2016 6 Hours of Silverstone
The 2016 6 Hours of Silverstone was a six hour endurance sports car racing event held for Le Mans Prototype and Le Mans Grand Touring Endurance cars at the Silverstone Circuit in Northamptonshire, England on 15–17 April 2016. Silverstone served as the opening round of the 2016 FIA World Endurance Championship, and was the fifth running of the event as part of the championship. A total of 52,000 people attended the race weekend.
Nelson Piquet Jr. (pictured in 2015) replaced Mathias Beche for the season's first three rounds.
Romain Dumas (pictured in 2014) beached his car in the turn seven gravel trap in the second practice session.
André Lotterer (pictured in 2012) helped secure Audi's first World Endurance Championship pole position since 2013.
Brendon Hartley (pictured in 2014) held the No. 1 Porsche's lead until he retired because of heavy contact with Michael Wainwright.
Marcel Fässler (racing driver)
Marcel Fässler is a Swiss former racing driver. From 2010 to 2016 he competed in the FIA World Endurance Championship as part of Audi Sport Team Joest with co-drivers André Lotterer and Benoît Tréluyer, winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans three times and capturing the World Endurance Drivers' Championship in 2012.
