Ernst Freiherr von Althaus
Ernst Freiherr von Althaus was a German flying ace in World War I, credited with nine confirmed aerial victories, as well as eight unconfirmed ones. He was one of the original Fokker Eindekker pilots who became known collectively as the Fokker Scourge.
Here Althaus is seen in his Halberstadt D.II.
The Fokker Scourge occurred during the First World War from July 1915 to early 1916. Imperial German Flying Corps units, equipped with Fokker Eindecker fighters, gained an advantage over the Royal Flying Corps (RFC) and the French AĆ©ronautique Militaire.
