John William Cooper is a Welsh serial killer and diagnosed psychopath. On 26 May 2011, Cooper was given a whole life order for the 1985 double murder of siblings Richard and Helen Thomas, the 1989 double murder of Peter and Gwenda Dixon. Cooper was sentenced for the rape of a 16-year-old girl and a sexual assault on a 15-year-old girl, both carried out at gunpoint, in March 1996, in woodland behind the Mount Estate, Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire. Cooper had a history of crime, including violent assault. Footage from the TV game show Bullseye, in which he appeared as a contestant in May 1989, was used as evidence against him, comparing his image with a sketch of a suspect in the Dixons' murder. Cooper was sentenced to fourteen years in 1998 for robbery and burglary, enabling the police to collect further evidence against him, he was released from prison in January 2009. Through a cold case review, subsequent developments in DNA and forensic science, the police were able to identify Cooper's shotgun as the murder weapon in April 2009.
Cooper was arrested in May 2009 and was convicted in May 2011 for the double murders and sexual assaults and sentenced to a whole life order, which means he will never be released from prison. In September 2011, he launched an appeal against his convictions, his appeal was rejected in November 2012. On 22 December 1985, Cooper targeted a three-story farmhouse at Scoveston Park, killing brother and sister Richard and Helen Thomas, burning down the house. On 28 May 1989, Cooper participated in a recording of the ITV gameshow Bullseye. Footage from the show was used to match him to witness descriptions. Cooper remarked to host Jim Bowen that he had an unusual hobby of scuba diving, with Bowen remarking that Pembrokeshire was the ideal location. On 29 June 1989, Peter and Gwenda Dixon were on holiday in Pembrokeshire and were due to take their last walk along the coastal path when they failed to return, their bodies were found along the coastal path. Cooper tied the couple up, demanded they hand out their bank card and forced them to disclose their personal identification number.
Cooper, carrying a sawn-off shotgun, robbed Peter Dixon of £300 and shot the couple in the face at point blank range. The UK television series Real Crime broadcast a documentary about Cooper, in November 2011. On 24 May 2016, the Welsh language television channel S4C broadcast a documentary in the series Y Ditectif about the way in which evidence against Cooper was gathered using the latest forensic techniques available at the time, the strategy used by Dyfed-Powys Police in interviewing him and his eventual conviction. On 27 September 2016, the ITV Cymru Wales television channel broadcast a documentary in the series Crime Files which examined how police solved the two double murder cases in Pembrokeshire including an interview with the detective, tasked with interviewing Cooper. Mujib Dam is located in Wadi Mujib, between the cities of Madaba and Kerak, in the Madaba Governorate of Jordan. It is a rolled concrete dam with abutments of clay-core rockfill completed in 2004, after six years of construction. Highway 35, part of the historic King's Highway, crosses the crest; the water it impounds is combined with desalinated water piped from brackish wells along the Dead Sea to the west in a reservoir holding 35 million m3 which supplies Amman, 100 kilometres to the north helping to ease a stressed national water supply. Theta Herculis is a single, variable star in the northern constellation of Hercules. This object is visible to the naked eye as a faint, orange-hued star with an apparent visual magnitude of 3.851. Based upon parallax measurements, it is located around 750 light years away from the Sun; the star is advancing toward the Earth with a heliocentric radial velocity of –28 km/s. This is an aging K-type bright giant with a stellar classification of K1IIaCN2, where the suffix notation indicates a strong overabundance of CN in the spectrum; the brightness variations of this star was first noticed in 1935 by M. Fedtke and confirmed by Erich Przybyllok and Kurt Walter the same year. French astronomer Paul Muller classified Theta Herculis as an irregular variable with a range of magnitudes between 3.7 and 4.1 and a periodicity of 8–9 days. The star is about 130 million years old with 4.94 times the mass of the Sun. With the hydrogen at its core exhausted, the star has expanded to 90 times the Sun's radius.
It is radiating 2,406 times the luminosity of the Sun from its enlarged photosphere at an effective temperature of 4,266 K. θ Herculis is the Bayer designation, Latinised to Theta Herculis, abbreviated to θ Her or Theta Her. In the Calendarium of Al Achsasi Al Mouakket, this star was designated Rekbet al Jathih al Aisr, translated into Latin as Genu Sinistrum Ingeniculi, meaning the left knee of the kneeling man; the traditional name Rukbalgethi Genubi, encountered in various texts is etymologically similar to the stars Ruchbah and Zubenelgenubi, the term "ruchbah" meaning "knee" while "genubi" signifies "southern"—hence the "southern knee", a meaning which can be gleaned more by looking at the accompanying constellation map. In Chinese, 天紀, meaning Celestial Discipline, refers to an asterism consisting of θ Herculis, ξ Coronae Borealis, ζ Herculis, ε Herculis, 59 Herculis, 61 Herculis, 68 Herculis and HD 160054; the Chinese name for θ Herculis itself is 天紀九 It was Tien Ke, Heaven's Record.
