The pied tamarin is a critically endangered primate species found in a restricted area in the Brazilian Amazon Rainforest. This New World monkey is found within and just north of the city limits of Manaus, the capital of the Amazonas state of Brazil; the main distribution is in the rio Cuieiras and rio Preto da Eva interfluvium. Pied tamarins are found in the adjacent rio Preto da Eva and rio Urubu interfluvium, but are comparatively rare. There appears to be interspecific competition between the pied tamarin and the red-handed tamarin with the red-handed tamarin displacing the pied tamarin from areas of its historical distribution. There are therefore multiple threats to the long-term survival off the pied tamarin that stem from habitat destruction and from interspecific competition; the pied tamarin's body measures 20.8–28.3 cm.. Males weigh 428 grams, its life expectancy is 10 years in the wild. Individuals live in groups of 2 to 15 members with little intra-group competition. Average group size in the Reserva Florestal Adolpho Ducke is 4.8 individuals per group, other areas around Manaus reported mean group sizes of 6.19 ± 2.62.
Only the alpha female of the group will breed. Reproduction in other females of the group is behaviorally suppressed; the gestation lasts 140–170 days and mothers give birth to twins. Young tamarins are cared for by the father and turned over to the mother only to nurse. Tamarins are omnivorous, their diet consisting of fruit, nectar, spiders, small vertebrates and bird eggs, its natural predators are small cats, birds of prey, snakes. In urban setting main predators are domestic and feral dogs; because of the destruction of its natural habitat, the species is at risk. However, the species occurs in several protected areas. Major protected areas outside Manaus include: The Rio Negro State Park South Section The Sauim-Castanheiras Wildlife Refuge The Adolfo Ducke Forest Reserve of the Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas da Amazônia The Walter Egler Forest Reserve of the Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas da Amazônia The Military training area of the Centro de Instrução de Guerra na Selva The Tupé Sustainable Development Reserve The Rio Negro Left Bank Environmental Protection Area – Tarumã-Açú/Tarumã-mirim SectorMajor protected areas within Manaus include: The campus of Universidade Federal do Amazonas The buffer zone around the Eduardo Gomes international airport The buffer zone around the Ponte Pelada regional airport The Sumaúma State Park The Mindu Municipal Park The worker's country club SESCI The worker's country club SESI The 1ºBIS/CIGS military zoo and surrounding areas

"Love in Slow Motion" is the second single by American metalcore band, Bleeding Through, from their 2006 album, The Truth. The music video shot for the song was directed by Zach Merck and Kevin Leonard and filmed in the California desert, it is the sequel to the band's previous video "Kill to Believe". In a similar way to the first part, "Love in Slow Motion" shows the band performing while the story evolves. In frontman Brandan Schieppati's words it is "a sort of Texas Chainsaw Massacre meets The Devil's Rejects"; the video takes place in the lair of the backwoods brothers who kidnapped the girlfriend of the hero in the first part. The original actress, played by actress Susannah Mills in the prequel video Kill to Believe, is played by a different actress, who wakes from unconsciousness and tries to escape from the house she was taken to but she doesn't succeed, she is dragged to the brothers' torture chamber. Just as they are to begin the torturing a third man and the psychotic waitress with a dog steps in.
Moments a fourth man arrives. After that Schieppati comes in with a baseball bat to save the girl, they escape, they're shown running out of the house together and a few seconds the waitress and another villain step out with a sinister look on their face. With this video Merck and Leonard was trying to top the first one. "The idea we are going with this one is to make the film Hostel look like a Disney movie," Leonard remarked. Template:Infobox firefighter Charles Prather is an American former firefighter, the second Fire Chief of the Orange County Fire Authority in California, United States. Chip is the son of the late Charles W. Prather, longtime chief of the University of California, Davis Fire Department from the 1950s to the 80s. Chip began his career in 1970 as a seasonal firefighter with the California Department of Forestry, now known as California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. Prather was named the Fire Chief of the Orange County Fire Authority on October 1, 1997. Prather's leadership can be characterized as unusually involved in the community. Prather would address derision directly responding to blogging critics online and answering his own rookie firefighters' complaints in person; the level of investment shown by the Chief earned the respect of the firefighters which served under his leadership, resulting in numerous accolades from state and federal agencies as well as a resolution approved by the board of Orange County Board of Directors on June 25, 2009.
During his tenure as Fire Chief, Prather developed and/or expanded many instrumental safety programs including: the Paramedic Assessment Unit Program, the Urban Search and Rescue Team, Helicopter Program, Safety Officer Response Plan, the Automatic External Defibrillator Program, Swift Water Rescue Team, Technical Truck Program, WEFIT Program, Occupant Liaison Program. These programs increased the status and quality of Orange County's regional fire protection, attracted fire departments from across the globe to emulate the OCFA's procedures. Fire Chief Prather sought to create a new headquarters for the fire department which he had expanded and improved, accomplished this goal in 2004; the new Regional Fire Operations and Training Center completed construction in June 2004, moved the OCFA from its former headquarters on Water St. in the city of Orange to the northeast border of Irvine, California. The training center is one of the most advanced in the world, with a six-story tower that can be remotely set ablaze and extinguished, swiftwater rescue canals, train track and airplane fuselage for Mass Casualty Incident training, an underground dispatch center that can flex over 18 inches in the event of earthquakes.
While its construction was a complex project involving the efforts of many stakeholders, the RFOTC became a visible symbol of the Chief's success in transforming the once fledgling fire department into a world class institution. Chip Prather oversaw Orange County's Federal Emergency Management Agency Urban search and rescue Team, CAT-5, one of only eight in the state of California and 28 in the entire United States. In November 2008, Prather expanded this program by adding the first nationally certified canine and handler team in Orange County. All of Chief Prather's achievements have helped Orange County's cities become some of the safest in America; the city of Irvine for example, is served by over eight OCFA fire stations, has been ranked the number one safest city in America for four years in a row. "Be tough, be tender, be safe."

Karthik works as a manager in a firm, he and his wife live and help everyone around according to their capacity, they have Vennila. Meanwhile, Ilavarasi, a new neighbor in their apartment, arrives, she lives right next door. Ilavarasi is the daughter of a rich moneylender and greedy loan shark who goes to any extent to get his loaned money back from the people who borrowed it, he loves his daughter and will get anything she points at and will do anything for her. Ilavarasi, as a result of this upbringing, is an arrogant, spoilt brat of a man and is married to a spineless man who does whatever she bids him to do.
Though Thenu does not have a good opinion about Ilavarasi in the beginning, they become friends after an incident where Ilavarasi thrashes a stalker, harassing Thenu over the phone. Soon, the women become good friends, enjoy each other's company over the day, spend a lot of time together. One day, when Karthik and Thenu are preparing for a wedding in Karthik's employer's family, Thenu says that she has only a simple jewelry and will feel out of place and belittled at such a grand wedding. Since Karthik is not in a comfortable financial state to buy her some jewels, she decides to ask Ilavarasi if she could borrow her necklace and return it after the ceremony, Ilavarasi happily obliges; the trouble begins when Thenu loses the expensive necklace to a chain snatcher thief on their way back home. When Ilavarasi's father learns of this, he becomes wild and scolds Thenu and his own daughter, he asks Karthik to lodge a formal complaint to the police. The policemen's attitude towards this issue is lethargic, they treat them with negligence.
Meanwhile, the inspector tells Ilavarasi's father that while Thenu's own chain is still intact, his daughter's jewelry alone is gone, so Thenu and Karthik could be possible suspects, this kind of cheating is the latest trend among robbers these days. Ilavarasi's father hears poisons Ilavarasi's mind, she misjudges certain incidents with Thenu and distances herself believing her father. One fine day, Ilavarasi throws a surprise party for Karthik and Thenu's wedding anniversary and gifts an expensive showpiece. However, day after day, Ilavarasi's father continues to verbally abuse them and looks at them as thieves; the baby Vennila gets kidnapped and after some commotions, Karthik learns that Ilavarasi and her father have orchestrated the whole kidnap drama to check if they have the money from selling the stolen necklace. Karthik is enraged and argues with Ilavarasi's father, who asks him to first find the stolen necklace or at least give the money for the jewelry's worth and talk as much as he pleases.
Karthik, unable to see his family suffer humiliation, agrees to give back the money somehow. Karthik goes to his village to sell a property, leaving Vennila at home. However, here too, the land brokers make use of his helpless emergency situation and buy the land for the amount that Karthik owes Ilavarasi's father, much lesser than the land's actual worth. Karthik is in for a rude shock, he finds. He reads her suicide note, where she tells that there was a secret camera in the gift that Ilavarasi gave for their anniversary, theirintimate moments were filmed and leaked to the internet, her stalker had verbally abused her in public. When she confronted Ilavarasi and her father about this, he told that they fixed the camera only to monitor their activities to find the truth about the theft and they are not responsible if the video is leaked to the internet somehow; when she argued with him, he humiliated her further. Unable to bear all the humiliation, she has taken this extreme step. Karthik is blinded with fury after reading this, when Ilavarasi's father comes to get his money, he gives it to him and asks him to return his dead wife.
This leads to an argument, he is beaten up by goons, but he bashes all of them and strangles Ilavarasi's father to death with his own gold chains. No one except Ilavarasi stops Karthik, not Ilavarasi's husband. At the end, we see that Karthik cries out loud, looking at the state that he left his baby daughter Vennila in.
