René Primevère Lesson was a French surgeon, naturalist and herpetologist. He was born at Rochefort, entered the Naval Medical School in Rochefort at the age of sixteen, he served in the French Navy during the Napoleonic Wars. In 1816 Lesson changed his classification to pharmacist, he served on Duperrey's round-the-world voyage of La Coquille, of which he collected natural history specimens with his fellow surgeon Prosper Garnot and officer Dumont d'Urville. During his visits to the Moluccas and New Guinea, Lesson became the first naturalist to see birds of paradise in the wild. On returning to Paris, he spent seven years preparing the section on vertebrates for the official account of the expedition: "Voyage autour du monde entrepris par ordre du Gouvernement sur la corvette La Coquille". During this time period, he produced "Manuel d'Ornithologie", "Traité d'Ornithologie", "Centurie Zoologique" and "Illustrations de Zoologie". On the 3rd of February 1827 he married the artist and scientific illustrator Clémence Dumont de Sainte-Croix. Dumont de Sainte-Croix along with her sister Zoë Dumont de Sainte-Croix illustrated plates in Lesson's publications. From 1831, he served as a professor of pharmacy, following a series of promotions, became the top-ranking naval pharmacist at Rochefort, his experience as a ship's surgeon resulted in his two-volume "Manuel d'histoire naturelle medicale, et de pharmacographie", intended as a handbook for naval surgeons. He became a corresponding member of the Académie de Médecine in 1828 becoming a correspondent of the Académie des Sciences, he received the Légion d'honneur in 1847.

Tecali de Herrera is a town and municipality in Puebla state, southeastern Mexico. The town of Tecali de Herrera is located about 47 kilometres southeast of the city of Puebla, it is center of onyx artisan objects production in Mexico. The Municipal Market Onyx is supplied by the local union craftsmen. Tecali was one of the most important cities of the Toltec−Chichimeca nobility, in the pre-Columbian era, it is registered in the "Matricula de Tributos" made during the time of Moctezuma. In the Nahuatl language the name Tecali derives fromtetl and calli, meaning'where the houses of stone are.' The ruins of the Spanish colonial era Convent of Tecali of Herrera are a designated Cultural Heritage Monument in the municipality. The Shiv Smarak or Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Memorial is a monument under construction dedicated to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the 17th century Indian warrior king and founder of the Maratha Empire. The statue will be located near the coast of Mumbai, Maharashtra; the statue will be located facing Mumbai's Girgaum Chowpatty beach, 1.5 km away on a manmade island of rocks. The statue will be 126 meters in height, placed on top of a 84 m pedestal, making the total height of the monument 212 m. Statue was planned for 192 metres, however was increased to 212 metres as the state government wanted to keep the statue as the tallest competing against an upcoming statue Spring Temple Buddha in China; the project area is planned to be spread over 130,000 square metres. It is expected to be completed in 2021; the total cost of the project was estimated to be about ₹3,826 crore, but cost-reduction measures have resulted in a contract worth 2500 crores. The completed vision of the project will include visitor centre buildings, a memorial garden, a library, food court, convention centre with room for 10,000 people.
The memorial will have a museum, exhibition gallery, amphitheater and hospital. The memorial will showcase replicas of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's forts. Volunteers have collected water from various rivers in the state and soil from forts of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj for the foundation-stone laying ceremony on 24 December 2016 by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Egis in India has been appointed the Project Management Consultant. Egis in India is the local arm of the France-based Egis group. Initial plans for the project called for the foundation to be built from reclaimed basalt and rubble from the Colaba–SEEPZ metro tunnel. However, due to delays associated with the monument, the rubble is no longer reserved for the monument, is being transported to quarries for storage. On 1 March 2018, a Letter of Acceptance was issued to the contracting firm Toubro; the Koli fishing community fear that they will lose their livelihood. Maharashtra Navnirman Sena president Raj Thackeray had suggested that the money could be better utilized for the development and maintenance of the forts and palaces in Maharashtra, many built during the reign of Shivaji.
