Valeria Straneo is an Italian long-distance runner, winner of the silver medal at the 2013 World Championships in Athletics and Italian record holder in the marathon.

The Stramilano is an annual athletics event which takes place in Milan, Italy in spring. The event comprises three parts: the Stramilano International Half Marathon, the La Stramilano dei 50.000 and the Stramilanina – a 5 km event for younger people.
The 1981 winner Robert de Castella (right) won the inaugural World Championships marathon two years later.
