1987 Formula One World Championship
The 1987 FIA Formula One World Championship was the 41st season of FIA Formula One motor racing. It featured the 1987 Formula One World Championship for Drivers and the 1987 Formula One World Championship for Constructors, which were contested concurrently over a sixteen-race series that commenced on 12 April and ended on 15 November.
Nelson Piquet (pictured in 1983) won his third and final Drivers' Championship, driving for Williams.
Piquet's teammate Nigel Mansell finished runner-up, despite having more victories he was unable to be as consistent as Piquet.
Ayrton Senna, driving for Lotus, finished third.
1982 World Champion Keke Rosberg retired before this season.
Nelson Piquet Souto Maior is a Brazilian retired racing driver and businessman who won the World Drivers' Championship three times in the years 1981, 1983 and 1987.
