Kurume is a city in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. As of 1 February 2024, the city had an estimated population of 295,367 in 137,140 households, and a population density of 1309 persons per km². The total area of the city is 229.96 km2 (88.79 sq mi).

The Kyushu Shinkansen is a Japanese Shinkansen high-speed railway network. It is an extension of the San'yō Shinkansen from Honshu connecting the city of Fukuoka in the north of Japan's Kyushu Island to the city of Kagoshima in the south. The line runs parallel to the existing Kagoshima Main Line and is operated by Kyushu Railway Company.
