General Sir Arthur Brodie Haig, was a senior officer in the British Indian Army. A pre-war regular officer, he served in India prior to the outbreak of the First World War when he was posted to the Middle East. He was wounded at the Battle of Shaiba, twice mentioned in despatches and awarded the Military Cross (MC), before he was taken prisoner by the Ottoman Empire at the Siege of Kut. Escaping captivity in August 1918, he received a Bar to his MC.

Pakistan Command and Staff College
The Command and Staff College is the Pakistan Army's staff college for mid-career army officers. As the Army Staff College it was initially established in 1905 at Deolali and later shifted to Quetta in 1907, Baluchistan, British India, now in Pakistan. It has been the alma mater of many renowned soldiers.
After the partition of India, those staff not staying in Pakistan moved to Wellington Cantonment and formed the Defence Services Staff College.
