The Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) is a Chinese state-owned aerospace and defense conglomerate headquartered in Beijing. AVIC is overseen by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council. It is ranked 140th in the Fortune Global 500 list as of 2021, and has over 100 subsidiaries, 27 listed companies and 500,000 employees across the globe. AVIC is also the sixth largest defense contractor globally as of 2022 and second largest Chinese defense contractor with total revenue of $79 billion

The Cirrus Design Corporation, doing business as Cirrus Aircraft, is an aircraft manufacturer that was founded in 1984 by Alan and Dale Klapmeier to produce the VK-30 kit aircraft, and is headquartered in Duluth, Minnesota, United States. The company is owned by a subsidiary of the Chinese government-owned Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC), with operational locations in seven states across the US including Minnesota, North Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Arizona, Florida and Michigan, as well as additional sales locations in France and the Netherlands.
Current headquarters and main manufacturing facilities in Duluth, Minnesota since 1994. The company now has several facilities in six other states across the US, including its main customer center in Knoxville, Tennessee since 2017.
Cirrus founders the Klapmeier brothers (Dale pictured left, Alan right) both led the company from its 1984 inception until 2009; Dale then led it for the following decade while Alan pursued other ventures. Together they were inducted into the National Aviation Hall of Fame in 2014.
