Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Baton Rouge is the capital of the U. S. state of Louisiana and its second-largest city. It forms the seat of East Baton Rouge Parish and is located on the eastern bank of the Mississippi River. As the Capital City, Baton Rouge is the hub for Louisiana. The metropolitan area surrounding the city, known as Greater Baton Rouge, is also the second-largest in Louisiana, the urban area has around 594,309 inhabitants. Baton Rouge is an industrial, petrochemical, medical, research, motion picture. The Port of Greater Baton Rouge is the tenth largest in the United States in terms of tonnage shipped, the Baton Rouge area owes its historical importance to its strategic site upon the Istrouma Bluff, the first natural bluff upriver from the Mississippi River Delta. This allowed development of a business quarter safe from seasonal flooding, in addition, the city built a levee system stretching from the bluff southward to protect the riverfront and low-lying agricultural areas. The city is a rich center, with settlement by immigrants from numerous European nations. It was ruled by seven different governments, French, British, and Spanish in the era, West Floridian, United States territory and state, Confederate. Since European settlement, Baton Rouge has been governed by France, Britain, Spain, Louisiana, the Republic of West Florida, the Confederate States, and the United States. In 1755, when French-speaking settlers of Acadia in Canadas Maritime provinces were driven into exile by British forces, popularly known as Cajuns, the descendants of the Acadians maintained a separate culture. California is the most populous state in the United States and the third most extensive by area. Located on the western coast of the U. S, California is bordered by the other U. S. states of Oregon, Nevada, and Arizona and shares an international border with the Mexican state of Baja California. Los Angeles is Californias most populous city, and the second largest after New York City. The Los Angeles Area and the San Francisco Bay Area are the nations second- and fifth-most populous urban regions, California also has the nations most populous county, Los Angeles County, and its largest county by area, San Bernardino County. The Central Valley, an agricultural area, dominates the states center. What is now California was first settled by various Native American tribes before being explored by a number of European expeditions during the 16th and 17th centuries, the Spanish Empire then claimed it as part of Alta California in their New Spain colony. The area became a part of Mexico in 1821 following its war for independence. The western portion of Alta California then was organized as the State of California, the California Gold Rush starting in 1848 led to dramatic social and demographic changes, with large-scale emigration from the east and abroad with an accompanying economic boom. If it were a country, California would be the 6th largest economy in the world, fifty-eight percent of the states economy is centered on finance, government, real estate services, technology, and professional, scientific and technical business services. Although it accounts for only 1.5 percent of the states economy, the story of Calafia is recorded in a 1510 work The Adventures of Esplandián, written as a sequel to Amadis de Gaula by Spanish adventure writer Garci Rodríguez de Montalvo. The kingdom of Queen Calafia, according to Montalvo, was said to be a land inhabited by griffins and other strange beasts. This conventional wisdom that California was an island, with maps drawn to reflect this belief, shortened forms of the states name include CA, Cal. Calif. and US-CA. Settled by successive waves of arrivals during the last 10,000 years, various estimates of the native population range from 100,000 to 300,000. The Indigenous peoples of California included more than 70 distinct groups of Native Americans, ranging from large, settled populations living on the coast to groups in the interior. California groups also were diverse in their organization with bands, tribes, villages. Trade, intermarriage and military alliances fostered many social and economic relationships among the diverse groups, the first European effort to explore the coast as far north as the Russian River was a Spanish sailing expedition, led by Portuguese captain Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo, in 1542. Some 37 years later English explorer Francis Drake also explored and claimed a portion of the California coast in 1579. The Fosters is an American family drama television series created by Peter Paige and Bradley Bredeweg for ABC Family. It also earned two GLAAD Media Awards and one Teen Choice Award, the series tells of police officer Stef Foster and her wife Lena Adams, a school vice principal, and their multi-ethnic, blended family. Stef and Lena are the parents of Brandon, who is Stefs biological son, at the outset of the series, the couple take in two foster children, Callie and Jude, who had been bounced between foster homes. Also part of their lives is Mike Foster, Stefs patrol partner, most of the show takes place in their quiet San Diego suburb and at Anchor Beach Community Charter School, where Lena works and the Foster children go to school. Stefanie Stef Marie Adams Foster is Lenas spouse, Brandons biological mother, in the pilot episode, she and Lena take in two foster children, Callie and Jude, before adopting them. Stef is an officer for the San Diego Police Department. She is known for having a personality with bold opinions. When Jesus goes missing one night, Mariana informs her parents how she fears Jesus is at their biological mother Anas house since they recently got in contact and have been lending her money. Later, she officially marries Lena, and after having a mammogram, because it is likely that the cells will become cancerous, she undergoes surgery. Lena Elizabeth Adams Foster is Stefs wife, step-mother to Brandon, in the pilot episode, the pair take in two foster children, Callie and Jude, whom they later adopt. Lena is the principal of Anchor Beach Community Charter School. She tends to be open and reasonable, oftentimes when it comes to the childrens wrongdoings. She and Stef legally marry and the discussion of Lena carrying her first child arises, Lena interviews for a promotion at work, and reveals she is pregnant, leading the panel to question her ability to balance work and home. She later develops preeclampsia which leads to a miscarriage, Brandon Foster is the eldest Foster child, biological son of Stef and Mike, and older adoptive brother to Jesus and Mariana as well as to Jude and Callie. Brandon also has a talent for music, excelling in piano, after raising money to obtain fake IDs to get into a bar, Brandon finds himself getting beat up by his dealer. Following his subsequent hospitalization, Brandon loses sensation in his hand causing him to miss his spot in the music program, still able to play the piano, he joins a band. In the third season, Brandon goes to the Idylwild band camp and competes to play at Disney Hall, where he ultimately wins the competition. During his senior year of school, he receives an acceptance letter into The Juilliard School, his top choice in colleges and among the most prestigious in music

Homeschooling, also known as home education, is the education of children inside the home. Home education is conducted by a parent or tutor. Many families that start out with a formal structure at home often switch to less formal ways of imparting education outside of school. Homeschooling is the commonly used in North America, whereas home education is more commonly used in the United Kingdom, elsewhere in Europe. Before the introduction of school attendance laws, most childhood education was imparted by the family or community. In several countries homeschooling, in the sense, is considered to be an alternative to attending public or private schools and is a legal option for parents. In other nations, homeschooling is considered illegal or restricted to conditions, as noted in the Homeschooling international status. According to the US National Household Education Surveys, about three percent of all children in the US were homeschooled in the 2011 and 2012 school year, and as of 2016, there are about 2.3 million home-schooled students in the United States. The studies found that of children,83 percent were White,5 percent were Black,7 percent were Hispanic. For much of history and in cultures, enlisting professional teachers was an option available only to the elite social classes. Thus, until recently, the vast majority of people, especially during early childhood, were educated by family members, family friends. The earliest public schools in modern Western culture were established in the early 16th century in the German states of Gotha and Thuringia. However, even in the 18th century, the majority of people in Europe lacked formal schooling, meaning they were homeschooled, tutored, in the middle colonies, the educational situation varied when comparing New York with New England until the 1850s. Formal schooling in a classroom setting has been the most common means of schooling throughout the world, especially in developed countries, since the early-, native Americans, who traditionally used homeschooling and apprenticeship, vigorously resisted compulsory education in the United States. Rushdoony was frequently called as a witness by the Home School Legal Defense Association in court cases. During this time, American educational professionals Raymond and Dorothy Moore began to research the academic validity of the rapidly growing Early Childhood Education movement. This research included independent studies by researchers and a review of over 8,000 studies bearing on early childhood education. They asserted that formal schooling before ages 8–12 not only lacked the anticipated effectiveness, the Moores published their view that formal schooling was damaging young children academically, socially, mentally, and even physiologically

Texas is the second largest state in the United States by both area and population. Other major cities include Austin, the second most populous state capital in the U. S. Texas is nicknamed the Lone Star State to signify its former status as an independent republic, and as a reminder of the states struggle for independence from Mexico. The Lone Star can be found on the Texan state flag, the origin of Texass name is from the word Tejas, which means friends in the Caddo language. Due to its size and geologic features such as the Balcones Fault, although Texas is popularly associated with the U. S. southwestern deserts, less than 10 percent of Texas land area is desert. Most of the centers are located in areas of former prairies, grasslands, forests. Traveling from east to west, one can observe terrain that ranges from coastal swamps and piney woods, to rolling plains and rugged hills, the term six flags over Texas refers to several nations that have ruled over the territory. Spain was the first European country to claim the area of Texas, Mexico controlled the territory until 1836 when Texas won its independence, becoming an independent Republic. In 1845, Texas joined the United States as the 28th state, the states annexation set off a chain of events that caused the Mexican–American War in 1846. A slave state before the American Civil War, Texas declared its secession from the U. S. in early 1861, after the Civil War and the restoration of its representation in the federal government, Texas entered a long period of economic stagnation. One Texan industry that thrived after the Civil War was cattle, due to its long history as a center of the industry, Texas is associated with the image of the cowboy. The states economic fortunes changed in the early 20th century, when oil discoveries initiated a boom in the state. With strong investments in universities, Texas developed a diversified economy, as of 2010 it shares the top of the list of the most Fortune 500 companies with California at 57. With a growing base of industry, the leads in many industries, including agriculture, petrochemicals, energy, computers and electronics, aerospace. Texas has led the nation in export revenue since 2002 and has the second-highest gross state product. The name Texas, based on the Caddo word tejas meaning friends or allies, was applied by the Spanish to the Caddo themselves, during Spanish colonial rule, the area was officially known as the Nuevo Reino de Filipinas, La Provincia de Texas. Texas is the second largest U. S. state, behind Alaska, though 10 percent larger than France and almost twice as large as Germany or Japan, it ranks only 27th worldwide amongst country subdivisions by size. If it were an independent country, Texas would be the 40th largest behind Chile, Texas is in the south central part of the United States of America. Taiwan, officially the Republic of China, is a state in East Asia. Neighbours include China to the west, Japan to the northeast, Taiwan is the most populous state that is not a member of the United Nations, and the one with the largest economy. The island of Taiwan, also known as Formosa, was inhabited by Taiwanese aborigines before the 17th century. After a brief rule by the Kingdom of Tungning, the island was annexed by the Qing dynasty, the Qing ceded Taiwan to Japan in 1895 after the Sino-Japanese War. While Taiwan was under Japanese rule, the Republic of China was established on the mainland in 1912 after the fall of the Qing dynasty, following the Japanese surrender to the Allies in 1945, the ROC took control of Taiwan. However, the resumption of the Chinese Civil War led to the ROCs loss of the mainland to the Communists, and the flight of the ROC government to Taiwan in 1949. As a founding member of the United Nations, the ROC continued to represent China at the United Nations until 1971, in the early 1960s, Taiwan entered a period of rapid economic growth and industrialization, creating a stable industrial economy. In the 1980s and early 1990s, it changed from a one-party military dictatorship dominated by the Kuomintang to a multi-party democracy with universal suffrage, Taiwan is the 22nd-largest economy in the world, and its high-tech industry plays a key role in the global economy. It is ranked highly in terms of freedom of the press, health care, public education, economic freedom, the PRC has consistently claimed sovereignty over Taiwan and asserted the ROC is no longer in legitimate existence. Under its One-China Policy the PRC refused diplomatic relations with any country that recognizes the ROC, the PRC has threatened the use of military force in response to any formal declaration of independence by Taiwan or if PRC leaders decide that peaceful unification is no longer possible. There are various names for the island of Taiwan in use today, the former name Formosa dates from 1542, when Portuguese sailors sighted the main island of Taiwan and named it Ilha Formosa, which means beautiful island. The name Formosa eventually replaced all others in European literature and was in use in English in the early 20th century. This name was adopted into the Chinese vernacular as the name of the sandbar. The modern word Taiwan is derived from this usage, which is seen in forms in Chinese historical records. Use of the current Chinese name was formalized as early as 1684 with the establishment of Taiwan Prefecture, through its rapid development, the entire Formosan mainland eventually became known as Taiwan. The official name of the state is the Republic of China and it was a member of the United Nations representing China until 1971, when it lost its seat to the Peoples Republic of China. Georgia is a state in the southeastern United States. It was established in 1733, the last of the original Thirteen Colonies, named after King George II of Great Britain, Georgia was the fourth state to ratify the United States Constitution, on January 2,1788. It declared its secession from the Union on January 19,1861 and it was the last state to be restored to the Union, on July 15,1870. Georgia is the 24th largest and the 8th most populous of the 50 United States, from 2007 to 2008,14 of Georgias counties ranked among the nations 100 fastest-growing, second only to Texas. Georgia is known as the Peach State and the Empire State of the South, Atlanta is the states capital, its most populous city and has been named a global city. Georgia is bordered to the south by Florida, to the east by the Atlantic Ocean and South Carolina, to the west by Alabama, the states northern part is in the Blue Ridge Mountains, part of the Appalachian Mountains system. Georgias highest point is Brasstown Bald at 4,784 feet above sea level, Georgia is the largest state entirely east of the Mississippi River in land area. Before settlement by Europeans, Georgia was inhabited by the mound building cultures, the British colony of Georgia was founded by James Oglethorpe on February 12,1733. The colony was administered by the Trustees for the Establishment of the Colony of Georgia in America under a charter issued by King George II. The Trustees implemented a plan for the colonys settlement, known as the Oglethorpe Plan. In 1742 the colony was invaded by the Spanish during the War of Jenkins Ear, in 1752, after the government failed to renew subsidies that had helped support the colony, the Trustees turned over control to the crown. Georgia became a colony, with a governor appointed by the king. The Province of Georgia was one of the Thirteen Colonies that revolted against British rule in the American Revolution by signing the 1776 Declaration of Independence, the State of Georgias first constitution was ratified in February 1777. Georgia was the 10th state to ratify the Articles of Confederation on July 24,1778, in 1829, gold was discovered in the North Georgia mountains, which led to the Georgia Gold Rush and an established federal mint in Dahlonega, which continued its operation until 1861. The subsequent influx of white settlers put pressure on the government to land from the Cherokee Nation. In 1830, President Andrew Jackson signed the Indian Removal Act into law, sending many eastern Native American nations to reservations in present-day Oklahoma, including all of Georgias tribes. Despite the Supreme Courts ruling in Worcester v. Georgia that ruled U. S. states were not permitted to redraw the Indian boundaries, President Jackson and the state of Georgia ignored the ruling. Seussical

Seussical is a musical by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty based on the stories of Dr. Seuss that debuted on Broadway in 2000. The plays story is an amalgamation of many of Seusss most famous books. After a Broadway run, the production spawned two US national tours and a UK tour and it has become a beloved classic for schools, communities, and regional theatres. In a reading in New York City, Eric Idle played the Cat in the Hat, in the Toronto workshop in 1999, coordinated by Livent Inc. Andrea Martin played the Cat in the Hat, direction was by Frank Galati with choreography by Kathleen Marshall. The musical had its tryout in Boston, Massachusetts at the Colonial Theatre in September 2000. Seussical opened on Broadway at the Richard Rodgers Theatre on November 30,2000, directed by Frank Galati with choreography by Kathleen Marshall, though uncredited, Kathleen Marshalls brother Rob Marshall was hired to direct the show when it returned from Boston to Broadway. The original Broadway cast included David Shiner as the Cat in the Hat, Kevin Chamberlin as Horton, throughout the run, there were many celebrity Cat in the Hat replacements, including Rosie ODonnell and Cathy Rigby. The production received lukewarm reviews, with focusing on the huge cast of characters. The Broadway production closed on May 20,2001, after 198 performances and 34 previews, following the Broadway production, there were two US National tours. The first, in 2002–03, starred Cathy Rigby, and the second toured in 2003–04, the script for the first tour was extensively reworked after the poor showing on Broadway. This resulted in the removal or reworking of several songs, the biggest change involves Jojo, who is initially an anonymous boy who thinks up The Cat in the Hat when he finds a strange hat at center stage. The Cat helps the boy create the Seussian universe and the rest of the story, the Cat later shoves the boy into the story, making him play the role of Jojo. There is also additional dialogue, as well as the deletion of some songs and it is this version of the musical that is currently rented by the leasing company, and has enjoyed some success in regional and childrens theater companies. This production was downscaled for the National Tour, which took its bow in Spring 2014. Seussical opened on the West End at the Arts Theatre on December 4,2012, by Sell a Door Theatre Company based in Greenwich, London. Produced by David Hutchinson and Phillip Rowntree and directed by Phillip Rowntree, designed by Richard Evans and it has been announced that Seussical will once again return to the Arts Theatre in the Christmas of 2013, once again produced by Sell A Door Theatre Company. A production of the musical, directed by Thom Allison, was staged at the Young Peoples Theatre in November,2016

A Little Princess

A Little Princess is a childrens novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett, first published as a book in 1905. It is a version of the short story Sara Crewe, or, What Happened at Miss Minchins. Based on a 2007 online poll, the U. S. National Education Association named the one of its Teachers Top 100 Books for Children. In 2012 it was ranked number 56 among all-time childrens novels in a survey published by School Library Journal and it was the second of two Burnett novels among the Top 100, with The Secret Garden number 15. Miss Minchin openly fawns over Sara for her money, but secretly and jealously despises her for her wealth, Miss Minchins younger sister, Amelia, is kindhearted yet her will is weak. Despite her privilege, Sara is neither arrogant nor snobbish, but rather kind, polite and she extends her friendship to Ermengarde, the school dunce, to Lottie, a four-year-old student given to tantrums, and to Becky, the lowly, stunted fourteen-year-old scullery maid. When Sara acquires the epithet of a princess, she embraces its favorable elements in her natural goodheartedness, after some time, Saras birthday is celebrated at Miss Minchins with a lavish party, attended by all her friends and classmates. Just as it ends, Miss Minchin learns of Captain Crewes unfortunate demise, the scheme fails and Sara is left a pauper. Miss Minchin is left with an unpaid bill for Saras school fees and luxuries. In a rage, Miss Minchin takes away all of Saras possessions, makes her live in a cold and poorly furnished attic, for the next several years Sara is abused by Miss Minchin and the other servants, except for Becky. Amelia deplores how Sara is treated but is too weak to speak up about it, Sara is starved, worked for long hours, sent out in all weathers, poorly dressed in outgrown and worn-out clothes, and deprived of warmth or a comfortable bed in the attic. Despite her hardships, Sara is consoled by her friends and uses her imagination to cope, Sara also continues to be kind and polite to everyone, including those who treat her badly. The bakery shop owner sees this and wants to reward Sara, meanwhile, Mr. Carrisford and his Indian assistant Ram Dass have moved into the house next door to Miss Minchins school. Carrisford had been Captain Crewes friend and partner in the diamond mines, after the diamond mine venture failed, both Crewe and Carrisford became very ill, and Carrisford in his delirium abandoned his friend Crewe, who died of his jungle fever. As it turned out, the mines did not fail. Although Carrisford survived, he suffers from ailments and is guilt-ridden over abandoning his friend. He is determined to find Crewes daughter and heir, although he does not know where she is, Ram Dass befriends Sara when his pet monkey escapes into Saras adjoining attic. After climbing over the roof to Saras room to get the monkey, as a pleasant distraction, Carrisford and Ram Dass buy warm blankets, comfortable furniture, food, and other gifts, and secretly leave them in Saras room when she is asleep or out

The Jungle Book

The Jungle Book is a collection of stories by English author Rudyard Kipling. The stories are fables, using animals in a manner to give moral lessons. A principal character is the boy or man-cub Mowgli, who is raised in the jungle by wolves, other characters include Shere Khan the tiger and Baloo the bear. The book has been adapted many times for film and other media, the stories were first published in magazines in 1893–94. The original publications contain illustrations, some by the authors father, Rudyard Kipling was born in India and spent the first six years of his childhood there. After about ten years in England, he went back to India and these stories were written when Kipling lived in Naulakha, the home he built in Dummerston, Vermont, in the United States. The tales in the book are fables, using animals in a manner to teach moral lessons. The verses of The Law of the Jungle, for example, lay down rules for the safety of individuals, families, Kipling put in them nearly everything he knew or heard or dreamed about the Indian jungle. Other readers have interpreted the work as allegories of the politics, a letter written and signed by Rudyard Kipling in 1895 was put up for auction in 2013 by Andrusier. In fact, it is possible that I have helped myself promiscuously. The book is arranged with a story in each chapter, each story is followed by a poem that serves as an epigram. The Jungle Book came to be used as a book by the Cub Scouts. Akela, the wolf in The Jungle Book, has become a senior figure in the movement. In 1962, it received the Hugo Award for Best Novel, neil Gaimans The Graveyard Book is inspired by The Jungle Book. It follows a boy who is found and brought up by the dead in a cemetery. It has many scenes that can be linked back to Kipling. Mr. Gaiman has spoken in detail about this on his website. The infant Superman, like Mowgli, is raised by wolves, Bagheera, Akela, and Shere Khan make appearances

Psych is an American detective comedy-drama television series created by Steve Franks and broadcast on USA Network with syndicated reruns on ION Television. It is produced by Franks and Tagline Televisions Chris Henze and Kelly Kulchak, Psych debuted on Friday, July 7,2006, immediately following the fifth-season premiere of Monk, and continued to be paired with the series until Monks conclusion on December 4,2009. During the second season, a segment titled The Big Adventures of Little Shawn. It was the highest-rated U. S. basic cable television premiere of 2006. USA Network renewed the series for a season on December 19,2012, to include eight episodes. On February 5,2014, USA Network confirmed that the season of Psych would be its last. Most episodes begin with a cold open in the form of a flashback to Shawn, the flashbacks usually involve Shawn and Gus being taught a lesson by a young Henry Spencer, who wishes that his son would follow in his footsteps and become a law enforcement officer. These lessons often play a role for the climax of the episode, as a child, Shawn was taught by Henry to hone his powers of observation and deduction, often using games and challenges to test him. Each flashback also sets the theme for the episode, Shawn originally becomes known as a psychic when, after calling in tips on dozens of crimes covered on the news which help the police to close the case, the police become suspicious of his knowledge. The police theorize that such knowledge could only come from the inside, to avoid being sent to jail, Shawn uses his observational skills to convince the police that he is psychic. The interim police chief warns Shawn that if his powers are fake, pretending to have psychic powers allows him to engage in strange and comic behavior as he turns real clues into hunches and otherworldly visitations. He enjoys teasing lifelong friend Burton Guster, a pharmaceutical representative, Henry and Shawn have a difficult relationship, but despite this, Henry reluctantly helps Shawn on various occasions. Shawn Spencer is a consultant with the Santa Barbara Police Department who pretends to be a psychic. However, really his exceptional skills and eidetic memory allow him to obtain his visions. He refuses to take anything seriously, but has matured throughout the seasons. He has had romantic tension with Juliet OHara since they met, in the middle of season six, he tries to propose to her, but finds out that neither of them is ready. Though the two hit a bump in season seven when she discovers he is not psychic, they soon reconcile, when she moves to San Francisco to be Vicks head detective, he realizes he cannot live without her and resolves to move there. In a final effort to clean, he makes several DVDs, one of which he sends to Lassiter, upon which he starts to confess the truth to him

Atlanta is the capital of and the most populous city in the U. S. state of Georgia, with an estimated 2015 population of 463,878. Atlanta is the cultural and economic center of the Atlanta metropolitan area, home to 5,710,795 people, Atlanta is the county seat of Fulton County, and a small portion of the city extends eastward into DeKalb County. In 1837, Atlanta was founded at the intersection of two lines, and the city rose from the ashes of the American Civil War to become a national center of commerce. Atlantas economy is considered diverse, with dominant sectors that include logistics, professional and business services, media operations, Atlanta has topographic features that include rolling hills and dense tree coverage. Revitalization of Atlantas neighborhoods, initially spurred by the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, has intensified in the 21st century, altering the demographics, politics. Prior to the arrival of European settlers in north Georgia, Creek Indians inhabited the area, standing Peachtree, a Creek village located where Peachtree Creek flows into the Chattahoochee River, was the closest Indian settlement to what is now Atlanta. As part of the removal of Native Americans from northern Georgia from 1802 to 1825, the Creek ceded the area in 1821. In 1836, the Georgia General Assembly voted to build the Western, the initial route was to run southward from Chattanooga to a terminus east of the Chattahoochee River, which would then be linked to Savannah. After engineers surveyed various possible locations for the terminus, the zero milepost was driven into the ground in what is now Five Points. A year later, the area around the milepost had developed into a settlement, first known as Terminus, and later as Thrasherville after a merchant who built homes. By 1842, the town had six buildings and 30 residents and was renamed Marthasville to honor the Governors daughter, later, J. Edgar Thomson, Chief Engineer of the Georgia Railroad, suggested the town be renamed Atlantica-Pacifica, which was shortened to Atlanta. The residents approved, and the town was incorporated as Atlanta on December 29,1847, by 1860, Atlantas population had grown to 9,554. During the American Civil War, the nexus of multiple railroads in Atlanta made the city a hub for the distribution of military supplies, in 1864, the Union Army moved southward following the capture of Chattanooga and began its invasion of north Georgia. On the next day, Mayor James Calhoun surrendered Atlanta to the Union Army, on November 11,1864, Sherman prepared for the Union Armys March to the Sea by ordering Atlanta to be burned to the ground, sparing only the citys churches and hospitals. After the Civil War ended in 1865, Atlanta was gradually rebuilt, due to the citys superior rail transportation network, the state capital was moved from Milledgeville to Atlanta in 1868. In the 1880 Census, Atlanta surpassed Savannah as Georgias largest city, by 1885, the founding of the Georgia School of Technology and the citys black colleges had established Atlanta as a center for higher education. In 1895, Atlanta hosted the Cotton States and International Exposition, during the first decades of the 20th century, Atlanta experienced a period of unprecedented growth. Aaron Stone was a Canadian/American science fiction action-adventure television series created by Bruce Kalish. Originally broadcast with the launch of Disney XD on February 13,2009 and it was the first original series to air on the network. Produced in conjunction with Canadian Shaftesbury Films and filmed in Toronto, Ontario, the series was about a teenager named Charlie Landers who is enlisted to become the real-life counterpart of his world-renowned avatar Aaron Stone from the fictional video game Hero Rising. The series also starred David Lambert, Tania Gunadi and J. P. Manoux, unlike most of Disneys live-action shows, Aaron Stone featured a darker tone with a complex storyline. Production for the first season ran from June 2, to December 19,2008, the first season aired on Disney XD from February 13, to November 27,2009. On May 5,2009, Disney announced that the show had been renewed for a second season, kelly Blatz confirmed via Twitter account that production for the second season began on June 22,2009. The given reason was that Disney XD made the decision to put emphasis on live-action programming that is primarily comedy-based. This announcement was made before season one concluded in the United States, a total of 14 episodes were produced for the second season premiering on February 24,2010. He is the best of the best in Hero Rising and his weapons in Hero Rising and in real-life alter ego as Aaron Stone is the Gauntlet, and as said by S. T. A. N. The Gauntlet has the power of ten suns which makes it the most powerful weapon in Hero Rising and he also has a bike which is from the S. S. J. In the earlier episodes he had a crush on Emma before finding out she worked for Mr. Hall, Tania Gunadi as Emma Lau/Dark Tamara, A nerdy computer-savvy tomboy who is Charlies next door neighbor. She knows of Charlies double identity and works for Mr. Hall and she is very proficient in hacking and stealth tactics. Den Brother is a 2010 Disney Channel Original Movie starring Hutch Dano and G. Hannelius. The film premiered on August 13,2010 on Disney Channel, Alex Pearson is an avid Lemon Oaks High School hockey player who is seeking the attention of Matisse Burrows, the most attractive girl in school. All he wants is a car, but his father refuses to buy him one until his attitude improves, after showing off at one of his games and getting suspended from the team has not helped Alexs chances of getting the car. In order to become more creditable with his father, Alex has to do chores and babysit his little sister, Alex tells the girls he will be the substitute scoutmaster, and he uses the alias of Mrs. Zamboni to fool parents and the Bumblebee council. The Bumble Bee troop has to work to be able to attend the Camporee, originally the badges are made up by Alex for doing his chores, but after it gets them disqualified, Alex helps them get real badges. At the same time, he stands up for the other Den Mothers to Dina. The Bumble Bees and Alex finally earn enough to attend the event, Alex accidentally reveals himself when, during a muffin sale at the big hockey game, the coach wonders where Alex is as his suspension is over. Alex puts himself in, still disguised as Mrs. Zamboni, doing so disqualifies his troop, alienates his best friend, and disappoints his sister and father. Afterwards, Emily refuses to talk to him and his father refuses to punish him, after returning a runaway dog to one of his neighbors, Mrs. Jacklitts, Alex learns that she used to be a Bumble Bee leader herself. Alexs mother, who died two years ago, had been a Bumble Bee in Mrs. Jacklitts old troop, upon learning this, Alex makes a deal with her to help out around the house in exchange for her being the new Den Mother. After introducing her to the troop, she convinces them to forgive Alex, there, he apologizes to his team and offers the captaincy to Goose, who refuses, saying he wants Alex to be the real captain. During the game, Alex acts as a distraction instead of hogging the puck to himself and he sacrifices the winning shot to Goose, causing Goose to get the All-Star spot Alex wanted. The Bumble Bees show up with Alexs father, Matisse forgives Alex and reveals that they want Alex to be their Den Mother, at the Camporee, Alex is forced to put on the Bumble Bee uniform in order to be the Den Mother. Alex accepts as long as it works around his troops schedule, Hutch Dano as Alex Pearson G. The movie premiere generated 3.7 million viewers, the film grew its audience from the beginning with 3.08 million viewers to eventually peaked with 4.3 million viewers in its final quarter-hour, it also topped its premiere night. The Lifeguard is a 2013 American drama produced, written, and directed by Liz W. Garcia, and starring Kristen Bell and David Lambert. The film was released via video on demand on July 30,2013, Reporter Leigh London is a talented writer living in New York City. She is in a relationship with a man and finds it hard to accept his situation. After becoming disillusioned with her life in the city, she decides to leave and her mother questions why she has returned so suddenly but her father is delighted, especially after Leigh announces her decision to stay indefinitely. She becomes reacquainted with two of her friends, art appraiser Todd and vice principal Mel. While having some drinks with them, she announces that shes taken up her old high school job of the position of the community pool. Over the next few weeks, she becomes friends with Jason and his best friend Matt, Todd happily goes along with Leighs behavior, while Mel does too, it takes its toll on her relationship with her husband as they are trying to conceive a baby. Leigh begins to spend a lot more time with Jason, and soon she realizes her attraction to him, one night, after hanging out at the pool after hours with their friends, Leigh goes to the bathroom/changing room where Jason follows. They then kiss and immediately have sex on the sink basin and this starts a relationship between the two that continues over the summer, leading to frequent sexual encounters. One day while the two are having sex in bed, Leigh realizes shes falling in love with Jason and talks him into staying around longer instead of moving to Vermont with Matt as he had planned. Matt has been kicked out by his mother and has made it clear that he is desperate to leave town, after Jason postpones the Vermont plans, Matt becomes very disheartened. Meanwhile, Mels husband becomes increasingly frustrated with her carefree behavior, while at the pool one morning, Todd discovers Leigh and Jason kissing but doesnt say anything. Leighs mother asked her to move out as she isnt the one trying to get their life in order. Her cat goes missing in the process, Todd lets it slip to Mel that Leigh is staying at Jasons and Mel discovers the relationship between the two, to her horror. She approaches Leigh in anger and plans to inform Jasons father, Leigh and Jason then go searching for her cat, only to discover Matt has committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree in the woods. Matt repeatedly mentions throughout the film that he hates life in the town and is desperate to get to Vermont and it seems Jasons postponement was his last bit of hope broken. This takes its toll on Jason very hard and he is deeply distraught, Leigh takes the responsibility to inform Matts mother, who is also heartbroken at the news. Leigh consoles her until her relatives arrive and then finds her missing cat hiding near her parents house

The 2013 Sundance Film Festival took place from January 17,2013 until January 27,2013 in Park City, Utah, United States, with screenings in Salt Lake City, Utah, Ogden, Utah, and Sundance, Utah. A record 12,146 films were submitted,429 more films than the 2012 festival,4,044 feature films were submitted and 119 were selected. 8,102 short films were submitted and 65 were selected, the festival had films representing 32 countries, from 51 first-time filmmakers,27 of which had films in competition. For the first time in the history, half of the films featured were made by women. In the U. S. dramatic competition,8 directors were women and 8 were men, in the U. Linsanity, a documentary about the rise of Asian American basketball player Jeremy Lin, the Los Angeles Times wrote that it received a rousing response, easily making it one of the most crowd-pleasing documentaries to play the festival this year. Tyler Perrys House of Payne is an American sitcom television series created and produced by playwright, director, and producer Tyler Perry. The show revolved around a family living under one roof in Atlanta led by patriarch Curtis Payne. The show premiered in syndication on June 21,2006, and new episodes of a retooled version were broadcast exclusively on TBS from June 6,2007, until August 10,2012. While primarily a comedy sitcom, House of Payne was known for featuring dark themes and subject matter, such as substance abuse and it also had elements of slapstick. The storyline of the show is serialized, with references to past episodes. It was announced in later January 2017 that House of Payne would be back with a spin-off ordered at OWN with 38 episodes, the spin-off will premiere in 2018 on OWN. An order of 100 episodes was later requested by TBS, a cable record for sitcom airings was broken with 5.2 and 5.8 million for the two premiere episodes on TBS on June 6,2007. However, the audience has declined to a recent 4.3 million as of the week ending September 30,2007 and 2.260 and 2.099 as of May 19,2010, the principal cast remained the same, led by LaVan Davis. The original format of the series centred around C. J. and his moving in with his Aunt Ella. Robinne Lee had a recurring guest stint in Season 1–2 as Malik and Jazmines principal, Nicole Jamieson, Rochelle Aytes originally portrayed as Nicole Jamieson in the test pilot episodes, whereas she was Maliks math teacher. In the test run, Ella and Curtis were originally C. He is hired to shake away any suspicions from teachers and neighbors and he is considered a slacker and is always ready to take the easy way out of certain situations. Gary Gunderson is the child of the Gunderson brothers and is the mastermind of hiring Ron as their fake father. Although he is very intellectual, he can get easily stressed by certain situations, in one episode, his stress causes him to take blood pressure medication. His serious attitude always bothers people around him, Brandon Gunderson is the oldest of the brothers. Out of all of brothers, he is most confused about life, Robby Gunderson is the youngest of the brothers. Like many children his age, he enjoys food and watching television for many hours. He is the most troublesome of the brothers and he is very impressionable and is always willing to follow Rons schemes. He is frequently pushed around by his wife, Angela and she is very bossy and does not like the fact that her husband is friends with Ron. She is very suspicious of Rons fatherly care for his sons, maggie Morales is Robbies third grade teacher. She is very serious about her job and sometimes worried about the environment Robbie is being raised in and it is assumed that Ron has a crush on her, after a failed attempt at getting a kiss, unbeknownst to her. Mike Proudfoot is one of the employees at Rons job, Sport Space and he is a Native American, who Ron always asks for advice on what a Native American would know about. Their conversations usually consist of Mike denouncing that he knows more about life than what he knows about his heritage. Joker is one of Rons friends who is ready to let him in on his illegal. In random flashback scenes, Walt and Henry travel separately to Denver, Colorado, Denver Police Homicide Detective Fales later arrives in Wyoming to talk to Walt and Cady about her mothers death. Cady is shocked to learn her mother was murdered, as Walt had told her she died of cancer, Fales tells Walt they found the man suspected of killing his wife buried in a shallow grave. Walt denies killing the man, however, Detective Fales suspects that if Walt did not commit the murder, Cady arrives in Denver to speak to Detective Fales, who gives her the details of her mothers murder and informs her the suspected murderer has also been killed. Fales prods her for information, and she offers that Walt confides in Henry, Henry tells Walt that he killed the murderer because Walt was unable to do so. Vic encounters Ed Gorski, a cop from Philadelphia. They discuss the suicide of Gorskis former partner, whom Vic implicated in a scandal that prompted an internal affairs investigation. Gorski blames Vic for his partners death, leading to his stalking Vic, frightened by Gorskis manner, Vic asks Henry for help, and Walt visits Gorski to warn him away. Hector, a Cheyenne mercenary believed to have assaulted Gorski, is protected by Walt, Henry confesses to Walt that he hired Hector to kill Miller Beck, the murderer of Walts wife, but Hector explains that he only beat him up and took his teeth as trophies. Fales and his team find the teeth at Henrys bar and arrest him, Walt wins the election, and Cady is hospitalized when she is hit by a car after hers is sabotaged by an unknown assailant

S. presidential election, Twitter proved to be the largest source of breaking news, Twitters origins lie in a daylong brainstorming session held by board members of the podcasting company Odeo. Jack Dorsey, then a student at New York University. The original project name for the service was twttr, an idea that Williams later ascribed to Noah Glass, inspired by Flickr. As of January 2017, IMDb has approximately 4.1 million titles and 7.7 million personalities in its database, the site enables registered users to submit new material and edits to existing entries. Although all data is checked before going live, the system has open to abuse. The site also featured message boards which stimulate regular debates and dialogue among authenticated users, IMDb shutdown the message boards permanently on February 20,2017. Anyone with a connection can read the movie and talent pages of IMDb. A registration process is however, to contribute info to the site. A registered user chooses a name for themselves, and is given a profile page. These badges range from total contributions made, to independent categories such as photos, trivia, bios, if a registered user or visitor happens to be in the entertainment industry, and has an IMDb page, that user/visitor can add photos to that page by enrolling in IMDbPRO. Actors, crew, and industry executives can post their own resume and this fee enrolls them in a membership called IMDbPro. PRO can be accessed by anyone willing to pay the fee, which is $19.99 USD per month, or if paid annually, $149.99, which comes to approximately $12.50 per month USD. Membership enables a user to access the rank order of each industry personality, as well as agent contact information for any actor, producer, director etc. that has an IMDb page. Enrolling in PRO for industry personnel, enables those members the ability to upload a head shot to open their page, as well as the ability to upload hundreds of photos to accompany their page.
