Wilson (pictured in 2012) stated after watching the film: "I thought the actors that portrayed me were well casted ... but they laid pretty heavy on the dark parts of my life, you know? So the movie overall was a bad experience for me to see, but there were good parts."
In the February 2016 issue of Rolling Stone, Mike Love said that he was denied an advance screening of the film, adding: "I don't really need to see it. I've lived it."
