Maria Deraismes was a French author, feminist orator, and Freemason. She was the first woman initiated into Freemasonry in France and co-founded Le Droit Humain, the first mixed-gender Masonic order.

The bronze statue (1898) of Deraismes by Louis-Ernest Barrias. It was melted down in 1942 on German orders. It was recast in 1983 from the surviving plaster cast and re-erected.
