New Bongaigaon Junction is a railway junction station of Barauni–Guwahati line, and New Bongaigaon–Jogihopa–Kamakhya line of Northeast Frontier Railway. The one and only railway station in India which is located over a river named Tunia. It is the largest railway station with Carriage & Wagon Workshop in Rangiya railway division.

The 22227/22228 New Jalpaiguri - Guwahati Vande Bharat Express is India's 18th Vande Bharat Express train, connecting the city of Siliguri in West Bengal with city of Guwahati in Assam, two most important cities of the northeastern part of India, via the cities of Coochbehar and Alipurduar in North Bengal and
Kokrajhar, Bongaigaon, Rangiya and Kamkhya of Assam. It was inaugurated on 29 May 2023 and is the first Vande Bharat Express train serving the North East of India.
