EMU3000 series

The EMU3000 series is a series of electric multiple unit trains operated by the Taiwan Railway (TR). The trains are built by the Japanese company Hitachi Rail as inter-city trains and entered passenger service on 29 December 2021.

Taiwan Railway (TR) is a state-owned conventional railway in Taiwan. It is operated by the Taiwan Railway Corporation under the supervision of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, responsible for managing, maintaining, and running conventional passenger and freight railway services on 1,097 km (682 mi) of track in Taiwan. Passenger traffic in 2018 was 231,267,955.

The TRA purchased six initial sets of Hitachi 8-car 130 km/h tilting trains, based on JR Kyushu's 885- series design, for US$85 million, to provide accelerated East Coast services. They are locally called Taroko Express after the mountain gorge.
