East India Company to India. On his return, Van Dyck painted him in oriental dress
George Villiers, 1st Duke of Buckingham
George Villiers, 1st Duke of Buckingham, KG, was an English courtier, statesman, and patron of the arts. He was a favourite and self-described "lover" of King James VI and I. Buckingham remained at the height of royal favour for the first three years of the reign of James's son, King Charles I, until he was assassinated.
