Jay D. Scott was an American convicted murderer who was executed by the state of Ohio for the 1983 murder of a delicatessen owner in Cleveland. He was the second man put to death by Ohio since it reinstated capital punishment in 1981 and the first to be executed involuntarily. Wilford Lee Berry Jr. was an American murderer. He was known as "The Volunteer" because he was the first convict to waive his right to appeal his death sentence after Ohio reinstated capital punishment, and was executed by lethal injection. His conviction and sentence stemmed from the November 30, 1989, shooting death of his employer, 52-year-old Charles Mitroff of Cleveland, Ohio.
