Sporting News Pitcher of the Year Award
Sporting News established the Pitcher of the Year Award in 1944 to recognize the most outstanding pitchers in Major League Baseball (MLB). It was given annually to one pitcher each in the American League and National League. In 2013, the Pitcher of the Year Award was split into the Starting Pitcher of the Year Award and Relief Pitcher of the Year Award, which are given annually to a starting pitcher and relief pitchers in each league, as judged by Sporting News baseball experts.

Bartolo Colón, 2005 winner, was the MLB leader in BB per 9 IP (1.11) in 2015, while pitching for the Mets.
Johan Santana, two-time winner, was the MLB ERA champ in 2008, while pitching for the Mets.
The Sporting News Most Valuable Player Award
The Sporting News established The Sporting News Most Valuable Player Award in 1929. The award was given annually to the player judged by TSN baseball experts as being the most valuable in each league. The awards were discontinued in 1946.
