The AFL National Championships is an annual Australian national underage representative Australian rules football tournament. Since taking over as national governing body in 1995, the AFL has gradually restructured the competition into a primary junior pathway for its fully professional national club competition.
The Greater Western Sydney Giants are a professional Australian rules football team based in Sydney Olympic Park which represents the Greater Western Sydney region of New South Wales and Canberra in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT).
Israel Folau, a high-profile recruit by the club. The former professional rugby league and rugby union footballer was from the Brisbane Broncos. Folau has been credited with helping to establish the Giants in Western Sydney.
