Ginger A. Pooley is an American musician, best known as a bassist and backing vocalist for the Chicago alternative rock band The Smashing Pumpkins. More recently she has played bass for Gwen Stefani and Lea Michele. She is an artist and songwriter who has released solo music under the name Ginger Sling. She was also part of the female punk band the Halo Friendlies. She has toured all over the world and her music has been placed on many television shows and films. She lives in Los Angeles with her husband and daughter where she continues to create music for various projects.

The Smashing Pumpkins are an American alternative rock band from Chicago. Formed in 1988 by frontman and guitarist Billy Corgan, bassist D'arcy Wretzky, guitarist James Iha, and drummer Jimmy Chamberlin, the band has undergone several line-up changes since their reunion in 2006, with Corgan being the sole constant member since its inception. The current lineup features Corgan, Chamberlin, and Iha.
