Laneast is a village and civil parish in Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. It lies above the River Inny valley, about six miles (11 km) west of Launceston. The population in the 2001 census was 164, increasing to 209 at the 2011 census.

Sidwell was a virgin saint from the English county of Devon, She is the patroness saint of Exeter and sister to Juthwara.

The church tower was left standing but was so badly damaged that it was pulled down shortly after. A replacement church was built on the site
