1958 Nobel Prize in Literature
The 1958 Nobel Prize in Literature was awarded the Russian author Boris Pasternak (1890–1960) "for his important achievement both in contemporary lyrical poetry and in the field of the great Russian epic tradition." He is the second Russian-language writer to be awarded with such honor.

1961 Nobel Prize in Literature
The 1961 Nobel Prize in Literature was awarded to the Yugoslav/Serbian writer Ivo Andrić (1892–1975) "for the epic force with which he has traced themes and depicted human destinies drawn from the history of his country." He is the first and only Serbian-speaking recipient of the literature prize.
