York railway station (1841)
The former York railway station served the city of York, England between 1841 and 1877. It is a Grade II* listed building.

The remains of the train-shed can be seen as well as the backs of the station buildings. The large Queen Anne-style building beyond the station is the former HQ of the North Eastern Railway.

George Hudson was an English railway financier and politician who, because he controlled a significant part of the railway network in the 1840s, became known as "The Railway King"—a title conferred on him by Sydney Smith in 1844.
