Batman Forever is a 1995 American superhero film directed by Joel Schumacher and produced by Tim Burton, based on the DC Comics character Batman. A sequel to the 1992 film Batman Returns and the third installment of Warner Bros.'s initial Batman film series, it stars Val Kilmer replacing Michael Keaton as Bruce Wayne and Batman, alongside Tommy Lee Jones, Jim Carrey, Nicole Kidman, Chris O'Donnell, Michael Gough, Pat Hingle. The plot focuses on Batman trying to stop Two-Face and the Riddler in their villainous scheme to extract confidential information from all the minds in Gotham City and use it to learn Batman's identity and bring the city under their control. In the process, he gains allegiance from a young, orphaned circus acrobat named Dick Grayson, who becomes his sidekick Robin, meets and develops feelings for psychiatrist Dr. Chase Meridian, which brings him to the point to decide if he will lead a normal life or if he is destined to fight crime as Batman forever. Batman Forever's tone is different from the previous installments, becoming more family-friendly since Warner Bros. believed that Batman Returns failed to outgross its predecessor due to parent complaints about the film's violence and dark overtones.
Schumacher eschewed the dark, dystopian atmosphere of Burton's films by drawing inspiration from the Batman comic books of the Dick Sprang era, as well as the 1960s television series. After Keaton chose not to reprise his role, William Baldwin and Ethan Hawke were considered as a replacement before Val Kilmer joined the cast; the film was released on June 16, 1995, receiving mixed reviews, but was a financial success. Batman Forever grossed over $336 million worldwide and became the sixth-highest-grossing film worldwide of 1995; the film was followed by Batman & Robin in 1997, with Schumacher returning as the director, Chris O'Donnell returning as Robin, George Clooney replacing Kilmer as Batman. In Gotham City, the crime fighter Batman defuses a hostage situation caused by a criminal known as Two-Face, the alter ego of the former district attorney Harvey Dent, hideously scarred when crime boss Sal Maroni threw acid on his face during Maroni's conviction which Batman failed to prevent, but Two-Face remains at large.
Edward Nygma, a researcher at Wayne Enterprises who idolizes Bruce Wayne, has developed a device that can beam television into a person's brain. Bruce offers to let Nygma come up with schematics for the device and set up a meeting with his assistant. However, after Nygma demands an answer from him Bruce rejects the invention, believing it to be too close to mind manipulation. After killing his supervisor and staging it as a suicide, Nygma resigns and begins sending Bruce riddles, seeking retaliation against him. Bruce meets Chase Meridian, a psychiatrist, obsessed with Batman, invites her to come with him to a circus event. After a performance from the circus performers, The Flying Graysons, Two-Face arrives and threatens to blow up the circus unless Batman comes forward and surrenders his life to him; the Flying Graysons attempt to stop Two-Face. Only Dick Grayson, the youngest member, survives as he climbs to the roof and throws Two-Face's bomb into a river. Bruce invites the orphaned Dick to stay at Wayne Manor.
Dick, still troubled by the murder of his family, intends to avenge his family. When he discovers that Bruce is Batman, he demands that Bruce help him find Two-Face so that he can kill him, but Bruce refuses. Meanwhile, Nygma and delighted by watching Two-Face's raid at the circus, turns himself into a criminal called the Riddler and forms an alliance with Two-Face; the two steal capital in order to mass-produce Nygma's brainwave device so that Riddler can use it to steal all of Gotham's confidential information, promising Two-Face Batman's secret identity in return. Nygma founds his own company, but the process of transferring the information into Nygma's mind begins to drive him insane. At Nygma's business party, Nygma discovers Bruce's alter ego using the brainwave device. Two-Face crashes the party, he nearly kills Batman. Meanwhile, Chase has fallen in love with Bruce. Bruce decides to stop being Batman in order to have a normal life with Chase, to prevent Dick from murdering Two-Face. Dick runs away while Bruce and Chase have dinner together in the manor, where Bruce reveals his secret identity to her.
The Riddler and Two-Face attack Wayne Manor. The criminals kidnap Chase after Two-Face shoots Bruce, the Riddler leaves him another riddle. Using the riddles and his butler, deduce the Riddler's secret identity. Chase is imprisoned by the Two-Face in their hideout. Bruce puts on a new Batman costume. Dick becomes Batman's sidekick, Robin. Batman and Robin head to Claw Island, where they are separated. Robin nearly kills him, but chooses to spare his life and is captured; the Riddler, revealing Chase and Robin bound and gagged with duct tape in containment tubes, gives Batman a chance to save only one hostage, but Batman destroys the Riddler's brainwave collecting device with a Batarang, causing the Riddler to suffer a mental breakdown and allowing Batman to rescue Robin and Chase. Two-Face corners the trio and determines their fate with the flip of a coin, but Batman throws a handful of identical coins in the air, causing Two-Face to stumble and fall to his death, as Robin watches; the Riddler is taken to Arkham Asylum and imprisoned.
Chase is asked to consult on the case, but Nygma says that he himself is Batman, d
Mojang AB is a Swedish video game developer and a studio of Xbox Game Studios based in Stockholm. The studio was founded by Markus Persson in 2009 as Mojang Specifications, inheriting the name from a venture of the same name he left two years prior. Mojang began development on the sandbox video game Minecraft in 2009, which would become the best-selling video game of all time and establish a successful multimedia franchise. Mojang Specifications became Mojang in 2010. With a desire to move on from Minecraft, Persson sold Mojang to Xbox Game Studios in 2014, after which the studio developed the spin-offs Minecraft Earth and Minecraft Dungeons. In addition to the Minecraft franchise, Mojang developed the 2014 digital card game Caller's Bane and the 2016 turn-based strategy game Crown and Council, along with various games in Humble Bundle game jams; as of 2016, Mojang employs 70 people in its Stockholm offices, including the leadership team composed of Jonas Mårtensson, Vu Bui, Karin Severinson, Rikard Herlitz.
Swedish video game designer Markus Persson began working on a clone of Infiniminer in 2009, a game developed by Zachtronics and released earlier that year. Persson used assets and parts of the engine code he had created for an earlier project, RubyDung, presented first prototypes of the game through videos uploaded to YouTube, starting in May that year; the first alpha version of the game, now titled Minecraft, was released on 17 May 2009, followed by pre-orders for the full release being accepted from 13 June 2009, with Persson using the name "Mojang Specifications" for the game's release. All sales ran directly through Minecraft's website, wherefore Persson did not have to split income with third parties. In less than a month, Minecraft had generated enough revenue for Persson to take time off his day job to dedicate more of his schedule to developing Minecraft, by May 2010, he was able to quit his day job entirely. In September 2010, Persson travelled to Bellevue, Washington, to the offices of video game company Valve, for "a cup of coffee".
At the offices, Persson took part in a programming exercise and met with Gabe Newell, before being offered a job at the company. He turned down the offer, instead calling Jakob "JahKob" Porsér, whom Persson had known for five years, via Skype to ask whether he wanted to help him establish a business out of Mojang Specifications, to which Porsér replied that he would quit his job the following day. Subsequently and Porsér incorporated Mojang Specifications as Mojang AB; as both wished to focus on game development rather than business, Mojang hired Carl Manneh, the manager of jAlbum, Persson's previous employer, as chief executive officer. Other significant hires included Daniel "Kappische" Kaplan as business developer, Markus "Junkboy" Toivonen as art director and Jens "Jeb" Bergensten as lead programmer. On 12 January 2011, Minecraft reached one million registered accounts, a number which rose to ten million within the next six months; the continued success led Mojang to start development of a new version of Minecraft for mobile devices.
Due to the incompatibility with Minecraft's Java framework on mobile devices, the new version was programmed in C++ instead. Another version developed for Xbox 360, was outsourced to Scotland-based developer 4J Studios and created using C++. In March 2011, Mojang announced a digital collectible card game. Mojang's attempt to trademark the game's name resulted in a lawsuit with ZeniMax Media, who owned the trademark for The Elder Scrolls series, over the two titles' similarity. In August, Mojang hired artist Henrik Pettersson. Minecraft was released out of beta in November 2011, with the announcement taking place on-stage at MineCon, the game's dedicated convention event. In August 2011, Mojang announced plans to publish its first third-party game: Cobalt from Oxeye Game Studios. An early version of the game was available on 16 December 2011, while the full game was released on 2 February 2016, for Xbox 360, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows. A multiplayer-focused spin-off of Cobalt, titled Cobalt WASD and developed by Oxeye Game Studios, was released for Microsoft Windows by Mojang on 30 November 2017, following a phase in early access.
In 2011, Sean Parker, the co-founder of Napster and former president of Facebook, offered to invest in Mojang, but was turned down. Mojang ruled out being sold or becoming a public company to maintain the independence, said to have contributed to Minecraft's success. By March 2012, Minecraft had sold five million copies. In November, the company had 25 employees. In total, Mojang earned $237.7 million in revenue in 2012. In 2013, Mojang released an education-focused version of Minecraft for Raspberry Pi devices, after the exclusivity clause penned with Microsoft over the availability of the game's console edition on Microsoft's platforms expired, announced editions of the game for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita. In October 2013, Manneh's twin brother, Jonas Mårtensson of gambling game company Betsson, was hired as Mojang's vice-president. For the year 2013, Mojang recorded a total revenue of $330 million, including $129 million profit. By 2014, Persson wished to no longer have to bear the pressure of being the owner of Minecraft.
ConSequences is an album by American jazz trumpeter Raphe Malik, recorded live at the 2nd Fire in the Valley Festival in 1997 and released on the Eremite label. He leads a quartet with tenor saxophonist Sabir Mateen, bassist William Parker and drummer Denis Charles in one of his last recorded performances. In his review for AllMusic, Thom Jurek states "Malik is an improviser concerned with the outer limits, but not at the expense of what has evolved into Western musical architecture, he picked the right band because the versatility of each man in this ensemble is well-documented."The Penguin Guide to Jazz notes "although this is a chance to hear Denis Charles in one of his final recordings, Malik and Mateen play some vociferous solos, a strong live performance transfers rather uneasily to CD."The All About Jazz review by John Sharpe says "The individual components are marvellous but it is the group interplay which elevates this music into the top drawer. Malik is a powerful trumpeter full of heraldic fanfares, excoriating runs and broad smears, in addition to his artful composition."In his review for JazzTimes Peter Margasak states "Recorded with a group of veterans who understand that raw emotionalism means little without structure or context, the album seethes with white-hot expressionism, but in most cases such displays are outgrowths of the leader's memorable lyrical themes."

Casablancas' dog, Balki, is pictured on the album sleeve; the album was previewed in its entirety on August 31, 2009 at the Duo Music Exchange in Tokyo, Japan. "Left & Right in the Dark", "Out of the Blue", "Ludlow St" and "11th Dimension" are featured in the Gossip Girl episode "The Lady Vanished". While critical reception was positive, Casablancas has since expressed regret over the direction of the project, stating, "I had all these different ideas, I thought'if I go too weird, people won’t take it seriously,' so I did the safest ideas And then… maybe it became this'oh, this is what he does when he’s on his own' vs; the Strokes, and, annoying, frustrating.” A deluxe box set including B-sides and home recordings was made available after the album's release. It is housed within an antique style box; the album debuted at # 35 on # 19 on the UK Albums Chart. All tracks are written by Julian Casablancas, except where noted
