Melnitsa Animation Studio

Melnitsa Animation Studio is one of the largest animation studios in Russia. Its also the most successful and profitable animation studio in Russia, deutsche Welle called the studio the Walt Disney of Saint Petersburg. Alongside its animation projects, Melnitsa has a devoted to creating digital special effects for both animation projects and live-action films. In 1999, Melnitsa was formally established with backing from STV Film Companys Sergey Seliyanov, STV Film Company retains a 50% share of the studio. The newly formed studios first project was Adventures in Oz for NTV-film, in 2001, Melnitsa released its first 3D-animated project - the short film Good Morning by Denis Chernov. In 2002 Melnitsa released two films by the famous animator and director Konstantin Bronzit, There Was an Old Lady for Scholastic Entertainment. In 2000, Melnitsa began work on the animated film Little Longnose directed by Ilya Maksimov. The film premiered on March 20,2003, reportedly becoming one of the first Russian animated feature film released to theatres in nearly 40 years, on December 23,2004, the feature film Alyosha Popovich and Tugarin Zmey was released, directed by Konstantin Bronzit. The film was completed on a $4 million budget, and took in about $1.7 million at the box office and this marked the beginning of Melnitsas The Three Bogatyrs trilogy, and two more films were planned over the next several years. On January 2005, at the 10th Open Russian Festival of Animated Film in Suzdal, work on it had been finished in November 2004. Bronzits film, based on a national Russian tale, was part of the huge government-sponsored project by Moscow-based Pilot studio called Gora Samotsvetov, the project, when complete, will consist of 52 13-minute films based on fairy tales from all of Russias nationalities. On March 15,2006, the film in the 3 Bogatyrs trilogy was released, called Dobrynya Nikitich and Zmey Gorynych. It came on the heels of the animated blockbuster Prince Vladimir, luntik, an animated series launched in 2007, gathered a total of over 2 billion views on YouTube. The 2013 film Three Warriors On Far Shores again established a new record for Russian animation, the release of Krepost in 2015 led to some controversy in Poland, as it depicted a 17th century battle between Russian and Polish armies

Russian language

Russian is an East Slavic language and an official language in Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and many minor or unrecognised territories. Russian belongs to the family of Indo-European languages and is one of the four living members of the East Slavic languages, written examples of Old East Slavonic are attested from the 10th century and beyond. It is the most geographically widespread language of Eurasia and the most widely spoken of the Slavic languages and it is also the largest native language in Europe, with 144 million native speakers in Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. Russian is the eighth most spoken language in the world by number of native speakers, the language is one of the six official languages of the United Nations. Russian is also the second most widespread language on the Internet after English, Russian distinguishes between consonant phonemes with palatal secondary articulation and those without, the so-called soft and hard sounds. This distinction is found between pairs of almost all consonants and is one of the most distinguishing features of the language, another important aspect is the reduction of unstressed vowels. Russian is a Slavic language of the Indo-European family and it is a lineal descendant of the language used in Kievan Rus. From the point of view of the language, its closest relatives are Ukrainian, Belarusian, and Rusyn. An East Slavic Old Novgorod dialect, although vanished during the 15th or 16th century, is considered to have played a significant role in the formation of modern Russian. In the 19th century, the language was often called Great Russian to distinguish it from Belarusian, then called White Russian and Ukrainian, however, the East Slavic forms have tended to be used exclusively in the various dialects that are experiencing a rapid decline. In some cases, both the East Slavic and the Church Slavonic forms are in use, with different meanings. The standard form of Russian is generally regarded as the modern Russian literary language, mikhail Lomonosov first compiled a normalizing grammar book in 1755, in 1783 the Russian Academys first explanatory Russian dictionary appeared. By the mid-20th century, such dialects were forced out with the introduction of the education system that was established by the Soviet government. Despite the formalization of Standard Russian, some nonstandard dialectal features are observed in colloquial speech. Thus, the Russian language is the 6th largest in the world by number of speakers, after English, Mandarin, Hindi/Urdu, Spanish, Russian is one of the six official languages of the United Nations. Education in Russian is still a choice for both Russian as a second language and native speakers in Russia as well as many of the former Soviet republics. Romanization of Russian

Romanization of the Russian alphabet is the process of transliterating the Russian language from the Cyrillic script into the Latin alphabet. Scientific transliteration, also known as the International Scholarly System, is a system that has used in linguistics since the 19th century. It is based on the Czech alphabet and formed the basis of the GOST, OST8483 was the first Soviet standard on romanization of Russian, introduced in 16 October 1935. This standard is an equivalent of GOST 16876-71 and was adopted as a standard of the COMECON. GOST7. 79-2000 System of Standards on Information, Librarianship and it is the official standard of both Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States. Machine readable passports is an adoption of an ICAO stadards for travel documents and it was used in Russian passports for a short period during 2010–2013. The standard was substituted in 2013 by GOST R ISO/IEC 7501-1-2013, which does not contain romanization, ISO/R9, established in 1954 and updated in 1968, was the adoption of the scientific transliteration by the International Organization for Standardization. It covers Russian and seven other Slavic languages, ISO9,1995 is the current transliteration standard from ISO. It is based on its predecessor ISO/R9,1968, which it deprecates, for Russian, the UNGEGN, a Working Group of the United Nations, in 1987 recommended a romanization system for geographical names, which was based on the 1983 version of GOST 16876-71. It may be found in some international cartographic products, American Library Association and Library of Congress romanization tables for Slavic alphabets are used in North American libraries and in the British Library since 1975. The formal, unambiguous version of the system requires some diacritics and two-letter tie characters, British Standard 2979,1958 is the main system of the Oxford University Press, and a variation was used by the British Library to catalogue publications acquired up to 1975. The BGN/PCGN system is relatively intuitive for Anglophones to read and pronounce, the portion of the system pertaining to the Russian language was adopted by BGN in 1944 and by PCGN in 1947. In Soviet international passports, transliteration was based on French rules, in 1997, with the introduction of new Russian passports, a diacritic-free English-oriented system was established by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, but this system was also abandoned in 2010. In 2006, GOST52535. 1-2006 was adopted, which defines technical requirements and standards for Russian international passports, in 2010, the Federal Migratory Service of Russia approved Order No. 26, stating that all names in the passports issued after 2010 must be transliterated using GOST52535. 1-2006. The standard was abandoned in 2013, finally in 2013, Order No.320 of the Federal Migratory Service of Russia came into force. It states that all names in the passports must be transliterated using the ICAO system. This system differs from the GOST52535. 1-2006 system in two things, ц is transliterated into ts, ъ is transliterated into ie, Scholarly ¹ Some archaic letters are transcribed in different ways

Ivan Okhlobystin

Ivan Ivanovich Okhlobystin is a Russian Orthodox priest, actor, director and screenwriter. Okhlobystin became popular in the late 1990s but, following a conversion, withdrew to a monastery. Patriarch Kirill removed Okhlobystin from the priesthood on February 2010, banned him wearing priestly vestments, in early 2010, he resumed his entertainment career. Later that year he was named the director of Euroset. Okhlobystin plays the head of the department in the medical sitcom Interny. On 5 September 2011 he announced that he would run for President of Russia in 2012 through the Sky Coalition, Okhlobystin is known for his homophobic views. In December 2013, he said that he wanted to burn alive, describing them as a constant threat to his children. In July 2014, an evening with Okhlobystin in the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv was cancelled due to anti-Ukrainian statements by Okhlobystin. In November 2014, Okhlobystin visited Donetsk and declared his support for Novorussia and he said he was banned entry to Ukraine but considered Donetsk to be part of Novorussia. He is also banned from entering Latvia and Estonia and all movies and he is married since 1995 to actress Oksana Okhlobystina, six children. Mikhail Boyarsky

Mikhail Sergeevich Boyarsky is a Soviet and Russian actor and singer. In the 1980s, he was popular as a singer. Boyarsky is an Honored Artist of the RSFSR and a People’s Artist of the RSFSR, mikhail Sergeevich Boyarsky was born in the family of Sergey Boyarsky and Ekaterina Milenteva, both Komissarjevsky Theatre actors. He studied piano in a school affiliated with the Conservatory. After school, Boyarsky entered Institute of Theatre Music and Cinema, finishing in 1972, in the cinema, the actor made a debut in the films Bridges and The Straw Hat, becoming well known in 1975 after his role in the picture Eldest Son. He found much popularity in the main role of Troubadour in the theatre musical The Troubadour and His Friends, with the princess played by Larissa Luppian. In 1976, he played the big bad wolf in the movie Ma-ma and his popularity really took off in 1978 after Boyarsky starred in the musical film dArtagnan and Three Musketeers. He starred in the two sequels. With Larissa Luppian, he has a son, Sergei Boyarsky, in March 2014 he signed a letter in support of the position of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin on the official Russias position on the Crimean question

Konstantin Bronzit

Konstantin Eduardovich Bronzit is a Russian animator and animation film director and nominated twice for Oscars. He currently works at one of the largest Russian animation studio - Melnitsa Animation Studio and he is a graduate of the St. Petersburg Repin Institute of Fine Art in 1983. He worked as an artist-animator at the film studio Lennauchfilm. It was there that he completed his first film, Merry-Go-Round or The Round-About, from 1993-1995 he worked as a scriptwriter, director and animator at the Moscow Animation Studio Pilot, where he created several short films. From 1996-1999 he worked at the studio Pozitiv TV, in 1999 he completed his short film At the Ends of the Earth, which was aggressively pushed around the film festival circuit by the French distributor Folimage, eventually gathering nearly 70 awards. Since 1999 he has worked at Melnitsa Animation Studio, where he served as art director in the projects Adventures in Emerald City, in 2004 he served as the director of the animated feature film Alyosha Popovich and Tugarin Zmey. According to Bronzit, the short timeframe forced him to write the script at the same time as the film was being animated. The film was a success in Russia, and spawned two films by different directors in the same vein. His film, At The Ends Of The Earth, was included in the Animation Show of Shows and his 2015 short film We Cant Live Without Cosmos received many awards and nominations including Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film at 88th Academy Awards. In 1998 it became a subsidiary of Amazon Inc, who were then able to use it as an advertising resource for selling DVDs and videotapes. As of January 2017, IMDb has approximately 4.1 million titles and 7.7 million personalities in its database, the site enables registered users to submit new material and edits to existing entries. Although all data is checked before going live, the system has open to abuse. The site also featured message boards which stimulate regular debates and dialogue among authenticated users, IMDb shutdown the message boards permanently on February 20,2017. Anyone with a connection can read the movie and talent pages of IMDb. A registration process is however, to contribute info to the site. A registered user chooses a name for themselves, and is given a profile page. These badges range from total contributions made, to independent categories such as photos, trivia, bios, if a registered user or visitor happens to be in the entertainment industry, and has an IMDb page, that user/visitor can add photos to that page by enrolling in IMDbPRO. Actors, crew, and industry executives can post their own resume and this fee enrolls them in a membership called IMDbPro. PRO can be accessed by anyone willing to pay the fee, which is $19.99 USD per month, or if paid annually, $149.99, which comes to approximately $12.50 per month USD. Membership enables a user to access the rank order of each industry personality, as well as agent contact information for any actor, producer, director etc. that has an IMDb page. Enrolling in PRO for industry personnel, enables those members the ability to upload a head shot to open their page, as well as the ability to upload hundreds of photos to accompany their page. Anyone can register as a user, and contribute to the site as well as enjoy its content, however those users enrolled in PRO have greater access and privileges. IMDb originated with a Usenet posting by British film fan and computer programmer Col Needham entitled Those Eyes, others with similar interests soon responded with additions or different lists of their own. Needham subsequently started an Actors List, while Dave Knight began a Directors List, and Andy Krieg took over THE LIST from Hank Driskill, which would later be renamed the Actress List. Both lists had been restricted to people who were alive and working, the goal of the participants now was to make the lists as inclusive as possible. By late 1990, the lists included almost 10,000 movies and television series correlated with actors and actresses appearing therein.
