Texas State Highway 71

State Highway 71 or SH 71 is a Texas state highway that runs 253 miles. The northern terminus is at US 87 and US 377 south of Brady and its southern terminus is at SH 35 near Blessing; this highway is designated the "10th Mountain Division Highway" from SH 95 to Interstate 35. SH 71 was designated on August 21, 1923 from Austin to Columbus, replacing SH 3D and the western half of SH 3A. On June 8, 1925, SH 71 extended to Midfield, though this was not effective until 1926. On March 19, 1928, it extended south to its current end. On June 21, 1938, SH 71 Spur was designated in Columbus. In 1935, U. S. Highway 290 was codesignated along the stretch from Austin to Bastrop, dropping SH 71 from this section on September 26, 1939. SH 71 Spur was renumbered as Spur 52. On May 23, 1951, this section was restored. On October 24, 1955, SH 71 was signed, but not designated along Ranch to Market Road 93 to Llano. On October 31, 1965, the highway was extended to its current designation over the cancelled Ranch to Market Road 93 and Ranch to Market Road 734.

On February 16, 1982, SH 71 was relocated in Columbus. Through Austin, SH 71 is one of Austin's newest freeways. Sections have opened since 1996, when the first section west of Interstate 35 was opened. A 5-level stack was completed at Interstate 35 in December 2011, the freeway east of Interstate 35 to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport was completed in 2014. Construction commenced in 2015 east of US183 where a section of SH71 to the SH130 tollway has been converted into a tollway with a two lane bridge crossing 130. Major displacements of commercial properties were required to build the Austin expansions. Most of the freeway had a 150 ft wide right-of-way, expanded to 300+ feet, the western segment, which opened in 1998, was built on an 80 ft right-of-way; the section at the western end required many more business displacements. The new freeway features depressed sections, elevated sections, partial stack interchanges. SH 71 has two business routes. Business State Highway 71-E is a business loop.

The road was designated as Business SH 71-E in 1991 upon completion of a bypass around the city. Business State Highway 71-F is a business loop; the city was bypassed on February 16, 1982 and the original route was designated as Loop 329. The road was redesignated as Business SH 71-F on June 21, 1990; the number was used for Spur 329 on October 30, 1957, from US 83 in Harlingen north to US 77 near Primera Road. This became part of US 77 on June 1, 1967

Xi'an–Chengdu high-speed railway

Xi'an–Chengdu high-speed railway or Xi'an-Chengdu Passenger Dedicated Line, is a dual-track, high-speed rail line in Western China between Xi'an and Chengdu the provincial capitals of Shaanxi and Sichuan. This line, which commenced operations on 6 December 2017, runs 510 km through Shaanxi and Sichuan provinces and accommodates trains traveling at speeds up to 250 km/h. Travel time between the two provincial capitals was reduced from 16 to less than three hours; the project was approved by the State Development and Planning Commission in October 2010. Construction of the Sichuan section of the railway started on November 10, 2010, of the Shaanxi section, on October 27, 2012; the line traverses the rugged Qin and Daba Mountains and connects the Guanzhong Plains with the Sichuan Basin. The line constitutes part of the Beijing–Kunming passageway; the high-speed rail line connects Xian, in the Wei River Valley, Hanzhong, in the Han River Valley, Guangyuan and Chengdu in the Sichuan Basin. In the Qin Mountains, it has 127 km including six over 10,000 m in length.

The railwonay passes under ecologically-sensitive areas including the Taibaishan and Hanzhong Crested Ibis National Nature Reserves, which are home to the endangered giant panda, golden snub-nosed monkey and crested ibis. Over much of its length, the Xi'an–Chengdu Passenger Dedicated Line parallels existing railways: the Yangpingguan–Ankang railway in southwestern Shaanxi, the Baoji–Chengdu railway in Sichuan. However, the section from Xi'an to Hanzhong, crossing in tunnels under the Qin Mountains, follows an new direct route. High speed rail reforms meant direct Chengdu-Lanzhou and Chongqing-Xi'an services would use a combination of Xi'an–Chengdu high-speed railway and Chongqing–Lanzhou railway from where they met at Guangyuan; this would negate the need to build a separate direct Chongqing-Xi'an or Chengdu-Lanzhou lines. However, with the announcement of the expanded 8+8 high speed rail grid, the two planned lines were reinstated in the masterplan; the Chengdu-Xi'an HSR have to cross the Qin Mountains.

Since most HSR trains with 250 km/h maximum speed are not equipped with sufficient redundant power to maintain max speed climbing, trains scheduled to run between Chengdu and Xi'an using 250 km/h max speed equipments have to reserve extra time for the tunnel. However, for trains that continue to Beijing via Xi'an-Zhengzhou High Speed Rail and Guangzhou-Beijing High Speed Rail, an equipment capable of 350 km/h operations must be utilized to reach regular speed on the Zhengzhou-Beijing part. With redundant power equipped for 350 km/h operations, they lose less speed going up the tunnel, thus spending less time. Sav Remzi

Sav Remzi, born in 1964 in London, is a music producer and consultant. He is responsible for a number of imprints over the past two decades or more, including the music label Nuphonic Records, The Blue Note Club in Shoreditch, the London Xpress radio shows for Xfm, Tirk Records, the Lovebox Festival, the championing of various hit artists including New Young Pony Club and Fujiya & Miyagi. Whilst directing his Tirk Records label, Remzi develops creative marketing campaigns for brands which have included Virgin Media, Harvey Goldsmith, The Guardian, Pernod Ricard, Mazda, Perry Ellis and Bowers & Wilkins. In 2013, he was appointed Founding Member and Music Director at the not-for-profit members club, The House Of St Barnabas in London's Soho. Most Remzi published Goldie's memoirs on Faber & Faber and consults creative concepts and audio installations for the Mint Group and St John in Hackney, whilst producing various music projects. In 1989, Remzi began working with early musical pioneers such as Andrew Weatherall, Gilles Peterson and Norman Jay, hosting their residencies at his newly built Jazz club, the Red-Eye.

He went on to co-found the record label, Nuphonic Records in 1993. Nuphonic's first release was Faze Action's club classic, In The Trees. In the following years, the label went on to release a broad spectrum of dance music ranging from Afro rhythms to House music. Nuphonic titles included David Mancuso's Loft series, Norman Jay's Good Times, Andrew Weatherall, Faze Action and Ashley Beedle.. Nuphonic ceased operations in 2002. In 1994 Remzi took charge of the Blue Note club in London's Hoxton Square. By hosting residencies from the likes of DJ Harvey, James Lavelle, Gilles Peterson, Goldie's'Metalheadz', Talvin Singh's'Anokha' and Ninja Tune's'Stealth', the club proved to become a platform from which audiences could sample the various new musical movements that were emerging at the time. In 2000, Remzi secured the production of a new weekly radio show called London Xpress which launched, the indie station, Xfm's drive towards dance audiences. In September 2000, Remzi acquired and built his own venue, the Bridge & Tunnel, a two-floor 400 capacity venue in London's Shoreditch.

A bank, the site was converted into a club/restaurant/bar. The club closed in 2003 due to licensing issues. Remzi A&R's his own record label Tirk Records, founded in 2003; the label's first signing, 2007 Mercury Award nominees New Young Pony Club attracted critical acclaim with their singles'Ice Cream' and'The Get Go'. Tirk subsequently unearthed Miyagi with their album; the Tirk roster include acts such as Richard Norris, Maurice Fulton, Tom Findley, Idjut Boys, The Bees, Greg Wilson, Chaz Jankel Chaz Jankel, Martin Rushent. In 2005 Remzi secured founding partnership in London's Lovebox Festival, facilitating its move to East Londons' Victoria Park. In 2008 Remzi was recruited as panel judge together with Carl Barat Carl Barat, The Charlatans, other industry figures in Virgin Media's call for bands competition Road To V, where bands such as Bombay Bicycle Club and Young Knives were first aired; the show was an 8-part TV series aired on Channel 4. Remzi now acts as music strategy consultant to various brands including Virginmedia, Meantime Brewery, d&b Audiotechnik, Bowers & Wilkins, John Lewis and Perry Ellis.

Projects have included The Guardian and Intel for the creation of the world's first on-line festival, aired live in June 2007 within the virtual environment of Second Life. Secondfest was subsequently awarded the AOP prize for the'Innovation' category. Since 2012, Remzi has been Music Director and founding member of the not-for-profit social enterprise members club House of St Barnabas in London's Soho, which has a mission to break the cycle of homelessness. At HOSB he has programmed high profile events, styled the clubs music strategy and forged partnerships with the likes of NTS Live and Boiler Room, as well as appointing founding members Jarvis Cocker, Rob da Bank, Gilles Peterson, Andrew Weatherall and many others. Between 2014 to 2016, Remzi joined Harvey Goldsmith where he programmed various John Lewis sponsored festival events including Onblackheath Festival in SE London, Onroundhay in Leeds. Onblackheath Remzi headlined the likes of Massive Attack, Grace Jones, Gilles Peterson, Neneh Cherry, Jarvis Cocker and many more.

In 2016 Remzi was appointed music judge for Berwick Street Calling, alongside Primal Scream's Simone Butler. 2017 saw Remzi publish Goldie's memoirs, titled'All Things Remembered' on Faber & Faber'. Most Remzi has consulted on audio installations and creative strategy for the Mint Group at Koko and for St John at Hackney a 2000 capacity venue designed by John Pawson due to open in 2020
