George Strait had his first performance at Cheatham Street Warehouse in San Marcos, Texas on October 13, 1975.
"Amarillo by Morning," which tells the story of a Texas rodeo cowboy, was originally recorded and written by Terry Stafford in 1973. In 1982, Strait recorded the song with a more Western-based instrumentation. The song has become a signature song associated with Strait, and has been referred as one of the greatest country songs of all time.
