Newark Academy is a coeducational private day school located in Livingston, Essex County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey, serving students in sixth through twelfth grades. It currently is ranked in the Niche top 50 schools in the United States as well as in the top 100 prep schools in the world according to Prep Review, comparing schools from the US, UK, Australia, and Canada. It was the first school in New Jersey to offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) program. In 2024, Niche awarded it the best school in Essex County for its high school program. The school estimates that it receives about 650 applicants for 115 spots, an acceptance rate of 17%. The school has been accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Elementary and Secondary Schools since 1928.

Livingston is a township in Essex County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. As of the 2020 United States census, the township's population was 31,330, its highest decennial count ever and an increase of 1,964 (+6.7%) from 29,366 recorded at the 2010 census, which in turn reflected an increase of 1,975 (+7.2%) from the 27,391 counted in the 2000 census. In 2022, the Population Estimates Program by the United States Census Bureau calculated that the township had a population of 31,000.
