Ardfinnan Castle, is the sister castle of Lismore Castle and was built circa 1185 to guard the river crossing at Ardfinnan in County Tipperary, Ireland. It is situated on the River Suir, seven miles west of Clonmel. The castle is currently privately owned and is not open for public viewing.

Lismore Castle is a castle located in the town of Lismore, County Waterford in the Republic of Ireland. It belonged to the Earls of Desmond, and subsequently to the Cavendish family from 1753. It is currently the Irish home of the Duke of Devonshire. It was largely re-built in the Gothic style during the mid-nineteenth century for the 6th Duke of Devonshire.

King Edward VII visiting the 8th Duke of Devonshire in May 1904. The 8th Duke had been a very prominent politician, especially when he was styled as Marquess of Hartington. As Lord Hartington, the 8th Duke had been bitterly opposed to Home Rule for Ireland in the 1880s.
