He is depicted sitting cross-legged, dressed in monk's robes and with a hand tilted into an alms bowl called a thabeik, is associated with nāga, water serpents, he is believed to be either Moggaliputta-Tissa, a Buddhist monk who presided the Third Buddhist council, Upagupta, a Mahayana arhat, or a creation of Mahayana Buddhism, because he is not described in the Pali Canon and only mentioned in the Burmese historical chronicle Maha Yazawin. He was a monk named Eindagotta during Kassapa Buddha's time, he told some fellow monks to live a human life again. The Buddha told him. In Gautama Buddha's time, he was a non-believer called Sula Thakuladayi, he was taught by the Buddha about the concept of saṃsāra. However, he could not become a monk because of the prophecy of Kassapa Buddha. In 265 or 182 BCE, Upagutta was born to his father Prince Dawtha Kumara.

He was told. Upagutta had a rough personality. A sage named. Years Upagutta and his mother went back to her father, king of Yazaka; the king wanted Upagutta to become his heir but his mother believed in the prophesy about her son becoming an arhat. Meanwhile, a deva went across the ocean. Upagutta began to consider the dhamma taught by Bayathe, he became an arhat and the angel dropped him. As he was falling down, a bronze palace appeared in the ocean and he started to live there; some Burmese believe that Shin Upagutta is still living, in a floating brass palace in the southern ocean, that he can be invoked through a special Pali incantation, that his mere invisible presence will prevent storms and floods. Shin Upagutta is venerated by people in the Irrawaddy Delta. A major festival dedicated to Shin Upagutta is in Shwegyin, near Bago, during the Burmese month of Thadingyut. YVTO is the callsign of the official time signal from the Juan Manuel Cagigal Naval Observatory in Caracas, Venezuela. The content of YVTO's signal, a continuous 1 kW amplitude modulated carrier wave at 5.000 MHz, is much simpler than that broadcast by some of the other time signal stations around the world, such as WWV. The methods of time transmission from YVTO are limited; the broadcast employs no form of digital time code. The time of day is given in Venezuelan Standard Time, is only sent using Spanish language voice announcements. YVTO transmits 100 ms-long beeps of 1,000 Hz every second, except for thirty seconds past the minute; the top of the minute is marked by a 0.5 second 800 Hz tone. The station broadcast on 6.100 MHz but appears to have changed to the current frequency by 1990.
