As area of Zagreb was once covered by Pannonian Sea, in Podsused, the westernmost neighbourhood of Zagreb, the remains of prehistoric whale were uncovered in the second half of the 19th century. Since this particular species was then unknown, it was named after Zagreb - Mesocetus Agrami. The picture show whale's monument in Podsused.
One of contested places in skirmishes between medieval Gradec and Kaptol was "Popov toranj" (Priest's Tower), where modern Zagreb Observatory is located.
