Burbank, California

Burbank is a city in Los Angeles County in Southern California, United States,12 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles. The population at the 2010 census was 103,340, Entertainment, Nickelodeon Animation Studios, NBC, Cartoon Network Studios with the West Coast branch of Cartoon Network, and Insomniac Games. The city is home to Bob Hope Airport. Burbank consists of two areas, a downtown/foothill section, in the foothills of the Verdugo Mountains. Burbank is the easternmost city in the San Fernando Valley, Burbanks neighbor, Glendale, is the westernmost city in the San Gabriel Valley. The city was referred to as Beautiful Downtown Burbank on Laugh-In, the city was named after David Burbank, a New Hampshire-born dentist and entrepreneur who established a sheep ranch there in 1867. Historically, this area was the scene of a skirmish which resulted in the unseating of the Spanish Governor of California. Remnants of the battle reportedly were found many years later in the vicinity of Warner Bros. Studio when residents dug up cannonballs, by 1876, the San Fernando Valley became the largest wheat-raising area in Los Angeles County. But the droughts of the 1860s and 1870s underlined the need for water supplies. A professionally trained dentist, Dr. Burbank began his career in Waterville and he joined the great migration westward in the early 1850s and, by 1853 was living in San Francisco. At the time the American Civil War broke out he was well established in his profession as a dentist in Pueblo de Los Angeles. In 1867, he purchased Rancho La Providencia from David W. Alexander and Francis Mellus, Dr. Burbanks property reached nearly 9,200 acres at a cost of $9,000. Dr. Burbank wouldnt acquire full titles to both properties until after a decision known as the Great Partition was made in 1871 dissolving the Rancho San Rafael. Dr. Burbank also later owned the Burbank Theatre, which opened on November 27,1893, though the theater was intended to be an opera house, instead it staged plays and became known nationally. The theatre featured famous actors of the time including Fay Bainter and Marjorie Rambeau, when the area that became Burbank was settled in the 1870s and 1880s, the streets were aligned along what is now Olive Avenue, the road to the Cahuenga Pass and downtown Los Angeles. These were largely the roads the Indians traveled and the settlers took their produce down to Los Angeles to sell. At the time, the primary long-distance transportation methods available to San Fernando Valley residents were stagecoach, stagecoaching between Los Angeles and San Francisco through the Valley began in 1858

An actor is a person who portrays a character in a performance. Simplistically speaking, the person denominated actor or actress is someone beautiful who plays important characters, the actor performs in the flesh in the traditional medium of the theatre, or in modern mediums such as film, radio, and television. The analogous Greek term is ὑποκριτής, literally one who answers, the actors interpretation of their role pertains to the role played, whether based on a real person or fictional character. Interpretation occurs even when the actor is playing themselves, as in forms of experimental performance art, or, more commonly, to act, is to create. Formerly, in societies, only men could become actors. When used for the stage, women played the roles of prepubescent boys. The etymology is a derivation from actor with ess added. However, when referring to more than one performer, of both sexes, actor is preferred as a term for male performers. Actor is also used before the name of a performer as a gender-specific term. Within the profession, the re-adoption of the term dates to the 1950–1960s. As Whoopi Goldberg put it in an interview with the paper, Im an actor – I can play anything. The U. An author is narrowly defined as the originator of any written work and can thus also be described as a writer. More broadly defined, an author is the person who originated or gave existence to anything, in the copyright laws of various jurisdictions, there is a necessity for little flexibility regarding what constitutes authorship. The United States Copyright Office, for example, defines copyright as a form of protection provided by the laws of the United States to authors of works of authorship. After a fixed amount of time, the copyright expires on intellectual work and it enters the public domain, however, copyright is merely the legal reassurance that one owns his/her work. Technically, someone owns their work from the time its created, an interesting aspect of authorship emerges with copyright in that, in many jurisdictions, it can be passed down to another upon ones death. The person who inherits the copyright is not the author, questions arise as to the application of copyright law. How does it, for example, apply to the issue of fan fiction. If the media responsible for the authorized production allows material from fans, what is the limit before legal constraints from actors, music. Additionally, how does copyright apply to fan-generated stories for books, what powers do the original authors, as well as the publishers, have in regulating or even stopping the fan fiction. In literary theory, critics find complications in the term author beyond what constitutes authorship in a legal setting, in the wake of postmodern literature, critics such as Roland Barthes and Michel Foucault have examined the role and relevance of authorship to the meaning or interpretation of a text. Barthes challenges the idea that a text can be attributed to any single author and he writes, in his essay Death of the Author, that it is language which speaks, not the author. The words and language of a text itself determine and expose meaning for Barthes, with this, the perspective of the author is removed from the text, and the limits formerly imposed by the idea of one authorial voice, one ultimate and universal meaning, are destroyed. The psyche, culture, fanaticism of an author can be disregarded when interpreting a text, because the words are rich enough themselves with all of the traditions of language. To expose meanings in a work without appealing to the celebrity of an author, their tastes, passions, vices, is, to Barthes, to allow language to speak. Michel Foucault argues in his essay What is an author and that all authors are writers, but not all writers are authors. He states that a letter may have a signatory—it does not have an author. For a reader to assign the title of author upon any written work is to certain standards upon the text which. Singer-songwriters are musicians who write, compose, and perform their own musical material, including lyrics and melodies. The genre began with the folk-acoustic tradition, singer-songwriters often provide the sole accompaniment to an entire composition or song, typically using a guitar or piano. Singer-songwriter is used to define popular music artists who write and perform their own material, such an artist performs the roles of composer, lyricist, vocalist, instrumentalist, and often self-manager. Most records by artists have a similarly straightforward and spare sound that placed emphasis on the song itself. The term has also used to describe songwriters in the rock, folk, and pop music genres including Henry Russell, Aristide Bruant, Hank Williams. Song topics include political protest, as in the case of the Almanac Singers, Pete Seeger, the concept of a singer-songwriter can be traced to ancient bardic oral tradition, which has existed in various forms throughout the world. Poems would be performed as chant or song, sometimes accompanied by a harp or other similar instrument, after the invention of printing, songs would be written and performed by ballad sellers. Usually these would be versions of existing tunes and lyrics, which were constantly evolving and this developed into the singer-songwriting traditions of folk culture. The term singer-songwriter in North America can be traced back to singers who developed works in the blues and folk music style. Early to mid-20th century American singer-songwriters include Lead Belly, Jimmie Rodgers, Blind Lemon Jefferson, T-Bone Walker, Blind Willie McTell, Lightnin Hopkins, Son House, the tradition of writing topical songs was established by this group of musicians. This focus on social issues has greatly influenced the singer-songwriter genre, artists who had been primarily songwriters, notably Carole King, Townes Van Zandt, and Neil Diamond, also began releasing work as performers. In contrast to the approach of most prior country and folk music. The adjectives confessional and sensitive were often used singer-songwriter style, in the rock band era, members were not technically singer-songwriters as solo acts. However, many were singer-songwriters who created songs with band members. Many others like Eric Clapton found success as singer-songwriters in their later careers, there were hints of cross-pollination, but rock and folk music had remained largely separate genres, often with different audiences. Despite these changes, one storyline that has endured through almost the entire run is the feud between Jill Abbott and Katherine Chancellor, the longest rivalry on any American soap opera. Since its debut, The Young and the Restless has won nine Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Drama Series and it is also currently the highest-rated daytime drama on American television. As of 2008, it had appeared at the top of the weekly Nielsen ratings in that category for more than 1,000 weeks since 1988. As of December 12,2013, according to Nielsen ratings, The Young, on January 15,2014, the series was in the middle of its final year of its 2010 contract, and was renewed by CBS through 2017. Y&R is also a show to the Bells other soap opera The Bold. To compete with the youthful ABC soap operas, All My Children, One Life to Live, William J. Bell and Lee Phillip Bell created The Young and the Restless in 1972 for the network under the working title, The Innocent Years. We were confronted with the very disturbing reality that young America had lost much of its innocence, innocence as we had known and lived it all our lives had, in so many respects, ceased to exist. In 2014, following her booking a pilot on MTV, the role was immediately recast with Daytime Emmy Award winner Cady McClain, on May 29,2015, McClain made her final appearance as Kelly. Ben Stitch Rayburn, later revealed to be her brother, in September 2013, Entertainment Weekly broke news that former Guiding Light and Lost actress Cynthia Watros had joined the cast of The Young and the Restless in the recurring role of Kelly. Watros arrival was said to have influence on several of the characters connected to the canvas. Soap Opera Digest confirmed Watros debut for sometime in November 2013 and they further confirmed her first airdate as November 15,2013. Watros attributed her casting in the role to executive producer Jill Farren Phelps and she complimented, She’s a perfect combination of someone who knows what she’s doing, and she’s a strong woman. Upon accepting the role, Watros knew there was a potential for her to vacate, in January 2014, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that Watros pilot Finding Carter had been ordered into a full series by MTV. In February 2014, it was confirmed that Watros would depart the series in order to pursue the pilot full-time, in her place, CBS hired former All My Children and As the World Turns actress Cady McClain into the role of Kelly. TV Guide further confirmed that the recasting of the role would likely be due to the potential. TV Guide further reported that Watros will last tape on March 14, McClain began shooting on March 26, and made her on-screen debut on April 24,2014. In an interview with On Air, On Soaps with Michael Fairman, luckily, Jon Lindstrom had just helped me make a beautiful reel of some of my soap and film work. We sent that over, and then it was quiet for awhile, I know they were looking at a lot of actresses, who of course, wanted to be on Y&R, but I stayed in the running. Then, I sent in another reel of my work from All My Children last year, and I was still in the running, and then I got the call and an offer. During her first day of work, McClain worked alongside Bergman, David Tom, McClain further clarified her first airdate to be April 16,2014, six days earlier than originally reported. In an interview with Michael Logan of TV Guide magazine, McClain spoke on the pressures of replacing Watros, stating, usually when this happens on a soap theres a break of a few months or at least weeks. And Cynthia was mind-bogglingly good and really made her mark with some award-worthy work, but Im bringing my A game and hoping the fans will accept me. Following continued speculation, McClain confirmed her exit in the June 15,2015 issue of Soap Opera Digest and she made her final appearance on May 29,2015

Created by Agnes Nixon, All My Children is set in Pine Valley, Pennsylvania, a fictional suburb of Philadelphia, which is modeled on the actual Philadelphia suburb of Rosemont. The original series featured Susan Lucci as Erica Kane, one of daytimes most popular characters, the title of the series refers to the bonds of humanity. All My Children was the first new network daytime drama to debut in the 1970s, originally owned by Creative Horizons, Inc. the company created by Nixon and her husband, Bob, the show was sold to ABC in January 1975. The series started at a half-hour in per-installment length, then was expanded to an hour on April 25,1977. Earlier, the show had experimented with the format for one week starting on June 30,1975. From 1970 to 1990, All My Children was recorded at ABCs TV18 at 101 West 67th St, from March 1990 to December 2009, it was taped at ABCs Studio TV23 at 320 West 66th Street in Manhattan, New York City, New York. In December 2009, the locale for taping the series moved from Manhattan to less costly Los Angeles, California. The show was produced in Stages 1 and 2 at the Andrita Studios in Los Angeles, California from 2010 to 2011. All My Children started taping in high definition on January 4,2010, All My Children became the third soap opera to be produced and broadcast in high definition. At one point, the programs popularity positioned it as the most widely recorded television show in the United States, also, in a departure from societal norms at the time, All My Children, in the mid-1970s, had an audience that was estimated to be 30% male. The show ranked No.1 in the daytime Nielsen ratings in the 1978–79 season, throughout most of the 1980s and into the early 1990s, All My Children was the No.2 daytime soap opera on the air. The show taped its final scenes for ABC on August 30,2011, on September 26,2011, the following Monday, ABC replaced All My Children with a newly debuted talk show The Chew. Dixie Cooney is a fictional character from the American daytime drama, All My Children. Initially portrayed by actress Kari Gibson from July to October 1988, the decision to kill the character in 2007 attracted much criticism and controversy, with TV Guide being dismayed by the choice and calling her the heart and soul of the show. McClain returned to the series May 2,2008, playing the character as a ghost, the return lasted through June 12,2008. McClain again returned briefly to All My Children from March 4,2010 through April 20,2010, on April 25,2011, it was announced that McClain would reprise her role of Dixie full-time on a contract basis as a series regular beginning in the spring of 2011. Her first airdate was May 17,2011 and she played the role until the final televised episode on September 23,2011. On February 7,2013, McClain announced on her website that she would be reprising her role as Dixie on Prospect Parks online continuation of the show and they were unaware that this man was Palmer Cortlandt, one of the Valley’s richest men. Dixie and Will found work at Cortlandt manor as a maid and they did not realize the identity of their new employer until both saw a face they had not seen in years, their sister, Della Cooney. Palmer welcomed them all into this house, Dixie was the niece of industrialist Palmer Cortlandt. Dixie then married Tad Martin in December 1989, but after repeated misunderstandings brought on by Palmer, as well as Tads biological mother Opal Gardner, Tad and Dixie separated. At first they realized their break up was a mistake, but Tad had a stand with Brooke English. But even the divorce did not keep them apart, and they reconciled, Tad proposed again and they planned to remarry. On the day of the wedding, Tad was lured into the woods by Billy Clyde Tuggle, and Tuggle tried to kill him, both were presumed dead, although Tuggle was the only body to be pulled from the river. Soon after, Brooke learned as a result of her liaison with Tad, early in 1991, she gave birth to her son, Jamie Martin. Dixie remarried in 1991 to Craig Lawson, a Pine Valley businessman, by the spring of 1992, they had divorced. Later in 1992, Dixie married the much younger Brian Bodine, later that same year, Brian was arrested for murdering Dixies brother, Will, and this led to the couples divorce in 1993. Dixie got the shock of her life when she learned Tad was still alive and had living in California as Ted Orsini. Tad regained his memory, but as usual he and Dixie crossed wires and he soon married Brooke English, his former lover and mother of his son Jamie. But they were not a couple and soon separated

As the World Turns is an American television soap opera that aired on CBS for 54 years from April 2,1956, to September 17,2010. Irna Phillips created As the World Turns as a show to her other soap opera Guiding Light. Running for 54 years, As the World Turns holds the second-longest continuous run of any daytime soap opera on American television. As the World Turns was produced for the first 43 years in Manhattan, set in the fictional town of Oakdale, Illinois, the show debuted on April 2,1956, at 1,30 pm EST. Prior to that date, all serials had been 15 minutes in length, as the World Turns and The Edge of Night, which premiered on the same day at 4,30 pm EST, were the first two to be 30 minutes in length from their premiere. At first, viewers did not respond to the new half-hour serial, in 1959, the show started a streak of weekly ratings wins that was not interrupted for over 12 years. The show switched to color on August 21,1967, and expanded from a half-hour in length to one starting on December 1,1975. In the year-to-date ratings, As the World Turns was the daytime drama from 1958 until 1978. At its height, core actors such as Helen Wagner, Don MacLaughlin, Don Hastings, three of these actors – Wagner, Hastings, and Fulton – are also the three longest serving actors in the history of American soap operas. The show passed its 10, 000th episode on May 12,1995, on September 18,2009, As the World Turns became the last remaining Procter and Gamble-produced soap opera for CBS after Guiding Light aired its final episode on the network. On December 8,2009, CBS announced that it cancelled As the World Turns after almost 54 years due to low ratings. The show taped its final Procter and Gamble scenes for CBS on June 23,2010, on October 18,2010, CBS replaced As the World Turns with a newly debuted talk show The Talk. As the World Turns was the creation of Irna Phillips, who beginning in the 1930s, had one of the foremost creators and writers of radio soap operas. Phillips wrote, As the world turns, we know the bleakness of winter, the promise of spring, the fullness of summer, and so it was with As the World Turns, with its slow-moving psychological character studies of families headed by legal and medical professionals. The personal and professional lives of doctors and lawyers remained central to As the World Turns throughout its run, Phillips style favored gradual evolution over radical change. Slow, conversational, and emotionally intense, the show moved at the pace of life itself –, each new addition to the cast was done in a gradual manner, and was usually a key contact to one of the members of the Hughes family. As such, the show earned a reputation as being quite conservative, during the shows early decades, the content-related policies of its sponsor Procter & Gamble Productions may have contributed to the perception of conservatism. McClain continued to portray the role, earning two nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress during the 2003 and 2004 Daytime Emmys, winning for the role in 2004, in 2004, it was heavily rumored McClain had been let go from the series, due to budget cuts. However, executive producer quickly debunked such rumors, staying, As far as the show is concerned, Cady McClain is, Cady has brought her incredible talent to her portrayal of Rosanna, as witnessed by last years Emmy nomination. Cady and her character are part of future story plans. In early 2005, McClain announced her decision to depart the series, McClain returned to the role of Dixie following her World Turns exit. McClains last airdate as Rosanna aired on July 29,2005, McClains return to the ABC soap was confirmed in December 2005. Following McClains departure, rumors began to fuel a possible recast of the character, however, such rumors were put to rest. As a drummer, Lindstrom recorded the album Feel Free to Do So with the band The High Lonesome for the Spark Records label, the record garnered much industry praise and most-added status for two singles on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2014, his feature film How We Got Away With It. Lindstrom developed a love for acting and music at an early age and he took that passion to the University of Oregon theatre and music schools. Upon graduation, he moved to Los Angeles, where he studied some of the most prominent acting teachers of the day, including Lee Strasberg, Stella Adler, Jeff Corey. Lindstrom, award-winning actor, director and screenwriter, has worked successfully on both sides of the camera for over 20 years, other credits of note include NCIS, Drop Dead Diva, Blue Bloods, CSI, Crime Scene Investigation and Everwood. Recent award winning films as an actor include What Happens Next, Lindstrom was creator, co-screenwriter and co-executive producer on the 2007 HBO/Time Warner release, The Hard Easy, and was featured in Must Love Dogs. St. Elsewhere is an American medical drama black comedy television series that originally ran on NBC from October 26,1982, to May 25,1988. St. Known for its combination of gritty, realistic drama and moments of black comedy, the series also earned critical acclaim during its run, earning 13 Emmy Awards for its writing, acting, and directing. St. Elsewhere was ranked No.20 on TV Guides 2002 list of The 50 Greatest TV Shows of All Time, in 2013, TV Guide ranked the series #51 on its list of the 60 Best Series of All Time. St. Elsewhere was set at fictional St. Eligius, a decaying urban teaching hospital in Bostons South End neighborhood, just as in Hill Street Blues, St. The staffs problems, and those of their patients, were often contemporary in nature, with storylines involving breast cancer, AIDS, the producers for the series were Bruce Paltrow, Mark Tinker, John Masius, Tom Fontana, John Falsey and Abby Singer. Tinker, Masius, Fontana, and Paltrow wrote a number of episodes as well, other writers included John Tinker, John Ford Noonan, Charles H. Eglee, Eric Overmyer, Channing Gibson, and Aram Saroyan. The shows main and end title theme was composed by famed jazz musician, noted film and TV composer J. A. C. St. Elsewhere was noteworthy for featuring episodes with unusual aspects or significant changes to the status quo. Cheers is an American sitcom that ran on NBC from September 30,1982 to May 20,1993, with a total of 270 half-hour episodes spanning over eleven seasons. The show was produced by Charles/Burrows/Charles Productions in association with Paramount Network Television, the show was created by the team of James Burrows, Glen Charles, and Les Charles. The show is set in a bar named Cheers in Boston, Massachusetts, where a group of locals meet to drink, relax, the shows main theme song, written and performed by Gary Portnoy lent its famous refrain Where Everybody Knows Your Name as the shows tagline. After premiering on September 30,1982, it was canceled during its first season when it ranked almost last in ratings for its premiere. Cheers, however, eventually became a highly rated show in the United States, earning a top-ten rating during eight of its eleven seasons. The show spent most of its run on NBCs Thursday night Must See TV lineup and its widely watched series finale was broadcast on May 20,1993, and the shows 270 episodes have been successfully syndicated worldwide. River Jude Phoenix was an American actor, musician, and activist. He was the brother of Rain Phoenix, Joaquin Phoenix, Liberty Phoenix. Phoenixs work encompassed 24 films and television appearances, and his rise to fame led to his status as a teen idol and he began his acting career at age 10, in television commercials. He starred in the science fiction adventure film Explorers, and had his first notable role in 1986s Stand By Me, a coming-of-age film based on the novella The Body by Stephen King. For his performance in the latter, Phoenix garnered enormous praise and won a Volpi Cup for Best Actor at the Venice Film Festival, along with Best Actor from the National Society of Film Critics. On October 31,1993, Phoenix collapsed and died of combined drug intoxication following an overdose on the sidewalk outside the West Hollywood nightclub The Viper Room at the age of 23. Phoenix has stated that they lived in a desperate situation, Phoenix often played guitar while he and his sister sang on street corners for money and food to support their ever-growing family. Screenwriter Naomi Foner later commented, He was totally, totally without education, I mean, he could read and write, and he had an appetite for it, but he had no deep roots into any kind of sense of history or literature. Amos Muzyad Yakhoob Kairouz, known professionally by his stage name Danny Thomas, was an American nightclub comedian, singer, actor, and producer, whose career spanned five decades. He created and starred in one of the most successful and long running situation comedies in the history of American network television. In addition to guest roles on many of the comedy, talk and musical variety programs of his time, thomass long career began in films in 1947, playing opposite child actor Margaret OBrien in The Unfinished Dance and In a Corner of Spain. He then achieved continuing success starring in the television sitcom Make Room for Daddy. He was also the founder of St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital and he was the father of Marlo Thomas, Terre Thomas, and Tony Thomas. One of 10 children, Danny Thomas was born as Amos Muzyad Yakhoob Kairouz on January 6,1912, in Deerfield, Michigan, to Charles Yakhoob Kairouz and his parents were Maronite Catholic immigrants from Lebanon. Kairouz and Taouk are two prominent families from Bsharri, Thomas was raised in Toledo, Ohio, attending St. Francis de Sales Church, Woodward High School, and finally the University of Toledo, where he was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. Thomas was confirmed in the Catholic Church by the bishop of Toledo, Stritch, a native of Tennessee, was a lifelong spiritual advisor for Thomas, and advised him to locate the St. Jude Hospital in Memphis. He married Rose Marie Cassaniti in 1936, a week after his 24th birthday, in 1932, Thomas began performing on radio in Detroit at WMBC on The Happy Hour Club. Thomas first performed under his birth name, Amos Jacobs Kairouz. After he moved to Chicago in 1940, Thomas did not want his friends and family to know he went back into working clubs where the salary was better, so he came up with the pseudonym Danny Thomas. Further, the 1930 Census states his parents were born in Syria, while the 1920 Census states that they were born in Seria, and that their mother tongue is Serian. Indeed, Lebanon was part of the Ottoman Empire until 1920, Thomas also portrayed himself as a scatterbrained Lothario on this show. His other network radio work included a stint as Jerry Dingle the postman on Fanny Brices The Baby Snooks Show, in the early 1950s he made several appearances on the popular NBC variety program, The Big Show, hosted by stage legend Tallulah Bankhead. Thomas also had his own program, The Danny Thomas Show. The 30-minute weekly variety show was on ABC in 1942-43 and on CBS in 1947-48, in 1952 Thomas recorded an Arabic folk song for the album The Music of Arab-Americans, A Retrospective Collection. Spenser, For Hire is a mystery television series based on Robert B. The series, developed for TV by John Wilder and starring Robert Urich, was broadcast on the ABC network between September 20,1985, and May 7,1988, like many TV detective series and the Spenser novels themselves, the show uses first person voice-over. The series ran on ABC from September 20,1985, to May 7,1988, despite frequent time slot changes and occasional pre-emptions, the show garnered decent ratings. Location shooting ultimately led to the demise, with costs being cited as one of the main reasons why ABC cancelled it. Filmed largely shot in Boston, which was considered one of the strong points, it featured shots from many locations. The shows music was produced by Steve Dorff and Larry Herbstritt, Spenser is the only name used for this character throughout the show. While it is clear in the novel that Spenser is the characters last name, according to a popular rumor, Parker was going to name the character David, after one of his sons, but changed his mind out of consideration for his other son, Daniel. In An Eye For An Eye, Spenser quotes 16th-century poet Edmund Spenser, when introducing himself, he often says Spenser with an S, like the poet. Spenser is surprisingly sophisticated for an eye and former boxer. In The Choice, it is revealed that Spenser fared poorly in a professional fight 12 years ago, however, he still boxes and exercises at Henry Cimolis Gym. He is well-read, often quoting poetry in everyday conversation and he is also an excellent cook, often making recipes he picks up from watching Julia Child on his kitchen counter television. Spenser lives in Boston and, like many detectives on TV and his first is a mildly-worn out, ivy green 66 Ford Mustang which is destroyed in the beginning of the second season. It is succeeded by a new 1987 Mustang 5.0 GT which, in the show Spenser carries a Beretta 9mm pistol, whereas in the books his weapon of choice is a Browning Hi-Power 9mm pistol along with a 38 cal. snubnosed revolver for casual carry. In the novels, Spenser had served as an infantryman in the 1st Infantry Division during the Korean War, however, the television version of the character was younger than his literary counterpart, and acknowledged being a veteran of the Vietnam War in the series pilot episode. Spenser was also a member of the Boston police force. In Children of the Tempest Storm, Ms. Silverman reveals that she is pregnant with Spensers child, the word abortion comes up when talking with her doctor, and is discussed throughout the episode, though often not using the word. Susan and Spenser discuss the issue and are at odds over the moral dilemma before them, Spenser, a Catholic, does not know if he can stay with Susan, though he loves her deeply, if she aborts. Robert Michael Urich was an American film, television and stage actor and television producer. Over the course of his 30-year career, he starred in a record 15 television series, Urich began his career in television in the early 1970s. After guest stints and roles in short-lived television series, he won a co starring role in the drama series S. W. A. T. in 1975. In 1976, he landed the role of Dan Tanna in the drama series Vega$. It aired on ABC from 1978 to 1981, and earned him two Golden Globe Award nominations, in addition to his work in television, he also starred in several feature films, including Magnum Force, The Ice Pirates, and Turk 182. From 1985 to 1988, he portrayed the role in the detective television series Spenser, For Hire. Parkers popular series of mystery novels, in 1988, he began hosting the documentary series National Geographic Explorer. He won a CableACE Award for his work on the series and he was also awarded a Golden Boot Award for his work in Western television series and films. In 1996, Urich starred in the The Lazarus Man and it was canceled shortly after he announced that he was diagnosed with synovial sarcoma, a rare cancer, in July 1996. He sought treatment for his illness while continuing his career and also worked to raise money for cancer research and he was declared cancer free in 1998 and returned to television in the UPN series, Love Boat, The Next Wave. In 2000, he made his Broadway debut as Billy Flynn in the musical Chicago and his last role was in the NBC sitcom Emeril in 2001, but in fall that year, his cancer returned. He died of sarcoma in Thousand Oaks, California, in 2002 at the age of 55. Urich was born in Toronto, Ohio, the son of John Paul and he was of Rusyn and Slovak extraction and raised Byzantine Catholic and Roman Catholic. Urich attended Florida State University on a scholarship, and was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. In 1968, he earned a degree in Radio and Television Communications. He went on to Michigan State University after working in Ohio to earn a degree in Broadcast Research. He then worked as a salesman in Chicago at WGN-TV and he later worked as a weatherman. Louis Lou Grant is a fictional character played by Edward Asner in two television series produced by MTM Enterprises for CBS. The first was The Mary Tyler Moore Show, a half-hour light-hearted situation comedy in which the character was the director at fictional television station WJM-TV. Although spin-offs are common on American television, Lou Grant remains the only character to have a role on both a popular comedy and a popular dramatic series. Although the setting of The Mary Tyler Moore Show might have implied that he was a native Minnesotan, Lou Grant in fact established that he was born in the town of Goshen. He was the son of John Simpson Grant and Ellen Hammersmith Grant, at some point in his youth and early adulthood he developed a lifelong affection for westerns, particularly those starring John Wayne. In high school, he was a tackle for his schools football team, soon after high school, he married Edie MacKenzie, at an age young enough to have four grandchildren before he turned 50. After marriage he became a combatant in World War II and he served in both the Pacific and European Theatres. At one point, he was a sergeant in the Pacific-based 2nd Marine Division, during another phase of his wartime service he was injured by a grenade in France, the last remnants of which were only removed in his late 40s. He was also part of a unit that liberated a town in Germany. During the war he met and befriended Walter Cronkite and he attended college, likely after the war. He started his career in print journalism as a boy but it is unclear whether this was in Detroit. In this period of his life he met and worked with Charlie Hume for the first time at the San Francisco Call-Bulletin and he eventually became the head of the WJM news department. He worked in that capacity for 11 years, for most of that period, Mary Richards served as his associate producer, Ted Baxter as his news anchor and Murray Slaughter as his head writer. Of these relationships, the one with Richards was likely the closest, when he first interviewed Mary he liked her because she had spunk, even though he hated spunk. He offered her the job of producer, which paid less than the secretarial position for which shed initially interviewed. She accepted, saying that she could afford to be an associate producer. At the same time Mary discovered that Lou was a heavy drinker, except for one abortive attempt at romance, his general attitude towards her was paternalistic. A typical display of his affection for Richards came when his nephew, Allen, Lou became infuriated and said Listen you, let me remind you of something, and remember this forever

Asner is best known for his character Lou Grant, who was first introduced on The Mary Tyler Moore Show in 1970, in 1977, after the series, Asners character was given his own show, Lou Grant. In contrast to the Mary Tyler Moore series, a thirty-minute comedy, other television series starring Asner in regular roles include Thunder Alley, The Bronx Zoo and Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. McKean was born October 17,1947, in New York City, the son of Ruth, a librarian, and Gilbert McKean, one of the founders of Decca Records, and was raised in Sea Cliff, New York, on Long Island. McKean is of Irish, English, Scottish, and some German and Dutch, McKean began his career in Pittsburgh while a student at Carnegie Mellon, David Lander was a fellow student at CMU. McKean directed one episode, and the characters became something of a phenomenon, even releasing an album as Lenny and the Squigtones in 1979, foreign Legion of Love was a big hit for the Squigtones, with frequent play on the Dr. Demento Show. McKean also played his character in an episode of Happy Days, after leaving Laverne & Shirley in 1982, McKean played David St. Hubbins in the comedy This is Spinal Tap with both Guest and Shearer, and appeared in the soap opera spoof Young Doctors in Love. McKean was part of an ensemble cast in the television series Grand on NBC which aired in 1990. In 1991 McKean co-wrote the second episode and later directed the episode of the mock documentary series Morton & Hayes, created by Phil Mishkin. Having already appeared as a musical guest and then host of Saturday Night Live, McKean joined the cast in 1994 and remained a cast member until 1995. During this time, he released a video follow up to Spinal Tap, played the villainous Mr. Dittmeyer in The Brady Bunch Movie. His recent films of the time included Best in Show, Little Nicky, The Guru, And Starring Pancho Villa as Himself, McKean had a regular role as the brassy, heavily made-up bandleader Adrian Van Horhees in Martin Shorts Comedy Central series, Primetime Glick. Peter Seamus OToole was a British-Irish stage and film actor. He achieved international recognition playing T. E. Lawrence in Lawrence of Arabia for which he received his first nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actor, in 2002, OToole was awarded the Academy Honorary Award for his career achievements. He was additionally the recipient of four Golden Globe Awards, one British Academy Film Award, some sources give his birthplace as Connemara, County Galway, Ireland, while others cite St James University Hospital, Leeds, England. Peter had a sister, Patricia. He grew up in the Hunslet, south Leeds, son of Constance Jane Eliot, a Scottish nurse, and Patrick Joseph Spats OToole, when OToole was one year old, his family began a five-year tour of major racecourse towns in Northern England. He was brought up as a Catholic, I used to be scared stiff of the nuns, their whole denial of womanhood – the black dresses and the shaving of the hair – was so horrible, so terrifying. Of course, thats all been stopped, theyre sipping gin and tonic in the Dublin pubs now, and a couple of them flashed their pretty ankles at me just the other day, he said. Upon leaving school OToole obtained employment as a trainee journalist and photographer on the Yorkshire Evening Post, as reported in a radio interview in 2006 on NPR, he was asked by an officer whether he had something he had always wanted to do. His reply was that he had wanted to try being either a poet or an actor. At RADA, he was in the class as Albert Finney, Alan Bates. OToole described this as the most remarkable class the academy ever had, OToole began working in the theatre, gaining recognition as a Shakespearean actor at the Bristol Old Vic and with the English Stage Company, before making his television debut in 1954. He first appeared on film in 1959 in a role in The Day They Robbed the Bank of England. OTooles major break came when he was chosen to play T. E. Lawrence in Sir David Leans Lawrence of Arabia, after Marlon Brando proved unavailable and his performance was ranked number one in Premiere magazines list of the 100 Greatest Performances of All Time. The role introduced him to US audiences and earned him the first of his eight nominations for the Academy Award for Best Actor, T. E. Lawrence, portrayed by OToole, was selected in 2003 as the tenth-greatest hero in cinema history by the American Film Institute. OToole was one of several actors to be Oscar-nominated for playing the role in two different films, he played King Henry II in both Becket and The Lion in Winter. OToole played Hamlet under Laurence Oliviers direction in the production of the Royal National Theatre in 1963. My Favorite Year is a 1982 American comedy film written by Dennis Palumbo and Norman Steinberg, and directed by Richard Benjamin, which tells the story of a young comedy writer. It stars Peter OToole, Mark Linn-Baker, Jessica Harper, OToole was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor. The film was adapted into an unsuccessful 1992 Broadway musical of the same name, Benjy Stone, the narrator, tells of the summer he met his idol, swashbuckling actor Allan Swann. In the early days of television, Benjy works as a comedy writer for a variety show starring Stan King Kaiser. As a special upcoming guest, they get the still famous Swann, however, when he shows up, they realize that he is a roaring drunk. Kaiser is ready to dump him, until Benjy intervenes and promises to keep him sober during the leading up to the show. As Benjy watches out for Swann, they learn much about each other, in Benjys case, its his Jewish mother, who is married to a Filipino former bantamweight boxer, Rookie Carroca, and Benjys embarrassing relatives, such as uncouth Uncle Morty. For Swann, it is his daughter, Tess, who has been raised entirely by her mother. He stays away, but continues to keep tabs on her secretly, during the week of rehearsals, Kaiser is threatened by corrupt union boss Karl Rojeck, who does not appreciate being parodied on the show. Accidents start happening when Kaiser refuses to stop performing the Boss Hijack sketches, in a subplot, Benjy tries, clumsily and over-enthusiastically, to win the affections of co-worker K. C. Swann advises him on the approach, which includes crashing a party at the home of K. C. s affluent parents. The night of the show arrives, but minutes away from going on-air. As Benjy puts it, Nobodys that good an actor, as the Boss Hijack sketch gets underway, Rojecks men show up backstage and begin beating up Kaiser. The fight spills onto the stage during the live broadcast, Swann and Benjy observe the melee from a balcony, when the audience suddenly notices Swann and breaks into enthusiastic applause. Swann grabs a rope and swings into action, saving Kaiser in front of an appreciative if still clueless audience. Benjy narrates the epilogue, relating that Swann, his confidence bolstered, finally gets up the nerve to visit his daughter the next day, Peter OToole as Alan Swann Mark Linn-Baker as Benjy Stone Jessica Harper as K. Pennies from Heaven is a 1981 American musical film adapted from a 1978 BBC television drama. Dennis Potter adapted his own screenplay from the BBC series for American audiences, changing its setting from London, Potter was nominated for the 1981 Academy Award for Writing Adapted Screenplay, but lost to On Golden Pond. The film starred Steve Martin, Bernadette Peters, Christopher Walken, the director was Herbert Ross and the choreographer was Danny Daniels. In 1934, Chicago sheet-music salesman Arthur Parker is having a hard time and his business and marriage are failing, and Joan refuses to give him the money she inherited from her father to start his own business. Arthurs dream is to live in a world that is like the songs he tries to sell and he is refused a bank loan, although he fantasizes that he gets it. In his travels, Arthur meets a teacher, Eileen. They embark on an affair, but Arthur leaves her and returns to Joan. Arthur denies having an affair, though Joan is sure he is lying, Eileen gets pregnant by Arthur and is fired. With nowhere to go, she takes up with stylish pimp Tom, while Eileen is attracted to Toms badness, Tom clearly means business, and arranges for her to have an abortion. When Arthur meets Eileen again, she is now a prostitute calling herself Lulu and they resume their romance, and Eileen leaves Tom and her sordid life. Impulsively, Arthur convinces her to run away together, having failed to sell his business, Arthur and Eileen break into the store one night and trash it, smashing its phonograph records. To supplement their income, Eileen keeps prostituting in spite of Arthurs objections, a blind girl whom Arthur knew superficially is raped and murdered by an accordion-playing hobo, whom Arthur had given a ride earlier in the film. The polices suspicions are confirmed by Joan, who reveals to them Arthurs sexual predilections to get back at him for cheating on her, the police find Arthur trying to leave town with Eileen, and arrest him for murder, he is soon convicted and sentenced to death. At the gallows, he recites the lyrics from the song Pennies from Heaven, in one final fantasy, Arthur and Eileen are reunited, with Arthur saying, Weve worked too hard not to have a happy ending. Martin had watched the original miniseries and considered it the greatest thing ever seen and he trained for six months learning to tap dance. Christopher Walken trained as a dancer as a man and he was able to use his dancing skills in the film. In addition, MGM prohibited broadcast of the BBCs original production for 10 years, around 1989, at the prompting of Alan Yentob, the controller of BBC2, producer Kenith Trodd was able to buy back the rights from MGM for a very inconsiderable sum. Stephen Glenn Steve Martin is an American actor, comedian, writer, producer and musician. Martin came to notice in the 1960s as a writer for The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour. In the 1970s, Martin performed his offbeat, absurdist comedy routines before packed houses on national tours, in 2004, Comedy Central ranked Martin at sixth place in a list of the 100 greatest stand-up comics. He was awarded an Honorary Academy Award at the Academys 5th Annual Governors Awards in 2013 and he released his first solo music album, The Crow, New Songs for the 5-String Banjo, in 2009, for which he won the Grammy Award for Best Bluegrass Album. Martin was born on August 14,1945, in Waco, Texas, the son of Mary Lee and Glenn Vernon Martin, Martin was raised in Inglewood, California, and then later in Garden Grove, California, in a Baptist family. Martin was a cheerleader of Garden Grove High School, One of his earliest memories is of seeing his father, as an extra, serving drinks onstage at the Call Board Theatre on Melrose Place. During World War II, in the United Kingdom, Martins father had appeared in a production of Our Town with Raymond Massey, expressing his affection through gifts of cars, bikes, etc. Martins father was stern, and not emotionally open to his son and he was proud but critical, with Martin later recalling that in his teens his feelings for his father were mostly ones of hatred. Martins first job was at Disneyland, selling guidebooks on weekends, during his free time, he frequented the Main Street Magic shop, where tricks were demonstrated to potential customers. While working at Disneyland, he was captured in the background of the movie that was made into the short-subject film Disneyland Dream. By 1960, he had mastered several of the tricks and illusions, there he perfected his talents for magic, juggling, and creating balloon animals in the manner of mentor Wally Boag, frequently performing for tips. After high school graduation, Martin attended Santa Ana College, taking classes in drama, in his free time, he teamed up with friend and Garden Grove High School classmate Kathy Westmoreland to participate in comedies and other productions at the Bird Cage Theatre. He joined a comedy troupe at Knotts Berry Farm, later, he met budding actress Stormie Sherk, and they developed comedy routines and became romantically involved. Sherks influence caused Martin to apply to the California State University, Long Beach, Stormie enrolled at UCLA, about an hours drive north, and the distance eventually caused them to lead separate lives. Inspired by his classes, Martin considered becoming a professor instead of an actor-comedian. His time at college changed his life and it changed what I believe and what I think about everything. Something about non-sequiturs appealed to me, in philosophy, I started studying logic, and they were talking about cause and effect, and you start to realize, Hey, there is no cause and effect. Then it gets real easy to write this stuff because all you have to do is twist everything hard—you twist the punch line, Martin recalls reading a treatise on comedy that led him to think What if there were no punch lines

Bernadette Peters is an American actress, singer and childrens book author. Over the course of a career that has spanned five decades, she has starred in theatre, films and television, as well as performing in solo concerts. She is one of the most critically acclaimed Broadway performers, having received nominations for seven Tony Awards, four of the Broadway cast albums on which she has starred have won Grammy Awards. Peters first performed on the stage as a child and then an actress in the 1960s. In the 1980s, she returned to the theatre, where she one of the best-known Broadway stars over the next three decades. She also has recorded six albums and several singles, as well as many cast albums. In the 2010s, Peters continues to act on stage, in films and on television in series as Smash. She has been nominated for three Emmy Awards and three Golden Globe Awards, winning once, Peters was born into a Sicilian American family in Ozone Park, Queens, New York, the youngest of three children. Her father, Peter Lazzara, drove a delivery truck. Her siblings are casting director Donna DeSeta and Joseph Lazzara and she appeared on the television shows Name That Tune and several times on The Horn and Hardart Childrens Hour at age five. In January 1958, at age nine, she obtained her Actors Equity Card in the name Bernadette Peters to avoid ethnic stereotyping, with the stage name taken from her fathers first name. She made her stage debut the same month in This is Goggle. She first appeared on the New York stage at age 10 as Tessie in the New York City Center revival of The Most Happy Fella. In her teen years, she attended the Quintanos School for Young Professionals, at age 13, Peters appeared as one of the Hollywood Blondes and was an understudy for Dainty June in the second national tour of Gypsy. During this tour, Peters first met her long-time accompanist, conductor and arranger Marvin Laird, who was the assistant conductor for the tour. In 1964, she played Liesl in The Sound of Music and Jenny in Riverwind in summer stock at the Mt. Gretna Playhouse, and Riverwind again at the Bucks County Playhouse in 1966. Doris Roberts was an American actress, author, and philanthropist whose career spanned six decades of television. She appeared as a guest on talk and variety shows. She was an advocate of animal rights and animal-rights activism, supporting groups such as the United Activists for Animal Rights and she received five Emmy Awards and a Screen Actors Guild award during her acting career, which began in 1951. She achieved continuing success for her role as Raymond Barones mother, Marie Barone, on the long-running CBS sitcom. In 1978, she appeared in a film about John F. Kennedys assassination, Ruby and Oswald and she also appeared very briefly in The Rose, as the mother of the title character. Roberts played Theresa Falco on Angie, and later appeared as Mildred Krebs on Remington Steele, after Remington Steele ended, she starred in the TV movie remake of If Its Tuesday, It Still Must Be Belgium and the National Lampoons Christmas Vacation. She appeared on Alice, playing the mother of the character, on Barney Miller as the wife of a man who secretly went to a sex surrogate. She played the unhinged Flo Flotsky on four episodes of Soap, Dorelda Doremus, a healer, on Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman. Roberts achieved much of her fame for her role as Marie Barone on Everybody Loves Raymond and she was reportedly one of 100 actresses considered for the role. For her work on the series, she was nominated for seven Emmy Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. Cesar Julio Romero Jr. was an American actor, singer, dancer, voice artist, and comedian who was active in film, radio, and television for almost 60 years. Cesar Julio Romero Jr. was born in New York City on February 15,1907 and his mother was said to be the biological daughter of Cuban national hero José Martí. His father was born in Barcelona, Spain and emigrated to the United States in 1888 and his mother was a concert singer. He grew up in Bradley Beach, New Jersey, and was educated at Bradley Beach Elementary School, Asbury Park High School, the Collegiate School, and the Riverdale Country Day School. However, that changed dramatically when his parents lost their sugar import business. Romeros Hollywood earnings allowed him to support his family, all of whom followed him to the American West Coast years later. Romero lived on and off with various members for the rest of his life. On October 12,1942, he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard as an apprentice seaman. He reported aboard the Coast Guard-manned assault transport USS Cavalier in November 1943, according to a press release from the period, Romero saw action during the invasions of Tinian and Saipan. The same article mentioned that he preferred to be a part of the crew and was eventually promoted to the rating of Chief Boatswains Mate. At 63 Romero was very tall for an actor, and routinely played Latin lovers in films from the 1930s until the 1950s and he starred as the Cisco Kid in six westerns made between 1939 and 1941. Romero danced and performed comedy in the 20th Century Fox films he starred in opposite Carmen Miranda and Betty Grable, such as Week-End in Havana and Springtime in the Rockies, in the 1940s. He also played a role as Sinjin, a piano player in Glenn Millers band. In The Thin Man, Romero played a supporting role opposite the films main star William Powell. Many of Romeros films from this period saw him cast in small character parts, such as Italian gangsters. Romero had a role as the Pathan rebel leader, Khoda Khan, in John Fords 1937 British Raj-era actioner Wee Willie Winkie. He also appeared in a turn as a subversive opponent to Frank Sinatra. 20th Century Fox, along with mogul Darryl Zanuck, personally selected Romero to co-star with Tyrone Power in the Technicolor historical epic Captain from Castile, while Power played a fictionalized character, Romero played Hernán Cortés, a historical conquistador in Spains conquest of the Americas

A mockumentary or docucomedy is a type of movie or television show depicting fictional events but presented as a documentary. These productions are used to analyze or comment on current events and issues by using a fictional setting. While not always comedic, comedic mockumentaries are common, a dramatic mockumentary should not be confused with docudrama, a fictional genre in which dramatic techniques are combined with documentary elements to depict real events. Mockumentaries are often presented as documentaries, with B roll and talking heads discussing past events. Examples emerged during the 1950s when archival film footage became relatively easy to locate, a very early example was a short piece on the Swiss Spaghetti Harvest that appeared as an April fools joke on the British television program Panorama in 1957. The term mockumentary, which originated in the 1960s, was popularized in the mid-1980s when This Is Spinal Tap director Rob Reiner used it in interviews to describe that film. Mockumentaries are often partly or wholly improvised, as a style of acting helps to maintain the pretense of reality. Comedic mockumentaries rarely have laugh tracks, also to sustain the atmosphere, albert Brooks was also an early popularizer of the mockumentary style with his film Real Life,1979, a spoof of a PBS documentary. Woody Allens Take the Money and Run is presented in documentary-style with Allen playing a criminal, Virgil Starkwell. Jackson Beck, who used to narrate documentaries in the 1940s, fictional interviews are interspliced throughout, especially those of Starkwells parents who wear Groucho Marx noses and mustaches. The style of film was widely appropriated by others and revisited by Allen himself in films such as Zelig and Sweet. Since the beginning of the 1980s, the format has enjoyed considerable attention. In 1984, Christopher Guest co-wrote and starred in the mockumentary This is Spinal Tap, directed by Rob Reiner, films such as Waiting for Guffman, Best in Show, and A Mighty Wind, all written with costar Eugene Levy, were critical successes. Man Bites Dog is a 1992 Belgian black comedy crime mockumentary written, produced, and directed by Rémy Belvaux, André Bonzel, in 1995, directed by Peter Jackson and Costa Botes, Forgotten Silver claimed New Zealand director Colin McKenzie to be a pioneer in filmmaking. When the film was revealed to be a mockumentary, Jackson received criticism for tricking viewers. In 1999, Drop Dead Gorgeous by Michael Patrick Jann used the style to narrate a fictional small-town beauty pageant as a way to satirize Middle America. Dark Side of the Moon is a 2002 French mockumentary by director William Karel, the premise for the film is the theory that the television footage from the Apollo 11 Moon landing was faked and actually recorded in a studio by the CIA with help from director Stanley Kubrick. FUBAR is a 2002 Canadian mockumentary film, directed by Michael Dowse, the Confederate States of America is a 2004 mockumentary presenting an alternative history in which the Confederacy won the American Civil War

Tad Martin is a fictional character from the American daytime drama, All My Children. Tad is portrayed by actor Michael E. Knight, Knight has portrayed the role on and off from 1982 until the series finale in 2011. Tad represents the good on the show, often butting heads with villains like Adam Chandler and he is perhaps the best male friend to Erica Kane. His relationship with Dixie Cooney made them a favorite of fans, under secrecy, Knight returned for the first season finale of Prospect Parks version of All My Children on September 2,2013. Thaddeus James Tad Gardner is written into All My Children in the summer of 1973, Tad, whose birthdate is noted as September 1,1963, is beaten and abandoned by his biological father Ray Gardner. Tad is found in a Pine Valley park by Dr. Jeff Martin and his fiancée, nurse Mary Kennicott, who become Tads foster parents. When Mary is killed during an invasion, Jeff asks his parents, Dr. Joe and nurse Ruth Martin. Ray returns and tries to sell Tad to the Martins for $15,000, angered at their refusal to pay, Ray rapes Ruth. When Ray is sent to prison for the crime, Tad is formally adopted by the Martins and he develops a close relationship with his adoptive grandmother. But despite this, Tad proves to be a rebellious teenager, in 1981, he steals the Martins car, and runs away from home for two years. Tad returns to Pine Valley in 1982, SORASd to age 20 and he gets a job modeling for Olga Swenson. He is nicknamed Tad the Cad because he seduces and dumps many women and he is once caught in Erica Kanes bedroom with another model, which costs him his job. He begins seeing Liza Colby, a rival of his sister, Jenny Gardner. Tad has an affair with Lizas mother, Marian Colby. In 1984, Edna Thornton Ferguson pays Tad to date her daughter, at the same time, he falls in love with Hillary Wilson, stepdaughter of town matriarch Phoebe Tyler Wallingford and daughter of Langley Wallingford. Palmer Cortlandt is a fictional character on the long-running ABC soap opera All My Children, played by James Mitchell from 1979 to 2010. A major character until 2002, when health issues forced him to reduce his work load, Mitchell appeared in a handful of episodes throughout 2008, last appearing on September 19,2008. Mitchell retired from acting in 2009 but made a final on air cameo appearance as Palmer Cortlandt on January 5,2010 to celebrate the shows 40th anniversary, a little over 2 weeks later, on January 22, Mitchell died at the age of 89. The show aired a tribute to Palmer on April 20,2010, Mitchell improvised dialogue about Palmers dobermans and the women he loved and head writer Lorraine Broderick used it, alongside numerous flashbacks, to frame the special memorial episode. James Mitchell earned seven Daytime Emmy nominations, all in the Lead Actor in a Drama Series category, in 2010, Palmer Cortlandt was ranked #11 on ABC Soaps in Depths list of Soaps 50 Naughtiest Bad Guys. Born in Pigeon Hollow, West Virginia, as Pete Cooney, he wooed Lottie Chandler, fathered her son Ross and he changed his name to Palmer Cortlandt and made a success of himself. Palmer fell in love with Daisy, the housekeepers daughter and they had a child together, Nina, and for years, Palmer had his daughter believing that her mother had died, while she was in fact alive. He had kicked her out when he had discovered that she was having an affair, being the overprotective father that he was, he tried to ruin his daughters relationship with Dr. Cliff Warner in many diabolical ways. He enlisted the help of nurse, Sybil Thorne, who seduced Cliff and he tried to convince diabetic Nina that she was going blind due to her illness and shouldnt burden Cliff with an invalid wife. He hired sexy Steve Jacobi to work with and seduce Nina at Cortlandt Electronics, eventually true love won out and the happy Warners left Pine Valley together. When his first wife Daisy Cortlandt came back from the dead and it was revealed that his stern housekeeper Myra Murdoch was actually Daisys widowed mother, and thus Ninas grandmother. Myra was the one person in the Cortlandt household who was not afraid to stand up to Palmer, basically blackmailing him with secrets of the past to remain in his employ so she could help raise Nina. Shortly after arriving in Pine Valley, Palmer became interested in and married ex-hooker Donna Beck, while enjoying a skiing trip to Switzerland Palmer and Donna ran into her ex-husband, Chuck Tyler and his new girlfriend, Melanie. As they were all skiing together an avalanche surprised them and Chuck, convinced that they would never be rescued, they made love. They were rescued the day, and upon returning to Pine Valley Donna discovered that she was pregnant. She was thrilled but Palmer was suspicious because he was due to a polo accident years earlier. Not wanting to arouse suspicions, Palmer played out the role of doting husband, soon, however, it was revealed that the baby was indeed Chucks, and Palmer & Donna separated. James Mitchell was an American actor and dancer. Although he is best known to audiences as Palmer Cortlandt on the soap opera All My Children, theatre. Mitchell was born on Leap Day,1920 in Sacramento, California and his parents emigrated from England to Northern California, where they operated a fruit farm in Turlock. In 1923, Mitchells mother, Edith, left his father and returned to England with Mitchells brother and sister, she, unable to run a farm while single-handedly raising his remaining son, Mitchells father fostered him out for several years to vaudevillians Gene and Katherine King. After Mitchells mother died, however, his father remarried and brought both of his sons, but not his daughter, back to Turlock, at age seventeen, Mitchell left Turlock for Los Angeles, where he remained close to the Kings. While studying drama at Los Angeles City College, Mitchell was introduced to dance at the school of the famed teacher and choreographer, Lester Horton. After receiving his degree, he joined Hortons company, where he remained for nearly four years. In 1944, Horton took Mitchell to New York with him to form a new dance company, Mitchell, who did not study ballet until he was in his mid-twenties, was at a loss when faced with de Milles ballet combination. De Mille nevertheless offered him the position of principal dancer. Given the option between touring with Helen Hayes and dancing for de Mille, he chose de Mille, bloomer Girl began an important artistic partnership with de Mille that lasted from 1944 to 1969 and spanned theater, film, television, and concert dance. De Milles biographer, Carol Easton, describes him as the “quintessential male de Mille dancer”, because in the end I really was a partner. When I look at todays dancers, or I look at the dance films. I know I was a dancer, but I didnt have the technique, at most I was an actor-dancer. A character based on Mitchell appears in Anderson Ferrells biographical dance play, Dance/Speak, The Life of Agnes De Mille, as a film performer, Mitchell had only moderate success. In the early 1940s, he did both chorus dancing and extra work in a number of musicals and westerns. On the strength of his performance in Brigadoon, he was scouted by producer Michael Curtiz. Curtiz initially intended to put Mitchell in a picture with Doris Day that never materialized, after several months, Mitchell eventually made two films for Warner Brothers, including Raoul Walshs Colorado Territory, before following Curtiz to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. Cynthia Michele Watros is an American actress. She is known for her roles as Libby Smith on the ABC TV series Lost, Kellie in The Drew Carey Show, Erin in Titus, since July 8,2014, Watros has starred in the series Finding Carter. She was born in Lake Orion, Michigan, Watros initially became known for her role as Annie Dutton on the CBS soap opera Guiding Light from 1994 to 1998. Her character, a nurse, began as a heroine, but she gained notice, in 1998, Watros won the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her role on Guiding Light. In 1998, Watros briefly filled in for Jensen Buchanan as Victoria Hudson McKinnon on Another World while Buchanan was on maternity leave, Watros appeared as Erin Fitzpatrick on Titus from 2000 to 2002 and gained recognition as a comedic actress, playing the fiancée of the title character. According to the DVD commentary, Erin was originally intended to be neurotic and socially awkward, after Titus was canceled, she took on the role of Kellie Newmark on The Drew Carey Show, as a replacement for Christa Miller. Watros played the role from 2002 to 2004 and she was a romantic interest to Hurley and was very mysterious showing up in flashbacks. In the episode Two for the Road, Libby was shot, Libby briefly reappeared in the 2008 episode Meet Kevin Johnson. She returned in 2010 in the episode Everybody Loves Hugo in the season of Lost. In addition, she appeared in the finale, albeit without speaking lines. After her departure from Lost in 2006, Watros filmed a pilot for a show titled My Ex-Life for CBS and she was slated to play the ex-wife of a character played by Tom Cavanagh. However, the pilot was not chosen by CBS, in a May 2009 episode of the USA series In Plain Sight, A Stand-Up Triple, she guest starred as a mother of three children in the witness protection program. Beginning in April 2010, Watros joined the cast of the TV medical drama House for seven episodes as Samantha Carr, Watros appeared in the 2012 indie film, Electrick Children. In May 2012, she guest-starred in episode 8.22 of Greys Anatomy and she played Mary Matrix, coach of the FPS Varsity team in the online series Video Game High School. Corona del Mar High School is a public school located in the East Bluff neighborhood of Newport Beach, California, and belongs to the Newport-Mesa Unified School District. It is a combination of a school and a high school. The school was founded in 1962 and has an enrollment of just over 2000 students and it has been ranked by Newsweek as one of the top 200 high schools in the United States, and it has been a state champion in several sports. However, it has also featured in the national media for scandals involving homophobia, sexism. The school was founded in 1962, in the mid 1970s, the school went through an extensive design process to develop its media center. The Marian Bergeson Aquatic Center, named for state senator Marian Bergeson who was from Newport Beach, in March 2015, a 29, 000-square-foot performing arts center was finished. The center cost $16 million and seats more than 360 people, the school has been placed on multiple national and state-level lists of top schools. In 2011 U. S. News and World Report ranked it 127 of 21,786 high schools in math and science and it earned a gold medal from U. S. News and World Report in 2014, with a national ranking of 222. Between 2009 and 2014 Corona del Mar was the subject of a series of controversies concerning sexism, in February 2009, when a production of the musical Rent was cancelled, the theater teacher alleged it was due to the principal objecting to the plays depiction of homosexuality. Student demand eventually brought back the play, a settlement was reached in September, when the District agreed to create and enforce anti-harassment policies and train both students and staff. In May 2014, the school again attracted attention for an NFL-style prom draft in which female students were ceremonially drafted as dates by their male peers. The school also experienced a series of publicized academic integrity incidents, in 2012, school officials discovered that ten students had bought the answers to their tests from Amazon. com. In early 2014, eleven Corona del Mar High School students were expelled for hacking into computers with the help of a tutor to alter their grades. The following October, the tutor was arrested on charges of burglary and computer access, in response to the hacking and prom draft scandals, the school hired an ethics consultant in June 2014, with hopes of restoring the schools reputation. The consultants duties include training the students to accept diversity and be more honest, Corona del Mar competes in the Pacific Coast League of the CIF Southern Section. The Sea Kings have won 81 CIF Southern Section Championships and 12 California Interscholastic Federation State Championships, the school opened a $1.75 million aquatic center in 1992. An evening fundraiser in 2007 raised $221,000 for a refurbishment project and they have won the Boys Water polo southern section divisional title 13 times, including nine Division 1 titles. Newport Beach is a seaside city in Orange County, California, United States. Its population was 85,287 at the 2010 census, Newport Beach is also home to Newport Harbor. The citys median family income and property values consistently place high in national rankings, the Upper Bay of Newport is a canyon, which was carved by a stream in the Pleistocene period. The lower bay of Newport was formed later by sand that was brought along by ocean currents. Before settlers reached the coasts of California, the Newport area, Indian shells and relics can still be found today scattered throughout the area. Though, throughout the 1800s, settlers began to settle the area due to the availability of land, the State of California sold acre-plots of land for $1 a piece in the Newport area. James Irvine, after hearing the news, quickly traveled from his home in San Francisco to the San Joaquin Ranch. In 1905 city development increased when Pacific Electric Railway established a southern terminus in Newport connecting the beach with downtown Los Angeles, in 1906, the scattered settlements were incorporated as the City of Newport Beach. Settlements filled in on the Peninsula, West Newport, Newport Island, Balboa Island, in 1923 Corona del Mar was annexed and in 2002 Newport Coast, East Santa Ana Heights and San Joaquin Hills, were annexed. In 2008, after a battle with the city of Costa Mesa. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has an area of 53.0 square miles. 23.8 square miles of it is land and 29.2 square miles of it is water. Areas of Newport Beach include Corona del Mar, Balboa Island, Balboa Peninsula, Lido Peninsula, Newport Coast, San Joaquin Hills, and Santa Ana Heights, Newport Harbor is a semi-artificial harbor that was formed by dredging Newport Bay estuary during the early 1900s. Newport Harbor once supported maritime industries such as boatbuilding, shipbuilding, and commercial fishing and its shores are occupied mostly by private homes and private docks. With approximately 9,000 boats, Newport Harbor is one of the largest recreational boat harbors on the U. S. west coast and its a popular destination for all boating activities, including sailing, fishing, rowing, canoeing, kayaking, and paddleboarding. Newport Bay is divided by the Pacific Coast Highway bridge, which is too low for most sailboats, North of the bridge is referred to as Upper Newport Bay, or the Back Bay. The campus is situated on 55 acres of land in the portion of the city, adjacent to the University of California. The school colors are blue, Columbia blue, and white. The school mascot is the Trojan, University High School was named the best public high school in California and 8th best public high school in America in 2011 by Newsweek. Irvine, California

Irvine is an affluent city in Orange County, California, United States. It is a city, the Irvine Company started developing the area in the 1960s. Formally incorporated on December 28,1971, the 66-square-mile city had a population of 212,375 as of the 2010 census, a number of corporations, particularly in the technology and semiconductor sectors, have their national or international headquarters in Irvine. The Gabrieleño indigenous group inhabited Irvine about 2,000 years ago, gaspar de Portolà, a Spanish explorer, came to the area in 1769, which led to the establishment of forts, missions and cattle herds. The King of Spain parceled out land for missions and private use, after Mexicos independence from Spain in 1821, the Mexican government secularized the missions and assumed control of the lands. It began distributing the land to Mexican citizens who applied for grants, three large Spanish/Mexican grants made up the land that later became the Irvine Ranch, Rancho Santiago de Santa Ana, Rancho San Joaquin and Rancho Lomas de Santiago. In 1864, Jose Andres Sepulveda, owner of Rancho San Joaquin sold 50,000 acres to Benjamin and Thomas Flint, Llewellyn Bixby, in 1866, Irvine, Flint and Bixby acquired 47, 000-acre Rancho Lomas de Santiago for $7,000. After the Mexican-American war the land of Rancho Santiago de Santa Ana fell prey to tangled titles, in 1868, the ranch was divided among four claimants as part of a lawsuit, Flint, Bixby and Irvine. The ranches were devoted to sheep grazing, however, in 1870, tenant farming was permitted. In 1878, James Irvine acquired his partners interests for $150,000 and his 110,000 acres stretched 23 miles from the Pacific Ocean to the Santa Ana River. The ranch was inherited by his son, James Irvine, Jr. who incorporated it into The Irvine Company, James, Jr. shifted the ranch operations to field crops, olive and citrus crops. In 1888, the Santa Fe Railroad extended its line to Fallbrook Junction, north of San Diego, the town that formed around this station was named Myford, after Irvines son, because a post office in Calaveras County already bore the family name. The town was renamed Irvine in 1914, by 1918,60,000 acres of lima beans were grown on the Irvine Ranch. Two Marine Corps facilities, MCAS El Toro and MCAS Tustin, were built during World War II on ranch land sold to the government, James Irvine, Jr. died in 1947 at the age of 80. His son, Myford, assumed the presidency of The Irvine Company and he began opening small sections of the Irvine Ranch to urban development. The Irvine Ranch played host to the Boy Scouts of Americas 1953 National Scout Jamboree, Jamboree Road, a major street which now stretches from Newport Beach to the city of Orange, was named in honor of this event. David Sills, then a young Boy Scout from Peoria, Illinois, was among the attendees at the 1953 Jamboree, Sills came back to Irvine as an adult and went on to serve four terms as the citys mayor.
